  1. Human error. Unfortunate, but it happens in every sport. Glad to see there is some level of accountability being assessed against the crew and the association. Still stinks for Murray.
  2. Better yet, allow the students to shadow an experienced announcer for the Varsity games. Then the students can cut their teeth by announcing the JV or Freshman games. Allowing someone with no experience and a severe lack of knowledge of the subject to run the show on the big stage is never a good idea. Wait...almost forgot if I was talking politics or high school football.
  3. No names will be named as there are multiple offenders in the area that I have heard and no doubt many more that I have not had the displeasure of hearing. I understand that an announcer will tend to be biased for the home team, but it should never be disrespectful toward the opponents and I have not heard any of this locally. My beef is with too much chatter and getting things wrong. If you don't know, just say nothing! And there is no reason to do post-play by play after we have all just seen the play! If there is to be music between plays, let it be from the band.
  4. I have been to a few venues in NKY this season and have noticed a severe lack of professionalism of some of the public address announcers at football games. The announcers seem to be wannabe play by play guys or color analysts. Way too much talking, often at inappropriate times (when the ball is being snapped), not understanding the Official's hand signals/calling out the incorrect penalty, re-living the previous play with dialogue, calling players by odd nicknames, referring to an incomplete pass as "no good" and a missed extra point as incomplete, leaving the microphone on so that we can hear even more blather...the list could go on and on. At most, just give the down and yard mark once in a while, acknowledge players from both teams who do well on most plays, inform the crowd (correctly please) what penalty has been called and do some local civic announcements. Other than that, flip the mic switch to the off position. Maybe I am just getting old, but I'd rather watch the game with just the ambient crowd noise and the atmosphere of high school football, than to sit and have to listen to someone who has no idea what their role should be and who loves the sound of their own voice waaaayyyy too much.
  5. Have to agree. I used to root for SK in most sports. Now, because of UK#1 I want to see them lose no matter the sport or the opponent. He has made SK look very bad for the past few years. I've spoken to many a SK fan and they all think he does more harm than good to the program.
  6. I guess this will put an end to the speculation by some, that BG is the best team in the state.
  7. Congrats to both teams on great seasons! Hope Dixie can do some damage down state.
  8. Closer than many expected. I heard HHS had a lot of scoring chances inside the red zone but could not capitalize. Also heard there were a lot of dropped passes.
  9. And less field time means less chance of injury. It was NOT a case of running up the score on an inferior opponent.
  10. Great strategy going for two to get to 36 and a running clock early in the game. It will get the team home an hour earlier.
  11. What is the local paper down Warren central way? I cannot wait to see what Coach Feggins has to say, post game.
  12. Very nice win for the Tigers! NCC sounds like it has some work to do if it plans any type of playoff run.
  13. Happy ride home for the Birds tonight. Long ride home for coach Feggins.
  14. Only 8 people predicted a Warren Central win in this one. Isn't that right UK#1?
  15. This was my point. Campbell County played the game they had to play to beat NDA this year. Pack in the defense and counter attack. Had they tried to play possession soccer against the Pandas, they would have lost to a team that plays that style better.
  16. Ryle can rest assured that NKY knows they are the Frosh champs this year. Very good team.
  17. Just too bad the fire did not take place right after the Dixie game. You could have roasted that crow.
  18. I agree. The pack it in mindset leads to having to kick the ball clear far too often. It takes the midfield and forwards out of the mix and is not a style that is conducive to passing and ball control.
  19. IMO the Camels need to play the offensive game from the get go against good competition. Often, against quality, possession type teams the coach has them pack in the defense, hoping for a goal off a counter, instead of starting out being aggressive offensively. This only works until you get scored on. Then a team is forced into a more aggressive offensive attack. IMO, it would be better to play aggressively and try to get up by a goal or two before packing in defensively.
  20. Do you think the Highlands Varsity coach will remember the onsides kicks against this frosh team the next time these teams meet at the varsity level? Will he return the favor if he has the opportunity?
  21. It is a shame the girls had to play on a poor surface for this game. That said, NKY teams have played on poor surfaces for years in both the regular season and tournament. The home fields of Brossart, NCC and even Highlands were terrible during rainy weather and by seasons end, for many years. You play on the surface that is available for the given game. Generally, poor field conditions do not benefit one team over the other, while playing on a pristine artificial turf surface will definitely benefit a better skilled or faster team.
