Great run for the ladies from Campbell County, Good luck to WJ. Now one thing, there was a very rude person in the stands for Campbell County that he was stinking drunk, I know this happens at all High School Sport's game, but this needs to be stopped. When are the host schools going to enforce this rule at at games. If you cannot reframe from drinking you really have an issue. The KHSAA really needs to monitor this.

WJ did in fact outplay CC. They deserve to win. CC gave them more of a game than they thought, and could have pulled it out if a couple nesr misses went in. I heard WJ's coach went berserk several times in the game. What happened there?

Regardless of the outcome of this game the Camels did themselves proud. I grew pretty fond of their refuse to lose game style. Defend to the end. Congrats on a great season. Good luck to the seniors and for the rest improve your finish position next season. A state title may be just around the next bend. See you all next season.

IMO the Camels need to play the offensive game from the get go against good competition. Often, against quality, possession type teams the coach has them pack in the defense, hoping for a goal off a counter, instead of starting out being aggressive offensively. This only works until you get scored on. Then a team is forced into a more aggressive offensive attack. IMO, it would be better to play aggressively and try to get up by a goal or two before packing in defensively.

True, but the problem I think the Camels had was utilizing possession of the ball. The girls had a tendency to just kick to space instead of putting their passes on feet. It's ok to pass and charge sometimes, but in order to beat a good team possession is the key. Possession parlays your chances for more goals.

I agree. The pack it in mindset leads to having to kick the ball clear far too often. It takes the midfield and forwards out of the mix and is not a style that is conducive to passing and ball control.

There is so much more to the game and scoring goals isn't easy. A coach must recognize and adjust their style of play against superior teams. Playing a counterattacking style doesn't mean playing direct or kick ball. When you are outmatched, the longer you keep your team in the game, the more the opponent starts to panic and your team gains confidence. When you are outmatched and down 1-0 or 2-0 early in the game, you can forget it.

Outmatched? Perhaps you're not giving CC their due. If they could travel to Park Hills and beat the Pandas, they might be a pretty good team. Were they really outmatched against WJ?

This WJ team you seem to be putting down is an excellent team and I have them as a favorite to win the title. Go look at their schedule for this year and how they did against it! CC played very well staying in the game and only losing 1-0.

There is always a weaker team on the field. Coaches that understand that and adjust their playing style can win even when they are outmatched.

Fair enough. I haven't seen WJ play, so I'll trust your eyes. Maybe those of us in NKy just get hammered too much with how good NDA is.

I didn't see the same thing, were you actually at the game? WJ did not impress me. If the Camels would have came out of half time with the same intensity that they played the first half with, WJ doesn't score. NDA will smash them, just my opinion.

Campbell had the luxury of netting a goal against ND half way through the first half. Again, if you can get an early lead, fortune favors your team. If CC had netted a goal first against WJ, I think the game could've turned out in their favor. When CC was down late in the 2nd half, I didn't see them pull an extra defender or two up to increase their chances to score and tie it up. Disappointed in that decision. You have to try, right?

I was not at the game so my opinions are based on seeing them play other teams. Every game is different for sure. Some teams just match up better against other teams. One of the girls could have sprained her ankle the day before. There is so much more that we don't know as spectators. I too am surprised to hear they didn't try or go for broke. Losing 1-0 or 2-0 is still a loss. I wonder if they had anything left in the tank. Again, which team subbed more? The unlimited subs of high school soccer makes the bench players almost as important as the starters.
