They need to do things the right way with the coaching staff. They should have the two head coaches and the rest be assistants from staff's. Way to many head coaches on each staff which brings to many ego's into the mix. I saw 4 different head coaches at each others throats last night for no reason. If coaches can't keep control of their emotions how can they expect the players too???

Ryle decides to throw off and pitch their number 3 pitcher. Cost them as St. Henry puts up a 3 spot in the first and then hung on for the win!!! Congrats to the Cru and Coach Shartzer!

In Cooper's short existence I think they are two that stick out the most. State championship game in 2012 against Bowling Green. First two offensive series were turnovers and final score ended up being a 14 point loss. Very even game after the jitters but couldn't overcome those early turnovers. 2015 Regional Final against Simon Kenton. This was a game last year not many people gave Cooper a chance to win and without a kicker (appendicitis) Cooper went for two with a minute left and didn't convert and lost 13-12.

For NKY purposes, I am going to say three games. Two of them I am partial towards because it is the team I root for. Cooper vs. Ryle - Ryle QB Tanner Morgan and Cooper WR Dante Hendrix and OL Sander Rocsvag. Three potential D1 football players as the two from Cooper haven't committed anywhere yet. Cooper vs. SK - QB Racke, OL Williams and the two from Cooper. Quickly becoming the best 6A game in the area. SK vs. Ryle - Already mentioned above both teams.

Congrats to Coach Hicks on the promotion. Curious why he didn't want to continue coaching while being AD? Didn't want that much of a work load or school didn't want him too? I am trying to think here, and I mean no disrespect when I ask this because I do not know all of their coaches names, but is Bowman the JV coach and the shorter gentleman with dark hair? And it will be interesting to see the applicants for this job but I don't know if I would call the Conner basketball job a "top job" but a higher level job in the area. I could see them staying in house but I also think if a top notch guy applies for it you have to at least look at that candidate very hard. The good news is Hicks will be able to see what is best with the coaching background.

Awesome, same teams as last year?

Is Montgomery County still having their week 0 bowl this season? It was a good event last year and a fantastic venue to watch high school football! Plus, last season I got to see a defensive slugfest final score of like 7-0 or something with Collins and MoCo.

I will be honest I have only seen about 5 of the kids play other than Kunkel that have made the lists, plus I am a little partial, but after watching him this spring there is no way he can't be on top 10-12 lists for would be juniors in the state. The kid gets over shadowed a little bit by Sean McNeil but watching him in AAU he has been nothing short of spectacular! Again, have not seen all of the students play that are on this list so I can't say where I would rank him. But I am taking a guess that he should sit around the 7-10 range.

I saw that, but I did list 7 and mention 7 then had to fix the one that was going to play but then backed out. So I should have done a better job of editing my original post to 6 once I received confirmation. I edited an earlier post where there were 5 but when I got the confirmation and updated the list I forgot to fix the first part that still had 5. There are 6 from Cooper that I can totally confirm are going to play. Sorry for the confusion.

My questions is simply this: If he was the #1 QB in the camp, what other QB did they give the "Golden Ticket" too? Sounds to me like Dilfer and crew are cooking up some political picks for the Elite 11. I thought you took the best, and apparently he was exactly that at the camp? Someone enlighten me please.

I am not totally sure on this but I believe that the five from Cooper are: RB Torrey Cordell-Armstrong OL/DL Marcus Watson LB's Aiden and Seth Keller OL/DL Erik Pavek QB/DB Nathan Brown I believe Cooper is sending these 7.

B I think it is time to start looking at Quarterfinal teams, so I figured I would start one on the Cooper Jaguars. Cooper had a solid year with a 8-2 regular season with wins over Highlands, Ryle, Conner, Lexington Catholic, Newport Catholic, among others. They did have a BAD loss to Bryan Station which dropped the grade some for me. A pretty average post-season with wins over Conner and Seneca and a 1 point heart breaker of a loss to SK in the third round of the playoffs. What does everyone else think? Is a B to high for a 3rd round playoff team? Or do you agree?

They did. The two years without was referring to if they did not win it this coming season. Coach W won a state championship his first year, did not last year, and I was saying if he did not win this year would that ruffle feathers?

From the outside looking in I figured not winning a championship 2 years in a row is probably something that hasn't been experienced in a while in the Fort so I was just asking for clarification. Met him once and he seemed really smart and knowledgeable about the game and he definitely learned from the best. I wish him the best of luck this year and hope that Highlands has a great year

I don't think you can give them a B+ just because they ended up losing like 5 regular season games or something like that. I think a B- or C+ fits because they did have a good playoff run but those regular season beatings they took from Cooper, Ryle, SK, Scott County, have to be brought into the grade.

In no way am I trying to start any controversy, just asking the question from someone not familiar with the program. If Coach W doesn't have a strong season this year, (I know they made it to the semis last year but it was very Not-Highlands like) is there any chance the school would make a change? Or are they committed to him? Just asking because I would not think it is fair to make a change after two years but was hoping to hear something from people in the know. Thanks.

Apparently you did not understand my post. College coaches at the D1 level are usually the majority that recommend the players do not play. Summer baseball coaches will tell kids not to play and others might, but a lot of the D3 or NAIA coaches don't recommend it like you see D1 coaches and players.

Usually all of the kids that are going to college play except for the one's that are going D1. They are usually the one's that are somewhat told not to play and no better.

I believe that Coach Trosper from Conner is the head coach for the West???? team. Or East, whichever side Conner is on. Lol. I am not sure about the other side who is the head coach.

On a more serious note though, Dante Hendrix from Cooper is attending numerous camps and is garnering more attention from schools. Don't think he is close to a decision yet, but know there are a lot of schools interested. Also, Sander Rocsvag from Cooper is getting some attention as well, but don't have any details into that one at the moment.

The kid is a freak athlete, and will be able to learn the tumbling aspect pretty quickly I would imagine. Something he does have is the ability to toss around petite women with ease. (That sounded really bad) He will definitely be a part of a successful, winning program and I think he will do well in this role! Congrats to the young man. Hate to hear he wont be continuing his football career as he was a tremendous player and hard to prepare for.

Coming from a homer perspective on Cooper they need some younger guys to step up and fill a few holes if they want to sit in that top 6-9 range. They have a strong nucleus coming back in Hendrix, Jackson, Meyers, Schlarman, Rocsvag, Centers, and others but lose a few key players that were seniors this past year. I think the question mark right now is on the O and D Lines. Who is going to fill in for Watson and Smith on the DL, and who can slide in and play guard/center and LT on the O-Line for Sand and Watson. They will also need to develop some depth at WR with Michels, Kuchar, Jackson, and the Kellers at TE graduating. Someone has to be able to take the pressure off of Hendrix as he will likely be double covered every game.
