I happened to stop by the Ryle/Cru game. First year in 6 that my daughter was not a member of the Cru which was not easy to see in person.:depressed: St Henry's pitcher was on the shelf for a mild injury, no big deal. Some of the younger Cru looked like they made some nice improvement from last year. Ryles pitching looked improved as well. I think they are well coached by a guy I don't know, but like a lot. He gets it. It nice to see that. Just a really nice day to watch a game. Just like all early spring games are.

I hear they used LawboyAway, and now we know the culprit!

I thought it was great. Sometimes you get lopsided at certain positions and I guess depending on the year, pitching could be lopsided, but its an all-star game, not the 9th region championship---its all fun.

I think Peyton Fields did at first, I really don't remember. Molly did not start wearing one but did after first or second inning and not sure why. Not even sure it was her mask. She always wore one at third, but not at first. I think third first and pitcher are a must in softball.

My daughter had a blast. She played against a lot of these girls for years, but got to know them a little last nite. Thanks for all the hard work, Kevin, LB and all involved.

Couple of small things that stood out to me. I thought the Ladanyi RBI groundout 4-3 in the 7th was huge at the time and it was the difference. Just putting the ball on the ground to the right side at that time was big. Thought the play would have been to the plate but not sure infield was in at the time. Then in the bottom with runners at second and third a bouncer was hit to right of third base. The third base player had to go to her left and extend and then stop her momentum to turn and make the throw. Its a play that should be made but it is not always made. At that moment, with pressure high, it was made. Those two small things could have turned this game had they not occurred the way they did. Of course, there are many others too in a close game, but those stood out to me at the time.

Last year I thought ND would win and Highlands did. This year I think Highlands will, so congrats NDA.

Four Regional Title games, I think. but yeah, thought she would have got one.

Haven't seen Ryle so I can't comment on that part but I would say you have the general consensus. Anyone of the first two groups can and/or have beat each other.

I agree that if the fence is at 200-210, there shouldn't be many inside the park homers unless someone is out of position.

It was an exciting game with a lot of big plays. Started out with a bang as Mary Beth Odom hit one off the scoreboard after being down in the count 0-2, I think. Dixie scored another and took a 2-0 lead but St. Henry answered in the bottom of the 1st with two, two out RBI hits by Stewart and Dietz to tie the score. Both teams had a few chances with big innings that just didn't materialize and each had a runner thrown out at home on bang, bang plays that were very close. For the record I was fairly near home and thought the umpire got BOTH calls right. Dixie went up 3-2 with one run in the 4th or 5th and St. Henry answered right back in the bottom of that inning. 3-3 in bottom of 6 when St. Henry got first two on. Two outs later it looked like it might have been for naught but Theresa Urban hammered one to deep center for a two out, two run double, which provided the winning margin. Game had a lot of exciting plays. Not exactly a Lawnboy write up but hey, that's as good as I can do.

Walks, errors and baserunning mistakes will cost a team a title or conversely a team that avoids same, will win a title. Rarely in a Championship game does one team dominate the other from an offensive standpoint, but we shall see.

The order will be determined by June 1 fairly well.

Thought the young lady showed a lot of poise and pitched a good game. Cru seemed like the intensity of the prior game was not there. A lot of balls that weren't necessarily errors but plays that should have been made but weren't, were costly. Its like it all went downhill after lineups were introduced. (What an introduction--that guy was a hoot!)
