  1. The witch-hunt for Coach Wyking Jones (affectionately known as "Wike") will begin in earnest -- fairly or unfairly, he is going to be the target.
  2. Too many faults, very nice team, but not win 6 (or even 4) games in March nice. Xavier, West Virginia, Iowa, Miami, Oregon -- all really good teams, but not nylon-necklace good.
  3. I don't think it is nearly as wide open as everyone else does, in fact, I'd bet a fair amount the National Champion is one of the 5 teams listed above.
  4. Big Games this week: Monday: UL at Duke, Texas at Oklahoma Tuesday: Michigan State at Purdue, Xavier at Creighton, West Virginia at Kansas Wednesday: LSU at South Carolina, Providence at Marquette, Texas A&M at Alabama, Baylor at Kansas State Thursday: Iowa at Indiana, Oregon at Cal Friday: UCLA at Arizona Saturday: UK at South Carolina, Xavier at Butler, Georgetown at Providence, Texas A&M at LSU, Kansas at Oklahoma, UL at Notre Dame Sunday: Indiana at Michigan State, Miami at Florida State Enjoy the week!
  5. As of Monday, February 8th: 1. Villanova (58 points) 2. Oklahoma (54) 3. Iowa (49) 4. Virginia (48) 5. North Carolina (47) 6. Maryland (45) 7. West Virginia (37) 8. Michigan State (34) 9. Oregon (30) 10. Kansas (30) 11. Louisville (29) 12. Miami (FL) (25) 13. Xavier (24) 14. SMU (21) 15. Iowa State (21) 16. Arizona (16) 17. Duke (15) 18. Purdue (11) 19. Dayton (9) 20. Texas A&M (9) USC, Wichita State, Utah, Kentucky, and Texas would have been the next five. I will list the big games for this week this afternoon.
  6. NOBODY wants to play a healthy Wichita State team in March. Those guys have a ton of tourney experience.
  7. I wouldn't have Newport behind Dixie and Conner, but in general, I agree with you.
  8. Shout-out to Mark, he is a trooper and CovCath is lucky to have him. I heard his eulogy today was incredibly well done. You're a good man Mark, a very good man. #WithaSpirit
  9. FutureCoach, we will revisit your guy when his metamorphosis into Jerome Simpson is fully complete. I do appreciate the tutorial on looking deeper though, thanks.
  10. This dude has been in the league for 4 years, has 134 catches for 1,729 yards, has never caught more than 65 catches in a season, nor has ever had more than 816 yards in a season...and wants to break the bank? Have at it kid. Good luck doing your thing when a WR the caliber of #18 isn't on the other side. I don't blame he nor his agent for wanting "to have fun with the process", but I also hope the Bengals tell him once he passes on their final offer to enjoy the process, their offer is off the table.
  11. Exceptionally happy for all of the young men, but doubly so for Kyler (a true three sport stud) and Cameron Pitzer, who has had a very rough couple of years and deserves all of the positive accolades that have and will come his way. To all 5 nominees, a HUGE honor...CONGRATS!!!
  12. TAC, come on, the league is 100x better today than it was in the 70's. Bigger, stronger, faster, more complex, more skilled....not even debatable.
  13. Teams that score 40+ in the playoffs in the NFL are dreadful the following game, just food for thought. I think we throw around "best ever" and "greatest ever" way too often, but it would be hard not to put this Panther team on a very short list of the best single-season teams the NFL has seen. How could you not? Solid defense, #1 scoring offense, MVP behind center, only 1 loss in regular season and post-season? They'd be on the very short list of best seasons ever, for sure.
  14. Carson Williams being #1 in his class is INCREDIBLY impressive. Kudos to that young man.
  15. Yes, in short, the homerism in threads like this drives me a little crazy. @afi100guy
  16. Not sure if you're being serious, but yes, they'll be in the Tournament. Very likely will be seeded ahead of UK if everything holds serve as expected.
  17. Outstanding defensive team. Rebound well considering they aren't all that big, in fact they spend a fair amount of time with three small (under 6'4") guys on the court at once. DFS is really good, and they have a true big who is okay, but for the most part, they play hard and fast. They play a lot of dudes, so UK's lack of quality depth could be a factor. In short, I think Florida has been under-valued all year, and I think they'll definitely win the rematch in March in Gainesville, but I expect the bounce from the UT loss, combined with being at home, is enough to secure a narrow and hard fought win for UK.
