Seven of the 28 past winners (25%) did not play in the championship game the year they won the award, so it is not necessary to play in the championship game to be Mr. Football, but the last time it happened was 2006. However, Mr. Football is for 2014, not for a career. Harris is the top recruit for things he did in years past, not in 2014.

It will be awfully hard for a Triple Option team to beat Highlands. It could be done, but Owensboro will have to limit Turnovers and have long sustained TD drives to keep the ball out of Hoge's hands. I think Highlands wins number 7 in the last 8 years.

Baby sitting grandchildren this weekend. The wife and I have wanted to see all 6 for several years, not have never done it. Sorry to bust your bubble, but Pulaski County lost the 5A finals to Bowling Green last year. So only one newcomer.

Makes a good story, but for that to happen, the Hoge family would have had to move to Ohio. Under OHSAA bylaws, a student whose parents do not live in Ohio is ineligible to play at an OHSAA school.

There is no D in Hoge

When I was in HS at Highlands, it was charter buses (Airporters, not the Executive Charter) for all games because the school district did not own any Yellow school buses. I also remember two games (1964) when the students chartered buses for away games at McKell (regular season) and Hazard (state semi-finals). If fact for those games we effectively closed the school for the day when the buses left for the game.

With the proposed construction at EKU, scheduled to be completeded in 2016. Why not start in 2019 (after the latest contract with WKU ends) to alternate the championship games between EKU and WKU. EKU in even numbered years (when even districts, usually the eastern ones host the semi-final) and WKU in odd numbered years? Just a suggestion.

Since EKU has announced the building of better stands on the "Visitor's side" and the fact that they have field turf, why not alternate the championship games between EKU in Richmond and WKU in Bowling Green. Even numbered years in Richmond and odd numbered years in Bowling Green, similar to the way state semifinal sites are determined. This could start in 2019 giving EKU time to finish their construction project and after the new contract with WKU has expired. Just a thought.
