Coach Jackson is Not Very Smart?

I don't think it's smart for any 6A to play either (T or X) if they don't have to. It will be hard enough to beat those guys playing them once much less twice.

Coach Jackson has been complimented for stepping up and scheduling Saint Xavier this year. Many have said Coach Jackson has Ballard on the right path to compete in 6A. But, it appears some think Coach Jackson is not very smart for scheduling Saint Xavier.

Agree, or disagree?

If one thinks they are going to improve their program to the level of reaching the 6A championship game by playing a schedule that consists of teams like Fairdale, Waggner, Southern, Seneca, Lou. Holy Cross, Lou. Christian Academy, etc. , better keep buying lotto tickets...... Ballard learned a great deal in the game against St. X. Heck, with the tallent they have, the next time they will give X all they want, maybe more. Yes, it is to Ballard's benefit to play St. X. BTW - they make a little $$$$ as well.

As much as people want to deny it X and T are not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. If other 6A schools ever hope to compete with them they need to play them IMVHO. At least Coach J seems to be willing and sees what he needs to do to improve his program.

Scheduling difficults ooponents sure has worked for Coach Scroggins at Central. Can't argue with the results.

I think he is a very smart coach. By playing them in regular season, you get over the awe factor in the playoffs. I believe Ballard and Trinity will get together in football and basketball in the near future. The competition is good. The fan support is there. The money generated isn't too shabby. Coach J has it right. Denny Crum adhered theory for many seasons as U of L head basketball coach.

I'm the one who said it so I guess I will defend it. You can play opponents that will be of equal quality without playing T or X. Most years you will not be able to match either in talent or numbers. The less they know about your team the better chance you have. Playing them in the regular season when you don't have to just gives them free info about your team. It will be hard enough to beat them as it is, why handicap yourself further. Again there are plenty of strong programs you can play if your looking for strong competition. Cincy schools, Indy, TN, Highlands, Bowling Green, ect...

woodsrider, if you were a 6A coach and you wanted to compete with T and X, who would you schedule?

KY Schools- Bowling Green old be a good start considering they've beaten X recently. Highlands would be another.

Non KY Schools - take your pick

How hard would it be to schedule those schools? May be that it is easier said than done.

I'll only say this about this thread...

After 20 years of marriage, my wife LOVES the title. She has a little problem with the punctuation at the end, however.

Nothing but total respect for the Ballard program. Hope they succeed. Just don't beat my Tigers in the playoffs!

Funny tid bit, I originally left the question mark off, then thought that looked like we were picking on you, so I went back and added it later.

Keep up the good work Coach.

My wife would've put about 10 exclamation points at the end. Good luck to you, Coach.
