  1. Okay @Cardsrule1972, here is a look at Walton-Verona and Collins as of February 13th: Collins 0-4 versus Top 20 opponents. Included in that is a 31 point loss to Ballard. W-V is 2-3 versus Top 20 opponents (which doesn't include a ROAD win at Campbell Co., who was ranked at the time of that game). Included in that is a 13 point loss to Ballard. They have played 7 common opponents: Collins is 4-3 with a total scoring margin of 29 points (4.14 per game). Walton-Verona is 6-2 with a a total scoring margin of 62 points (7.75 per game). Collins is 7-2 within the region, including a 3 point home loss to Oldham Co. W-V is 10-1 within the region, including a 2 point road loss to Oldham Co. You reference the football players missing when Collins dropped an 11 point game to Gallatin Co., but don't reference W-V has played nearly all of their season missing a HUGE piece of their puzzle. Even with that, they have two wins over Gallatin Co. by 20 and 4. This will all be sorted out on the court, as it should be, but you can't honestly look at these two resumes and say that Collins has had the better year, nor is the better team "on paper".
  2. Don't forget the Reds' Opening Day is that Thursday before, and the hoopla / parade is the Monday after. Would be bonkers!
  3. I, for one, would love a Xavier / UC re-match at the Final Four. Yes! :bunny:
  4. How soon you forget 2012 and the FOUR teams from Ohio that made the Sweet 16: Ohio State, Cincinnati, Xavier, and Ohio University. This is nothing new!
  5. Sorry, but there is nothing about Collins' resume (including their 1-4 mark in February) that tells me they are better than Walton Verona. What would you point to in order to support your point that Collins is better than they are? Luckily, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it will get settled (along with Oldham Co.) on the court in the 8th Region Tournament.
  6. As an aside, how about the week that Lexington Christian has scheduled for themselves to finish the regular season: at #10 Lafayette, at #11 Bryan Station, and at #2 Trinity. However, the game of the week has to be Friday night in Richmond, #3 CovCath traveling to take on #5, and white-hot, Madison Central. That should be a heck of a way to get yourself prepared for the post-season.
  7. When your best non-conference win is a neutral court win over MTSU, I'm still skeptical. That said, I think Auburn wins on the plains by 6-8 points.
  8. St Paul, after beating Pius in the Semis, beat St Henry by 16 in the Championship Game. Something to be said for a team gelling at the right time. They now play St Joe's Cold Spring tonight in the Peter & Paul tourney, then the other group of Pius kids in the SOAS Championship on Monday night.
  9. 6 of 7 from 3 and 5 assists? Just a crazy good night. He is a special, special player.
  10. Saw this article and thought it was worth sharing. While their top 10 should stimulate plenty of conversation, it was the rest of the article that I thought was worth sharing (Bates Diop has been AWESOME this year). Their list of "honorable mention" players have a lot of familiar names included within. Wooden Watch: Trevon Bluiett, Keita Bates-Diop move up behind Trae Young 1. Trae Young, Oklahoma 2. Marvin Bagley III, Duke 3. Trevon Bluiett, Xavier 4. Jalen Brunson, Villanova 5. Keita Bates-Diop, Ohio State 6. Miles Bridges, Michigan State 7. Deandre Ayton, Arizona 8. Shamorie Ponds, St. John's 9. Carsen Edwards, Purdue 10. Kyle Guy, Virginia
  11. I don't know, but neither does that ref. The player's back was to the ref (did you watch the clip?), and the ref who dinged him was at least 30 feet away. Not to mention, and I haven't seen this posted, but it was one of the quickest technicals I've ever seen assessed. There is no way that was for hanging on the rim, which he didn't do, but given where he was and the player's position, no other explanation would be plausible. A shame.
  12. I would take Trae over Lonzo in college by a LOT, and in the Pros by a narrower margin. Both of them have many issues they need to improve on, and Lonzo's size is an advantage for him to be sure, but give me the MUCH BETTER offensive player, who I also believe has a higher basketball IQ and a much better motor. Who they are playing with makes a major difference to be sure, but in a vacuum, give me Trae Young and I will take my chances.
  13. Aggies by about 7, if you made me throw out a number. 78-71, or thereabouts.
  14. Shocking outcome, to me. Not shocked that Rankin did work, but shocked at the final score. Congrats to Nolan on a nice night.
  15. Two starters out. Still should have won that game.
  16. I'll try, the teams I'm close to aren't in it.
  17. I'll take two teams, just give me ones that go unclaimed.
  18. Wrap your head around this: It's also the first team in the AP poll era to win back-to-back games, both against top-five teams, immediately after a losing streak of 10 or more games.
