As I said earlier, this information can be found on the public school websites. I followed my own advice and visited several websites in a span of about 30-45 minutes. Not all had salary schedules, but I did find the following: Fort Thomas Independent Schools pays their head football coach extra service pay of $9202 in 2015-16, it was $8201 in 2009-10. Assistant coaches get $6567 this year, $5853 in 2009-10. Jefferson County Public Schools pay their head coaches on a scale based on years of service. The head football coach for 2015-16 makes from a minimum of $4546 on step 0 to a max of $7388 on step 4. Assistant coaches make from $2727 to $4433. Lincoln County Schools paid their head football coach $11,111 in 2014-15 and two assistants at $4549 and $2915. Beechwood Independent Schools paid their head football coach $8500 in 2014-15 and up to 4 assistant coaches $5500.

You should be able to look salaries up on the public school's websites along with the teacher's salary schedule. I taught in Ohio (and negotiated teacher's salaries) and our coach's extra curricular salaries were pegged to the teacher's base salary, but I don't know about KY.

As I said in another thread. This is the third season (1st = non-district and 2nd = district). It does not matter what happened in the first two seasons, the 6 teams that go 5-0 in the third season (playoffs) get the big trophies, named champions and lots of bragging rights. Male still is only 3-0, there are two games more to go to get the trophy, anything can happen.

But at the same time, PC has only beaten 3 KY teams with winning records (I cannot find the record of the Indiana school) in Henry Clay (7-5), Southwestern (8-4) and NL (11-2). Not the best SOS there either. This game could be a dandy. Highlands and home field advantage vs a long bus trip from Somerset could be the deciding factor. I'll take HHS by a JD field goal 38-35.

Big Question: Will Male have an emotional dropoff or will they show up with the same intensity as they did against Trinity? IMHO, if they have an emotional dropoff they are vulnerable, it they play with the same intensity, then it will be no contest. Only time will tell.

It seems that about two years ago, the same question was asked about the Highlands vs CovCath Regional final in 4A, but the Collins Titans had other ideas. Maybe tonight was the championship, but Male cannot count on the trophy being mailed to them, they have to earn it on the field at WKU in Bowling Green.

Many of you are not old enough to remember the 1960 - '70 era, but there were some very good teams back in those days. Remember in those days there were only 3 classes in KHSAA football with Class AAA being exclusively Jefferson County schools. 1960 12-0 Class AA Champions Head coach was Homer Rice. First of the now 23 KHSAA (on field) Championships. They outscored their opponents 432-65 including 7 shutouts. Wins included a win over Class AAA champion Louisville Male. 1961 12-0 Class AA Champion Head coach was Homer Rice. They outscored their opponents 497-64 including 5 shutouts and were unscored on during the playoffs. 1964 13-0 Class AA Champions Head coach was Owen Hauck. They outscored their opponents 423-63 including 8 shutouts including a 36-0 finals win over Richmond Madison. 1968 13-0 Class AA Chamipon Head coach was Mike Murphy. Outscored their opponents by 608-43 including 7 shutouts. Only allowed one extra point all season, to Elizabethtown in the championship game. 1970 14-0 Class AA Champions Head coach was Mike Murphy. They outscored their opponents by 507-62 including 8 shutouts. They began the season by beating Madisonville (with Alfred 'Sonny' Collins) 27-14 in the Recreation Bowl in Mt. Sterling and ended the season by defeating Madisonville (with Alfred 'Sonny' Collins) 30-13 in the championship game. Madisonville finished the season with a 12-2 record. Alfred 'Sonny' Collins went on to play his college football at UK.

In Fort Thomas at David Cecil Memorial Stadium watching the Bluebirds and the Colonels. Hopefully at my usual playoff spot, 50 yd line 3 rows from the top, but the I would love to have to sit somewhere else because it is packed with fans. Go Birds!! BTW, Saturday I will be @ Mason High School in Ohio for the Colerain Cardinals vs the Elder Panthers. Go Cards!!

It looks like a WKU win this weekend against UTEP would still leave then undefeated in the conference. However Marshall has only one loss in conference and still means that the winner of the MU @ WKU game will win the conference USA East championship, unless WKU beats UTEP AND FIU (5-5) beats Marshall @ Marshall, then WKU wins it no matter what they do against Marshall. So hold onto your hats, it looks like it will come down to the MU @ WKU game on 11/27 at Noon ET.

According to Highlands Bluebirds - Head Coaches, Owen Hauck was 48-8-1 in 5 years at Highlands. So using old style math (not Common Core) that means that he was 210-101-0 in 25 years at Boone County.

Highlands wins at home. Trying to show that the 1-5 start was not what this team is about. Remember. This is the third season (1=non district. 2=district) and the team that goes 5-0 gets the big trophy and State Title no matter what the record was in the first two seasons.

My bad, it should be at Madison Southern, they were the #1 seed from their district. District 5 beat District 6 in 3 of the four games tonight.

A clarification question and comment: The times listed above are: Thursday at 8 PM, Saturday at 6 pm and 9 pm and Sunday at 2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm. The Question: Since the KHSAA usually list the game times on their website as local BG (central time) times. I am assuming that they have kept with that protocal, am I right or have they listed them as Eastern times since the KHSAA offices are in Eastern time? If they are using Central times as has been their norm, that means the games are actually 9 PM on Friday , 7 PM and 10 PM on Saturday and 1 PM, 4:30 PM and 8 PM in the Eastern time zone. Since at least one team in the A final, and possibly both (as 24 of the 31 teams playing are form Eastern time) will be from the Eastern time zone, that is awfully late for a game and then many fans driving home to school or work on Friday. Same problem with the Sunday night 4A championship and work or school on Monday, especially for Johnson Central.
