  4. It's tough, because you could say the same thing about Johnson and Wells with Paris.

  6. I went to this game hoping to see if Adair is really a top 10-15 team in the state, and I walked away uncertain. I didn't think Adair looked that good against a Bryan Station team that didn't play its regulars for a lot of the game. However Adair, without arguably it's best player, won on the road by 19 against a relatively athletic team, despite not looking great. Only top 10 teams Scott Co (38 and 34) and Dunbar (21 and also 5) have defeated the Defenders by more.
  7. If it were to change I would go the other way, and just take the 4 district winners to play in the region. I've never understood district losers moving on, but no other post season loser staying alive (you don't see region runners-up playing in the state tournament). If you make this change, the KHSAA could allow for a 31st regular season game. I don't really like this super-regional idea. It devalues the district and adds a first round to the region that doesn't add much excitement.
  8. Nice break for Montgomery. It'll be a major long shot, but better off than playing Paris again.
  9. I was just lucky to figure it little less confidently than everyone else.
  10. Wow. I'm guessing the streak started around the Josh Carrier days?

  15. I think the top 8 are clearly the elite 8 teams in the state, especially when healthy.
  16. What's the story on Ramey? As an outsider, I would have gone with Corbin and South Laurel, but after SL's skid, it seems like it's anybody's opening as the top challenger to Corbin.
  17. Corbin is easily a top 20 team in the state, and going into the 13th region to play is very difficult to do. Corbin would be the top team in the 10th region. Simon Kenton on the other hand has losses at home to Scott and at Mason Co. They are only 6-10 since Christmas. They aren't really bad, but a home loss to Simon Kenton is much worse than a road loss at Corbin.
  18. He was just in a different class than everyone else last night. It was fun to watch him go to work. I definitely think he's a top 3 candidate for Mr Basketball, and though I think Hollingsworth probably wins it, I wouldn't be surprised if Dalton made a push.
  19. Those 60 points Dalton scored last night should help in that department.
  20. Very little. Dalton got to the basket whenever he wanted, and when he missed the first shot he'd just grab the offensive rebound and stick it back. Hughes do hit some tough shots for Greenup, but they also got lots of open 3s and run outs. Hubert also has 34 for the Musketeers. First game I can recall seeing where both teams broke 100, in regulation no less. Also the first 60 point game I think I've seen even.
  21. What a difference a two months makes. Paris won by 4 early in the season. Montgomery Co is now missing Canada, who is likely their best player, due to injury. He is really the only guy on the team that can create his own offense, is their best rebounder, and probably their most steady ball handler. Paris, on the other hand, just keeps getting better. Johnson really emerged a couple weeks into the year, and has turned into one of the best players in the region. He and Wells are probably the best tandem in the region, and the rest of Paris's rotation is really solid. The comparison between the two games is about as drastic a tale of two directions as you will find. In Montgomery Co, you see a team that has been negatively affected by their record, decimated with injuries, and is all out of sorts. In Paris, you see a team that has found a rhythm, figured out their roles, and grown in confidence.
