I am not taking anything away from Haddix or the Rebels at all but the self inflicted implosion of the Danville football program has definitely worked to Boyle's benefit since 2020. Again, not THE reason for their success but they have been able to amass talent more widely than before.

Preach. Danville is just now recovering from such a thing which set back our program years.

I think this would really enjoyable, especially for G5 teams. However, we run into the issues of player movement again like what college basketball has run into and I can see it hard for teams to get enough guys that want to beat themselves up over another 3-4 games for an NIT football title. That's why I think the sport is in a mess until something gets resolved with transfers or trying to lock players in for longer periods of time. Otherwise, this opt out problem will accelerate even more.

This is why as a Notre Dame fan I loved the Irish opting out of that silly Pop Tarts bowl. ESPN was vocal in propping up the SEC/ACC chances and doing negative PR against the Irish. So good on Notre Dame not giving ESPN ratings/a way to generate revenue from them for that game.

There are too many bowls as it is and once the playoff got introduced it makes these games meaningless. You get extra practices but in an era of player movement that means much less than it used to. I think the FBS should just mirror the FCS playoffs and make that the postseason. It's time for a new paradigm.

I've been watching Kentucky basketball for 30 years and this was the worst game I've ever seen UK play from start to finish. We can't shoot and there seems to be no urgency on defense. If Pope can't get this figured out, it's going to get ugly by mid-January.

Yeah, it's always been an oddity to me how they just haven't been able to be good in football considering the success of other sports. They've had some good coaches come through as well but nothing has clicked.
