How is SK's field not wide enough. Wasn't this accounted for when they put the turf down and reworked their athletic complex? Seems like a major oversight to me. 'memyselfandi'.... Scott's field is turf as well.

You def. didn't put an all defensive team together. I think this group would struggle to win games as I'm not sure they could stop anyone.

I wish someone wouldn't schedule these games on Friday nights that make them go head to head with the Football games.

I have no problem with a school willing to host a tournament. Good news is I don't see rain forecasted in the near future. Grass will def come into play so lets hope St Henry's staff works their tails off to keep the field playable.

I agree with you 'whatsbestforthegirls' only to a limited extent. In the case I cited for the 37th district, these venues are played at CC middle school each year because of the location, size etc... This was decided by each of the respective schools to avoid issues where people are turned away because they do not have enough seating at every other schools gymnasium. This is why most schools in basketball do not hosts Regional tournaments etc... They know they cannot seat the number of individuals that want to attend so they defer so the fans can enjoy the games. This is where Villa and ever other school needs to recognize that my facility simply is not setup to host post season. These delayed games is very avoidable. I know exactly what time the sun sets and in this instance knowing if I have any delays we simply aren't going to be able to finish the most important game of the year for these kids. That is my issue, these kids work way to hard to have their season or careers end because of an issue that could have been avoided. When things like this pop up, it distracts from the kids and people focus on the elephant in the room instead of celebrating the kids, this can hopefully be avoided in the future.

time to require lights to hold post season play. That is a crying shame that the tournaments have to be played out this way. If a school wants to host then they should put up lights. Just not fair to the kids. To an earlier poster regarding home field advantage....The 37th district holds all their basketball games at CC and I have to tell you that its not really unfair. The atmosphere is excellent as all teams have great representation. Its not like college where you control ticket allocations for your home games.

Crazy Kenton County policy. All kids must be bused to all sporting events. They even do this during summer scrimmages. Buses drop the kids off and they basically can leave as the kids ride home with the parents. Talk about environment friendly, money saving policies. Some of these people never cease to amaze me with the crazy stuff they come up with.

I'm not sure I agree SK is too high. They have beaten South Oldham and Male rather convincingly and are two team ranked in the top 10 most of the season. They did lose to ND and Highlands by a goal each. Both extremely competitive games and could have gone either way, a little better luck on a bounce here and their and the outcome could easily have been different. So I'm not sure how you think they should be much lower. The girls have bought in to the new coach and were all playing different roles at the beginning of the year and have improved leaps and bounds game to game. They are not as deep as I'm sure they would like to be but they have a lot of speed and skill and solid goal keeping. I think the appropriate response is. SK's new coach has made a huge impact to their program and should be up for the coach of the year. He has essentially taken a team with the same talent that was a sub .500 team and turned them around into a Regional contender. This coming from a person that doesn't know him at all. Just find his turnaround impressive. I don't see how your statement of ' getting a benefit' is fair when they have done such a remarkable job.

Agree with the first round draw but it's not going to be much fun for the second round game. The upper quarter of the state bracket is murders row with exception to the 10th region. Would love to have the 11th Regions draw.

I have to say that I agree with LtDan in terms of his rankings. I would list Oldham County as a darkhorse that may battle for the 3 - 5 spot. In the end, SK will have a much better team than they did last year even with the departing of two valuable Sr's. They have young talent coming up that will be really good for years to come and I look for them to be not only the Region front runner but with a little luck and good draw could make a great run much like Mason Co. did last year. SK biggest kink in their armor is their inability to guard out in the open space so will see what adjustments coach Stowers makes this year to hopefully allow them to pressure the ball more in the open court. As good as their PG is offensively she struggles equally defensively guarding much quicker players. If this team can extend their defense then look for them to be really good as they have a ton of options. Trimble will be a tough team with the amount of talent they are returning. I don't see them matching up with SK's bigs but fully expect them to put their stamp on the 8th Region this year. They return their two top scorers and top rebounders from last year so I expect them to pick up where they left off. While they have several great athletes, I'm not sure they go deep enough talent wise to win it all. Walton returns a lot this year as well, I just don't know if they have the team speed to match some of these quicker teams. There coaches are very good and I'm sure they have a plan in place already. They have some very heady players that get the most out of there talent so you can never underestimate a team like this. I think these are your top three but in the end I think SK controls their own destiny.

I'm not sure that anyone can fairly make a point regardless of what the policy was stated. The only way you can is if you know the reason for a kid missing practice. I've been in situations where the kid didn't want their friends to know why they missed so they told them one thing when they were actually missing for a very important reason. My point? What would this resolve unless you know why a player really missed?

I don't think its the majority of Highlands people, but a loud few that are grinding their ax.

Could it be that the school is fully aware of everything and the REAL issue could be a few disgruntled parents Pretty big stretch to indict all of HHS administration as if they don't have a clue or care. I believe they are fully involved and know the real challenges I'm pretty convinced it's the parent issue. Sk an franklin co match up very well. That rematch would go to the wire. Both have strengths at different positions they can exploit. However, I've not seen Allen co play so can't say much about that matchup nor can I say much about sk round opponent. Every game will beep for grabs in the lower bracket so you never know.

I'm glad you have them in such high regard. My understanding is you haven't seen them play. The 8th region is not nearly as down as you hoped they were. Yes highlands trounced sk when we went thru a very rough period. To be honest I don't think you win if we played with both teams healthy. We hadn't practices (yes very important especially when you are as young as we are ) in weeks. No shooting nothing in the gym. We had injuries and sickness'. Our coach made the prudent decision to basically play our 2nd team jv to get varsity experience without risking anything on our team. 3 of our 4 losses came during the stretch we were hurting But oh using see that or recognize something like that because your blinders are wayyyyy to big Yup. I'll take 27-4. Sweet 16 trip with 2 srs 2 sophomores and 4 freshmen carrying the majority of the load. If that's down by your standards Last comment. All year I heard that highlands has a very nice team. Let their playing do your talking. Good teams don't need the banter Not interested in your response so don't bother. Both teams are really good. Hard to argue that last years group wasn't better and certainly built an impressive resume during their careers. However, this years team is not finished so its hard to really put a final number on this team. This years group is much much younger than last years but have two very important Sr's that have been stellar leaders for the youngsters. Some of you have commented about their recent play and I will say that during the first part of February the girls just flat out didn't play well. Culminating in the debacle at Highlands where they hadn't practiced in weeks, Didn't have their BIG and ultimately coaches decided to play the JV and use that game as a teaching tool and garner experience (at least that's what it looked from afar). That being said, they are still not playing where they were around the first part of the year but they are getting close. Hopefully, they will continue to make strides and make a little noise at State. Say what you want..... end of day they are still playing and writing their history.

Mason better bring their Defensive A game. Muhlenberg can really shoot the ball and if you can't guard the perimeter you may be in for a long game. I think both teams match up well and Cantrell's ratings are dead on so I think this one will come down to who makes the most plays at the end.
