Tough match for the Camels. The girls played hard in tough conditions. Congrats on a great season. West Jessamine had a very good, skilled team-congrats. Oh by the way, the athletic department at West Jessamine should be embarrassed about the field conditions, the stands with geese crap and garbage all over them, and the conditions of their restrooms. Not a good place to play a a state sanctioned game.

I would love to hear about the "irrigation" problem as well that just happened that morning. The field was not in good shape.

The field was in really bad shape. When you have to take a little red wagon (Radio Flyer) around the field filled with dirt to fill holes that is a problem.:idunno:

Not even a full sized Radio Flyer at that! Why any official would allow this game to take place on such a field is beyond my comprehension. Add in the disgusting bathrooms and the nasty seating to complete the experience!

Any official? How do you think that would go over if an official cancelled a semi state game over a muddy field? I'm sure you'd be pleased but somehow I doubt the KHSAA would agree.

Should have been more specific......the "any official" part was in reference to the information provided to the fans that a KHSAA official had checked the field before the game and declared it playable. I'm just happy that no one from either team suffered an injury last night.

Typically a bad playing surface benefits the less skilled team. You guys can judge which team that was or wasn't. Of course when you lose whatever playing surface you played on was the wrong one. :)

I am just curious how an "irrigation" problem was being fixed right before the game without ever notifying the visiting team during the day when it was found earlier in the morning. No excuses just wondering.

...and secondly, if you are hosting a state game I would hope the school who is hosting would want the facility in the best condition but maybe that is just me.

West jessamine was the the better team even though the Camels could have won. The issue is not the teams but the field and site in general. Poorly sanctioned state event. It (Event) and the girls on both teams deserved more.

Agreed. My only point was to say it wouldn't make sense that it was intentional, because that would not have benefited WJ.

I agree, there was no intent, however the game should have been played at a better venue after officials looked at the field?

Great run for the ladies from Campbell County, Good luck to WJ. Now one thing, there was a very rude person in the stands for Campbell County that he was stinking drunk, I know this happens at all High School Sport's game, but this needs to be stopped. When are the host schools going to enforce this rule at at games. If you cannot reframe from drinking you really have an issue. The KHSAA really needs to monitor this.

It is a shame the girls had to play on a poor surface for this game. That said, NKY teams have played on poor surfaces for years in both the regular season and tournament. The home fields of Brossart, NCC and even Highlands were terrible during rainy weather and by seasons end, for many years. You play on the surface that is available for the given game. Generally, poor field conditions do not benefit one team over the other, while playing on a pristine artificial turf surface will definitely benefit a better skilled or faster team.

That would be heaven compared to the Fairgrounds that at the end was used only for State Championship football games. There were dead animals in the stands and about every other seat was broken.

In 2014 there is no excuse for a state tourney game to be held in conditions that could easily be taken care of.
