Hearsay
In the finals we have 3 teams from Western Ky., 3 teams from Eastern Ky., 3 teams from Northern Ky., and 3 teams from Louisville. Have 9 publics and 3 privates. Have first-timers (Graves Co., Pulaski Co.) and several old traditional matchups (Belfry-Central; NewCath-Desales; Mayfield; Trinity). We had some blowout semis, and we had several very hard fought nail-biter semis. Class system working as it should?
theguru
Yes I would like to see the classes reduced but you can't argue with the success this year. Congrats to all the teams that made it! And for everyone, you should come to WKY and take in some games, it is an awesome venue for football and the weather should be decent.
Cynical
Yep. You don't like 6 classes? Go back to Ohio. Great Semis!
blueknight
No. Too watered down. In my opinion there should be MAXIMUM 4 classes
littleluck55
But, If we make it 8, there would probably be a few more new teams in the final. If you are going to have 6, seemed to work this year. Round 1 needs to go away though.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but Pulaski County lost the 5A finals to Bowling Green last year. So only one newcomer.

Which of the 12 teams don't deserve an opportunity to play for a title?? In the end you're talking about 4 extra teams in the finals, and two extra games. Cutting it to 4 classes probably doesn't prevent any of the champs in the 6 class system from making the finals, doesn't save any time, make the season any shorter, or make any of the top 5 or 6 teams any more special. punttheball
Each class has 38 or so teams in it. To me, that is not enough.

Who is hurt is me as a fan. I would love to see a Highlands vs. Trinity match up. A Bowling Green vs. Trinity game. Or a match up of some of the traditionally strong small schools. Too diluted with only 30+ teams in each classification.

blueknight
A sure sign you have too many classes is when a team with ONE win makes the playoffs. That should NEVER happen
ATLCat
4 Class System: 1A: Mayfield vs. Beechwood 2A: DeSales vs. Belfry 3A: Central vs. Highlands 4A: Trinity vs. Dixie Heights

littleluck55
4 Class System: 1A: Mayfield vs. Beechwood 2A: DeSales vs. Belfry 3A: Central vs. Highlands 4A: Trinity vs. Dixie Heights I would love to see these games. Look at what the semifinal games would have been also. I would be ok with 6 classes if they limit it to top 2 from each district make it.
DragonFire
I don't think it can be disputed that it has worked this year. Even though I still only expect that 2A, 3A, and 5A will be good games.
