  1. I don't know if it is corrupt or inept, but it is far from perfect for sure. However, that CBS / Turner money pays for EVERY D-II and D-III championship / tournament that exists. Every. One.
  2. To people that are incredibly interested in this story and following it so closely: 1. Did you think players weren't getting money from someone at some point? Really? 2. Are you rooting for the complete collapse of college basketball, and then, by extension because it pays for EVERYTHING, college athletics? Why? 3. Are you thinking your school (not necessarily UK, but whatever school you cheer for) is the ONE school above all of this and will be the beneficiary of everyone around them being brought down? 4. Are you just someone who loves seeing others suffer, in some oddly sadistic sort of way? I took no enjoyment in UL's deal, I took none in Ohio State's, and I would take none in anyone else's. I love college basketball, I certainly know what it is having spent 5 years embedded deeply into it, and its "collapse" would provide me zero enjoyment. Ed Sumner taking money from an agent is surprising not at all, nor does it raise my interest or blood-pressure one iota. I have a lot of college coaches in my circle of friends, I know how hard their job is, and if Sean, or Chris, or Pat, or Dave, or Brad, or Jeff, or Whit, or any of them rest of them lose their job over this stuff, or get "caught up" in any of this, I'll feed badly for them. I know many others will dance on their graves, and hoot and holler that the "Cheaters" have been caught, but I won't be among those people whether my friends are caught up in it or they aren't.
  3. 7th - St Joe's Cold Spring advances to the Finals to play Sts. Peter & Paul.
  4. Three semi-finals are on the docket tonight at St. Joe's Cold Spring: * St. Paul vs. St. Joe's Cold Spring (7th Grade) [winner gets Sts. Peter & Paul in the Finals] * Holy Trinity vs. St. Pius (8th Grade) * Blessed Sacrament vs. St. Mary's (8th Grade) All three games should be really competitive, making for a great night of hoops.
  5. This is such an overplayed and lazy narrative. This deal has been the same way for a LONG time, so how does that support "this day of everyone..."? I have two kids that play a lot of competitive sports year-round, and neither have been given a participation trophy since they were 5 -- what am I doing wrong?
  6. Unbelievable result given how these two played over the last month. Congrats to Ryle, good that their younger players will get to experience the 9th Region tourney.
  7. End of an era for Coach L, Godspeed Mike, you'll be missed. A fine, fine man who leaves a lot of people better for having known him.
  8. Congrats to the Cru, getting back to the region is a win for this team on the come. Will be good experience for the freshmen whose best days are down the road.
  9. 7th Quarter-Final: St Joe's Cold Spring big over St Joe's Crescent Springs. They will play St Paul in tomorrow night's semi (2nd game in 5 days for those two).
  10. Saw this list today, wanted to share it. It is the Top 20 Projected RPI teams, plus everyone else with 5 or more Top 50 wins: * Virginia -- 9 * Villanova -- 10 * Xavier -- 8 * Duke -- 7 * UNC -- 8 * Kansas -- 10 * Cincinnati -- 5 * Auburn -- 6 * Rhode Island -- 3 * Purdue -- 6 * Clemson -- 6 * Wichita State -- 4 * Nevada -- 2 * Michigan State -- 3 * Texas Tech -- 8 * Tennessee -- 4 * Arizona -- 5 * Houston -- 5 * Kentucky -- 5 * Ohio State -- 3 * Texas A&M -- 7 * TCU -- 5 * Arkansas -- 6 * Seton Hall -- 6 * West Virginia -- 8 * Missouri -- 5 * Alabama -- 6 * Oklahoma -- 6 * Florida State -- 6 * Baylor -- 5 * Texas -- 6 * Florida -- 9 * NC State -- 5 * Georgia -- 5 * LSU -- 6 * SMU -- 5 * Oklahoma State -- 5
  11. Neither does what we have done thus far over the last many years.
  12. I was told St Augustine and Villa are from that league / division.
  13. Not to mention, the best player on the floor in every game they play. That helps too!!
  14. Tonight's schedule: * 7th Grade semi-final between Sts. Peter & Paul vs St. Mary * 8th Grade quarter-final between Blessed Sacrament vs St. Therese * 7th Grade quarter-final between St. Joe's Cold Spring vs St. Joe's Crescent Springs That first game should be outstanding. I expect lopsided outcomes in the final 2 games of the evening.
  15. Wow, sounds like a great game. LexCath ends their season earlier than I'm sure they had planned, and LCA will play in the 11th Region Tourney.
  16. Nice job Boyle!!! Glad to see young Mr. Alexander and his teammates moving on for at least two more games.
