Mayfield's New Scoreboard
I don't like the scores that I have seen on the old one so I don't keep any pictures This is from the original "Damaged" thread

Dixie 7 on 7 (7-24)
Yes, but not necessarily "BEST COW" just the won chosen to wear the Bell I get what you are saying and certainly the true meaning is "Lead Cow" I use it all the time --probably incorrectly, but I rarely, if ever user it to mean the LITERAL Best" I think we read too much into some post and put words in people's mouths. I just don't believe that QS was trying to say he would be the Best or No. 1 QB in NKY. I'm actualy quietly a strong critic of QuickSlick and rarely agree with him, but in this case I believe he's using this correctly and understand what he means. On the other hand, Moore may, in-fact be the the Flavor of the year in NKY because many have moved on from Barker now that he has committed. He may also end up the leader stats-wise. Wasn't Pike all the things that Barker is/was recruiting-wise? He certainly wasn't the best QB in NKY in any of his years.

Any other Beechwood commits?
There are not a lot of 2014 Seniors at that Level. Certainly no other D1 Talent in 2014 class at Beechwood. I think there are plenty of kids that can play Small College ball if they had the dime. Booth is focused enough on Baseball that he could end up a a solid school with a decent money. Injury and Lack of opportunity during the Meherhoff years really affected others. Of course, summer ball is where you make your prescense known. So I will put that on them. Outside of Suchaneks level, I expect you won't hear of any Baseball commits until the early spring.

Mayfield's New Scoreboard
What would better be? I think its a great classic scoreboard and a great replacement for the old "Classic" they had. What more do you need?

Dixie 7 on 7 (7-24)
I don't see where he ever used the phrase "Best QB in NKY" The "Bell Cow" would not necessarily be the "Best", but rather one that everyone is looking at. I use the term often and I don't know that I ever mean it to necessarily mean the "BEST"

Dixie 7 on 7 (7-24)
Been saying all along. Beechwood is deep in the receiver spot. Fast kids that can go deep and a few that may be a bit slower, but that can absolutely catch the ball. Didn't get to see anything yesterday, but I'm very excited about the prospects of the returning receiver talent (WR and Slot) combined with Fieger and addition of Slusher at WR. Had most of the talent last year, but until Fieger got there, there wasn't anyone that could do a progression. Prior to the playoffs, If the Primary receiver wasn't open, the QB was running. If coaches do it right, I expect see at least 8 different players with receptions in any given game. Last year you only had to defend one receiver well against Beechwood. If you could guess where they were going (not hard) and put your best guy on them, you could shut them down. This year, you better have some studs back there, because Feiger can buy some time and he's total capable and more importantly, WILLING to take short yardage. If Beechwood's coaches allow him to take the First Down instead of always going for the Touchdown, it will be an amazing year. Far different from the passing game of the previous 2 or 3.

Dave Brossart talks Dixie Heights Football 2013
It looks like Dave has his boys pumped up and excited to play. I heard they were very Spirited in the 7 on 7 yesterday. It's good see a turn-around like that.

Peddicord resigns from St Henry
My comments are specifically geared towards the Baseball vs Soccer arguments. I do get what you are saying, but Basketball, Volleyball and the Dry Swimteam:ohbrother: don't wear out or destroy a playing surface. I just don't see how anyone looks at the Baseball and Softball programs at St. Henry and says that they are getting shorted in any way. They are two of the nicest stadiums in NKY. I realize that was a lot of work from for coaches, parents and players. You do what you have to do to make it work. I'm a Beechwood alum and there are no more over-used facilities than those at Beechwood. Beechwood Baseball field becomes a soccer field in July. In fact, when I was up there last week, I noticed 2nd and 3rd bases are now covered with SOD. I guess that means no Fall Baseball at Beechwood.

Peddicord resigns from St Henry
St. Henry does have two Soccer teams. When the Girls are playing, the boys can't have practice. You also have 4 teams playing games on that field. So scheduling is a problem. Soccer is very tough on a Grass Field and if you want to keep your Playing Field nice, you have to practice somewhere else. Why do parents create the divisions in the programs? Everyone should be working to do whatever gives the kids the best opportunity for the kids to play. Beechwood's Baseball team does use the Football Field for pre-season practices/scrimmages. As far as I know, nobody has a problem with it. I thought I was told by a St. henry parent that everything for the Soccer Practice Field was donated.

Beechwood's Jason Suchanek Commits
Congrtulations to Jason. He is the hardest working Baseball Player I know. Goes from Game or Practice directly to the batting cage. He puts the ball in play and rarely strikes out. It will be fun to get to watch him play college nearby.

Mayfield , Beechwood , Danville are more of a dynasty than Trinity
I'm not sure what side of the argument you are making, but LLOYD is the same as Beechwood, right? Independent? Just because they don't choose to leave Beechwood or Highlands district to go to the other schools doesn't mean they can't? Unless, as other have pointed out, the district closes outside enrollment.

Ranking Class 1A
Not sure what's with all the Young and Inexperienced comments about this Beechwood Team. There is no doubt that Beechwood lost some Talent, but by my estimates there are at least 15 players that played 1st team ball in the playoffs last year. Add In the Truly "young" talent that any team would kill to have and "young and inexperienced" just will not be problem. While you don't replace a Max Nussbaum, the truth is every other player's shoes will be filled nicely. While it may take a few players to fill in for Nussbaum, I like the combination punch of Stringer, Thomas and Studer to do that job. I predict there will be alot of surprised BGP'ers early in the season.

Best QB to WR threat for underclassmen
Definitely think this will be a great combo, but are Juniors underclassmen?

How many Frosh does NCC project to have?
Yousa! Some very inaccurate statements here. I'll take any deserved arrogance from HHS fans over your jealousy any day. You are just wrong on so many things. HHS and Beechwood are consistently nationally ranked in all areas of academics. That includes ACT scores. While I'm sure NCC does a great job, I can assure you that parents send their kids to HHS for Academic reasons as much as, or more than Athletic ones. I know in the case of Beechwood, there are as many Academic-only tuition students as there are Atheltically motivated ones. I assume its very similar for Highlands. NCC is just in a downturn due to economy. Hopefully they will recover. It gets more and more difficult to attract students to parochial schools. Especially when there are great alternatives that do not come with high tuition costs. Let's face it, the 30K to 50K for 12 year education is huge hurdle to overcome for most families. So doing it simply for Religious reasons is going away. If I'm going to pay tuition, its going to be for Academic reasons. NCC needs to study what CCH is doing right to draw students in. Despite the economy and higher tuition costs, the CCH enrollment seems to skyrocket year after year. Living in the community, I see their efforts all the time. They are constantly pushing for enrollment. Probably most importantly, their Alumni is an a very active recruiting machine. Your comment about HHS being "Private" is just ignorance, jealousy or more than likely, both.

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Oops, I got messed up with the two Combs names. I was just talking to someone about how well Niehaus pitched so I'm not sure how I got them confused. Nevertheless, great day for Combs at the plate. My apologies to Niehaus

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Please edit your post so the Quote is correct and we can separate your posts from the other. Agree, I thought it was a bad call, but I was on 1st base side. After speaking with Beechwood fans that were directly behind Home Plate, they said that it was indeed a bit wide and had been called a BALL ALL Night Long. In short, good CALL. Even it was a Strike, you can't argue with consistency.

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Congratulations to Mr. Combs will have much to think about all summer long. Not only a great Pitching outing, but topped it off with a Walk-off HR. They have a whale of a game tonight, but he will get to remember that shot for a long time. How many times do you think he has played out that scenario in the backyard. I did it, my sons do it and I'm sure almost every ball player has done it. He got to live it out for real. what a great night for him. His first High School HR is a Walk-off Grand Slam in the Regional Tourney. Man, even as a BW fan, it makes me smile just thinking about it.

Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Was it really that big of a deal? The student in question went a bit overboard in supporting his classmates. I know many Beechwood Fans that didn't even know it happened. If a Dixie parent generalized and said all Beechwood Students/Players are "TOOLS" its not good, but not really a big deal either. All of it crosses the line a bit, but give me a break. While I was shocked that it was this particular student, he did not expose himself as the statements suggest. I do think that Administrators should speak with him... about his choice of underwear color. Apparently he is getting ready to support UK with the same enthusiasm. As for a bat thrown into the stands (NOT TOG), give me a break! That would entail a player running out of a dugout with a bat past the end of the nets (they go from 1st Base to 3rd base there) and hurling a bat into the stands. Stupid statements like this should not be repeated and unless you witness something like that first hand, shut the hell up. Negative comments that begin with "I heard..." are cowardess and immature. What I witnessed was a team that has done some growing up under Coach Mullins. No ugliness, just very disapointed kids who walked the handshake line displaying good sportsmanship. I would say that was a very humbling experience for Stringer and in the long run will serve him well. IMO, much better than winning would have. I have witnessed embarassing behavior from him in both Football and Baseball, but tonight I was proud that he was representing BW.

Ryle 7 Covington Catholic 2 (9th Region 1st Round)
If he was knocked out as the picture and others have suggested, then I can't believe anyone on the medical staff would allow him to continue. If you are knocked out, you suffered a significant head injury. Plain and Simple.

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
Maybe you should put your money where your mouth is. Koch's has all the gear you need to get started. There is already a shortage of umpires and people like you don't help the situation.

Bob Beiger out at Cooper
I don't think the "Old School" was in reference to training and development methods, but rather his approach to the personal and discipline side of things. I have not experienced him directly. I have heard nothing but great things about him as a Baseball Person and Coach. Having just joined, I just read through this entire thread. Clearly there a few folks that do not like him, but the majority of those who know the positive aspects of his approach far out-weigh the others. My kids are not quite High School playing age, but I'm looking forward and hoping that they have coaches like Coach Beigs. Its hard to ask for anything more than dedication to the kids and the game. It certainly sounds like he has more than most when it comes to that.

NKY JV Tournaments Brackets
Hyde is a good pitcher, but clearly Miller is better against Ryle. Pretty good movement and a decent Curve Ball. I won't take anything away from Hyde. It's a matter of the right man for the Job. Coaches probably should have started Miller given his outing against Ryle just a few weeks earlier. I think Miller is better against Ryle because they are Fast Ball hitters. I think Miller has some great movement on his off-speed stuff. Certainly good placement. Not sure how you call that a "Dropped Foul Ball". Had he made the catch, we would be on here saying ... "after an amazing foul catch". I was in Left field near the Bull Pen and it disappeared for me. That ball went at least 50 ft above the lights. Major League height without Major League lighting. In the 6 or 7 BW JV games I saw this year, I don't recall more than 1 Error. In fact, I couldn't believe when I heard that he hasn't been playing Varsity. If any team could use some catching help, its the BW varsity. In 5 BW varsity games I saw, I think they averaged at least 2 passed-balls per game. Does anyone know what grade the JV catcher is in?
