  1. If I remember right, thats a big IF..... Trinity was marching and had the ball inside the 10 with 4th down and less than just a few seconds left on the clock. 4th down pass into endzone was incomplete. Place went crazy!!!!! Now for bonus points, what was the final?
  2. Trinity pulls out all the stops and beats Collerain (sp)? this Friday. 28 - 24. . .
  3. Little things count. The attention to detail is not apparent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the half time X sends out special teams kickers to practice FG's and kick offs... But no special teams coach..... Just seems to me by watching the kids practice one could tell who is focused, ready, hot, cold, etc...... don't understand that....
  4. X needs to win big for their own pride and confidence. From what I have seen, not sure they are capable of a 55 - 7 win. Yes I do think they will win on Friday night, however, there needs to be some changes and lets see if this staff can pull it off against an undersized and matched Fairdale bunch. If they can't do it this week, the next several weeks are gonna be tough.....
  5. for what it is worth => Yes, I would say BG is NO. 1 or No. 2. Scott Co. is in there somewhere. T NO. 3..... X lets be generous and say No. 10 . . ...
  6. What are we going to do with those Tigers???? Well too have to call them as I see them. Observations made at the game Friday vs. BG. 1. Overall team is playing with very little emotion. Like everyone is waiting for someone else to do something.... This is not St. X football and one only team they can beat is themselves... 2. I know its early, however, I did expect to see some improvement in the QB play and Defensive secondary. These two areas alone, if we played OK, we would probably be 3 - 0. I'm wanting to be impressed by Nagle, yet I have seen him make one play in the two games I have seen. That was the 30+ yard pass during the Ballard game for a TD. His running, mobility and ability to scramble are nothing to be scared of if you are an oposing team. Actually I think you can count on a big night of pass rushing an sacks!!! Sorry folks, I believe, but I need to see as well..... 3. Kick offs have been struggling to get to the 10....!!! Some may have hit the End Zone, but that appears to be the exception. Hard to imagine that no one on the team can kick the ball in the end zone 8 out of 10 trys!!! 4. I have said it befor and I will say it again. O-Linemen foot speed is just too slow. While the size is very good, speed is very slow. If there are 4 to 5 kids on the team that have quicker footspeed and can stay with their block and then get to the next block and make it.... the X running backs can make some hay!!!! But now they are too bush running east -west instead of north and south...!!! It has been long belief of mine that the reason (the Weeds) have had X's number of late is due to the lack of footspeed on the O-Line. Enough soap box... I'm ready to see St. X play some St. X football......
  7. Just wanted to say a Big "Congrats" to the BG team, coaches and fans. BG deserves all the credit! Kids played hard, smart and with determination!!! Outstanding job!!!!! Program is on the rise for sure!!! Good luck the rest of the way and good luck with that win streak and the State Championship!!!!
  8. ^ and ^^ Yes I understand. NO stated or implied down grading to anyone or any program. (I think I said that in the opening post) NKY football is in no doubt on the rise. Good Luck this weekend and hope to see NKY football represented in December.
  9. I have no idea?? I think the attendance at the X home opener was something like 5,000. It looked like more... I heard T has ~ 9,000 at their home opener. Any other programs that are packin the fans in???? What is attendance at BG and HHS??
  10. Big challenge for the Colts. Hope they are up to the challenge!! Based off of early season results, DeSales has it going in the right direction. Good Luck and enjoy the north bound trip!!!!
  11. ^ Thanks to evryone for the input. Lots of good insight into this issue. If I was to make a poll / ranking, it would not do me, the team I support, or anyothers in Jefferson County to know that they are "ranked" in the NorthCentral Kentucky Region. One could also say the Jefferson County and surrounding counties Poll.... Just doesn't mean anything...! Now if there is a overall State Ranking in 6A, then that tells me where we are at and where we need to go to achieve our goal. The focus is on the prize at the end of the season, not the interm regional poll after week 3, for example. Good Luck to all teams this weekend. Several big games. Wish I could see all of them, but will only see one.
  12. Does SK have year round weight training for its players? If not, that is a good way to make progress as well. I would think that they already do have year round training. The challenge is how to make it better and more effective. You can never push to hard to achieve your ultimate goal...
  13. Sounds like SK is building!!! This is a major step in the right direction. Need to add some Championships to the resume to be included in the TOP of the State programs. In time, they may get there.... Its good to hear that SK has good/excellent numbers, now what are you going to do with them????
  14. If one thinks they are going to improve their program to the level of reaching the 6A championship game by playing a schedule that consists of teams like Fairdale, Waggner, Southern, Seneca, Lou. Holy Cross, Lou. Christian Academy, etc. , better keep buying lotto tickets...... Ballard learned a great deal in the game against St. X. Heck, with the tallent they have, the next time they will give X all they want, maybe more. Yes, it is to Ballard's benefit to play St. X. BTW - they make a little $$$$ as well.
  15. You may have missed the point. Stats are good. Rankings are good (the last week of the season). If one is going to compare, compare against all in class (A, AA, AAA etc) and not in particular region. Seems it may send the wrong message to the younger players that being no. 1 in NKY is the one and only goal. While that is a major accomplishment, I doubt that it is the ultimate goal of many programs. In general, the NKY folks give a lot of heat to the Lousiville teams (justified) and vise versa. Seems that their are a number of programs in NKY that want to be No. 1 in KY. Not sure those school hang their hats on being No. 1, 2 or 3 in NKY. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong! Just wish programs would have the vision to overachieve. Great things can happen when that is a significant part of the mental preparation for the young athletes.
  16. I see here on BGP a lot of polls like 1. Top three QBs in Northern KY., 2. NKY top 10 teams.... Seems to me that this folks have asperations to be no. 1 in NKY only!!! If one would broaden the scope of their poll, one might get to see really where they rank. No offense to any one or any team. This type of thinking may lay the ground work for being no. 1 in NKY but no. 2 in the state??? Just sayin, sounds kinda YMCA'ish to me. I think NKY teams would be better to compare themselves to the rest of the state to know where they are and were they need to go. Any thoughts???
  17. Trinity focuses on Defense this week and it shows . . . T wins 34 - 13.
  18. Tigers need to get ready for BG!!!! Pay back time!!!!! Execute the game plan! Go Tigers!!!
  19. I think X wins this one in a barn burner.... Ill say it goes down to the last minute before the outcome is determined. X has shown that it can run the ball. Play very good defense just as long as the opponent doesn't get to 3rd down and 9!!!!!!!!! Pass defense has to step up this week. If X gives up three TD's to "poor" de. ep pass defense, then BG will enjoy a ride back to BG!!!!. I'm thinking the X staff will fix this problem this week. Fixed the special teams last week with the x-pt team being perfect on 7 for 7. I also think that X gave a game away last year and has that on their mind.... as in its not going to happen again!!!! Really looking forward to this one. This will propell the winner into a very good season. the loser will have to regroup and refocus on the road ahead. Maybe a loss in this game is best for either team as it prepares them for the real road a head..... In any event, enjoy, have fun, come early, tailgate, take in the H.S. experience at St. X stadium!!! Safe travels for all coming from BG!
  20. Trinity gets a taste of victory this week. Rocks will win easy, 32 - 7, in this game. Lampley has already warned Beaty that 2 L's in a row and your on the chompin block...... !!!!
