  1. I've tried and enjoyed many on the list above (although Frisch's sandwich being made with 2 separate pieces of fish annoys me), but I'll be the one to say it: I'm still a sucker for two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches from McDonald's for $4.
  2. Updating this list, here are the teams that qualify as of right now -- and again, 19 of the last 20 years this had held to form (which is crazy, when you think about it): * Villanova * Duke * Purdue * Michigan State * Gonzaga * Ohio State Just missing, and likely could end up included: * Virginia * Michigan * Auburn Will be interesting to keep an eye on.
  3. John Gasaway of ESPN lists his 8 teams that can win a national title, and his list had the winner on it the last two years, for what little it is worth. He thinks the winner will be from a group that includes: Arizona Duke Gonzaga Michigan State North Carolina Purdue Villanova Virginia Interesting read, especially on the reasoning behind many of the potentially high seeds he left off his list. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/22637894/the-343-teams-not-win-national-championship
  4. This all comes down to shares of the NCAA kitty, and that comes down to how many Tournament games your league gets in the big event. Conference commissioners have tackled this issue countless times, and always come back to this -- we (meaning them) want the team playing the best in March to go to the dance on our behalf. Period. You have countless situations with injuries, suspensions, and the like where a team in March isn't who they were in January, both positive and negative. The Horizon's best chance to steal a 2nd game is that the team playing their best right now goes to the Tourney. All of the one-bid leagues have considered the old Ivy scenario of sending the regular season champion, and all have passed on that. Some one-bid leagues, like the Big South, have the 1-seed host the tourney, which is their way of doing what some of you want (reward the season-long champ), but still, upsets can and do occur. For bigger one-bid leagues, that feels very bush-league and most University Presidents won't consider that. Attendance at most one-bid league Conference Tourneys (especially the early rounds) is typically awful, but the money derived from sponsorships make it a net-positive solution for the leagues. Getting shares is why every conference coaches' meeting in America is so heavily-focused on how to get more bids -- it is a huge difference to a league to get more teams in, which therefore gives you the potential for even more shares.
  5. Wow, Beechwood 7th and 8th are full of players, good be a good run coming up for the Tigers.
  6. Is this game tonight? Any BASKETBALL related thoughts on this game? Corbin has to be the favorite at home, right?
  7. I think HC gets it done, and by the 4th quarter these boys should get to play in front of the biggest crowd of their lives -- really happy for these boys. Indians by 6-8.
  8. Were you as passionate about Neon's not admitting anyone under the age of 25 back in the 90's? In broader terms, if a bar says we won't admit anyone under the age of 30 for whatever reason the owner feels like using, do you have an issue with that?
  9. I've been riding with MC for a while, so I'll stick with them in a GREAT game at EKU.
  10. The way you constructed that first post was absolutely written in a "I know more than you (plural) way". i.e. "To compare it to other KY schools that you all would understand" Secondly, I'm not the least bit defensive, I'm trying to help you realize that painting with a broad brush when you have zero understanding of your audience and their background is a slippery slope. If MTSU is a 6-seed or better in 9 days I'll be the first to say I was (way) wrong.
  11. I'm right around this. I think this will be one of the better games of the weekend around the state, if not for the quality of the play, certainly so for the intensity of it and the setting.
  12. For the record: 1. No they aren't. The proof of which will be the committee, armed with more information that you could possibly imagine, will seed them between 9-12 (36 and 48 on the "S-curve"). 2. I could care less what conference a team is in. When you have 351 teams, the only accurate way to rank them is a collection of acceptable metrics which give weight to teams based on their conference only when looking at the depth of their schedule. Your insulting take that people (in this case, I) have some sort of bias that clouds our ability to see a team at a level with which you see them is comically off-base. Is it their fault that Vandy was down this year? Nope. When your resume lacks a single marquee win, "legit Top 25" is a difficult pedestal to crawl upon.
