Ten I heard.

WHAT !!!!

Didn't they only have like 14 8th graders on their ms team last year or something like that?

If true, that is amazing for a team that is competing for, and winning many, State Championships every year.

Haven't the numbers been low for the past few years? What is the reason?

I'm surprised NKYfootballfan91 was commented on this.

There are a few reasons.

A. For the Ft. Thomas crew, it is either go to Highlands for free, and play for the top program in the area or pay tuition and play for one of the top programs in the area. Can't speak for the Alexandria contingent.

B. It is a cyclical thing. Numbers will fluctuate. If you can keep 10 Freshman for four years and some kids come from soccer (WRs and such) like has happened in the past, you get a good core of 13-14 seniors. That's good for AA.

Those are two of the biggest reasons.

I would have to say declining enrollment in the feeder schools hurt as well. The cost to send a kid to a private catholic school is getting very expensive. Brand new public schools can not help that issue either. There are now nice options in brand new buildings as Campbell County has done a good job improving their product.

Also heard St Joes cold spring, which often sends a lot of kids up on the hill, had around 10 kids go to Cov Cath this coming year. Not sure if they are footballers, but numbers are numbers.

That sure didn't help.

Also many of the girls from St. Joes Cold Spring are going to Notre Dame.

Just wondering how many students will be entering NCC in the fall as Freshmen?

I know this incoming freshmen class will be even larger than the entering 10th grade class, as that class was the largest in many, many years, so back to back huge (for CovCath at least) classes in Park Hills.

Less than 100.

New Cath may be heading to 1A the next time they do reclassification.

Less than 100; assume 50 boys; 50 x 4 classes = 200 boys.

That is right at the cut off between 1A and 2A. As a Beechwood fan, I can honestly say it would be awesome to have NCC back in 1A. That rivalry will ramp back up again to where it was 4-5 years ago.
