That's really unfortunate to hear as Doug was a darn good coach and an even better person. I only had the pleasure of talking to him a few times and enjoyed each of them.

Without knowing anything of the situation, I would have to think that this move comes due to work. I know there were games last year he couldn't make or had to leave early from to get to his job. If that is the reason, I applaud him for the decision because taking care of your family is more important than a game.

Seniors next year get their 4th head coach in 4 years. Thanks to coach Peddicord for his time last year. Had to be rough with his late work schedule.

Very sad to hear. Coach Peddicord was a great coach and a good mentor for the fine young men at St. Henry. Its very unfortunate that the seniors will now have their 4th coach. Certainly indicates that the St Henry AD / Jay Grau and Admin Staff don't care about their baseball program. I can say this as I HAVE NOT seen any of the Admin staff at any of the St H games in 4 years!!!. VERY SAD!! Something needs to change!!! Seems like all they care about is their soccer and track program. Again justified to say this as St H is building yet another soccer field. REALLY? Two soccer fields?!!! Where's the money for the baseball and softball programs? NOTHING HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THESE PROGRAMS IN 4 YEARS!!! The only money that was given to the baseball program in 4 years was the annual money raised from the kid glove money. REALLY?!!! Where did the gate money go that you charged everyone to get in this year? Gee, soccer program? LOL!!! Wake up St Henry Admin!!!

Considering the quality of fields that both baseball and softball have at St Henry it's a tough sell to many to get them to buy the thought that St H administration doesn't care about the programs.

From what I hear, that field quality is deteriorating some due to what kywonder commented on. This is all second hand information and I would hope people closer to the program set me straight where I am wrong, but it seems the administration has baseball at the bottom of their list. The turnover in coaches sure is an indicator that something is amiss.

The good news for the players, they have had some very good coaches at the helm. Best wishes that St. Henry finds another high quality coach to fill the position.

In regards to the coaching turnover... Walt was there for quite a few years and was let go because of differences. I believe Mullins had the intentions of building St. Henry up but neither he nor the SH administration could have predicted that Myerhoff would be let go at Beechwood, creating an opening which Mullins coveted. And as for Doug, I am sure he wish it worked out but with his work schedule (once again I'm assuming this is the reason for his resignation) it wasn't working out for him or the program so why put two parties in a bad spot?

While the administration may share some blame in the turnover, I don't think you can put it all on them. Some of it is merely the circumstances that arose.

As for the field, when I was there this past season the field was still in very good shape. They had even reseeded (maybe resodded) parts before the season to keep it up to standard.

It's a soccer practice field, not a game field and it was done because the soccer teams were practicing in a clearing in the woods over at Christo Rey or any open field they could find. The soccer program gets very little from the athletic department because they don't ask for it. Much of what they have comes from the hard work of the teams, coaches and parents. The baseball team has a very nice facility, that is very well taken care of. . .. I am sure if the program went to the athletic department with a need they would be listened to. To get on here and bash successful programs sounds more like sour grapes on your part than a reasonable argument on why the baseball team is on their 4th coach in 4 years.

nkuclub pretty much nailed it. doug is a personal friend.talked to him today, work schedule, and forced o.t. made it a tough thing to pull off. i am a coach....been there....done that.i understand!!! he is a good man.he will be missed.good luck to him.

as far as the field, one thing i thought they couldn't do was charge for games. [except district & regional] i thought that was part of the deal when they built it. i know the kremer family.have met paul a few times.thought i heard him tell me that once. anyway,if i'm wrong, i'm sure i will be........slapped!!! ....lol!!! good luck to st. henry on their search for a new coach. later gators!!!!

Speaking as a St. Henry alum who played for both coach Bieger and Terrell, that field was built by the coaches and players. Countless hours of sweat and hard work. The kids used to be on that field working until coach Bieger had to bring his truck up to the field and turn his lights on. Warning track, cut outs, edging, fences in front of the dugout, trees planted behind the outfield fence, wind screens, etc etc was all the work of the coaching staff and kids. And a HUGE part of all of it was Gil Hitchcock. That man was there with coach Biegs and Terrell and works and unbelievable amount of hours on that field.

I have to agree after going through the program that the administration does not care about the baseball or softball programs very much at all. There were times while I was at the school that we got kicked out of the gym for intramural volleyball IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL! I also know more than a few people that are on the board there and sadly enough KyWonder hit the nail on the head. I also thought it was funny that they were charging 5 dollar admission this year when I was always told that Paul Kramer told them that if his name were on that field they were not to charge admission. If that is true, I would sure hope Mr. Kramer doesn't get wind of that!

I also had heard about the "not charging admission" thing, so I asked the school about this earlier this year. Here is part of the reply...Mr. Otte wanted to speak w/ Mr. Kramer to make sure he hadn't forgotten about any such stipulation and he was able to get in touch w/ him yesterday.Mr. Kramer confirmed that he never asked the school to not charge for baseball or softball games. In fact, he said that he wondered why we hadn't started charging for admissions earlier since most every other school in our area charges. We're not sure how that rumor got started, but hopefully this will help clear up any confusion.

It's a shame they are looking again for a coach. I don't really know coach peddicord but I am sure he knew what he was getting into as far as the time commitment. His son played in the program, I believe. More so the administration should have known his job and what they were getting themselves into. He was a paraprofessional. I feel bad for the kids. Tough situation

So True Butterfingers!! So True!! Not the coaches fault. Doug is a good man.

Way too many politics at St Henry. Again, it's all about Soccer and Track. Imagine if St Henry had football? WOW!! So many kids would go to this school. You build a class field just for soccer not football? then you build another "practice" field for soccer. Really? My opinion; St H admin thinks that football doesn't bring kids who want a solid education. So WRONG!! Again, change needs to happen!! So tired of hearing past coaches complain about the St H Admin politics. That's the TRUE reason the coaches leave. FACT not fiction folks. I have the inside and facts. Please do not respond if you do not have the FACTS!!

I heard that Myerhoff is interested in the job. :idunno:

1. First of all, I don't think the school needs all this negativity.

2. Last I heard, enrollment is up. Incoming freshman class is about the size of the one that just graduated, which was one of the bigger classes.

3. My kid practiced soccer at Mary Queen of Heaven for 3 seasons. Nice to

have a place on campus to practice now.

4. I think new tennis courts are also being built next to the soccer field?

5. Plus plans for an auditorium because, well, sports is not the only extracurricular.

6. Sure it would be great to have a football program. But they don't. We all know that going in. And it's not hurting enrollment.

7. Class of 2013 had 6 Governor's Scholars and a record year of scholarship offers. Just sayin...

8. There are a lot of things that I'm not thrilled with at St Henry. But there is also a lot of really great stuff going on at that school.

9. Hope they find a new baseball coach soon. Lots of great kids and nice families supporting the baseball program.

10. Back to point #1. I don't think the St Henry bashing benefits anyone.
