  1. Dixie will be there. They are better than they have played. Walton Verona is way too low.
  2. If you are looking for a landing spot for Spencer, Graybill, Quillen and Coffee, let me know.
  3. Glad to hear the school supports the parents in upgrading the facilities.
  4. Rule number one. Never count your chickens. I forget rule number two.
  5. The highlight of the day was clearly the young ladies throwing out the first pitch. Ms. Deis, Smith and Meager (sorry about the spelling) made the day worth while.
  6. sounds like a good one between two good teams. I thought it would be a little lower scoring with those two on the mound. any details?
  7. Back to softball, Congrats to Jen Brauer. She was well liked at the Henry.
  8. As long as the new coach doesn't belittle a team that just beat them, out loud, in public, in front of the team that just beat them, then I have no beef with em.
  9. Somehow or another, I would have to think Bailey Spencer belongs in the top 50. If she is not, then the region is a heck of a lot stronger than I thought.
  10. Injuries are not ever a good excuse but their top two pitchers have been out, which explains to some degree the run ruled games. Out of 17 innings, 12 have been pitched by their third pitcher who has really never thrown before. She is a great player and has done a good job considering. They have faced Spencer, Simms and Thacker in the three games and have hit pretty well. I think better things will be on the horizon if/once health is regained.
  11. I graduated HS in 1980 and saw plenty of Beal. While he pushed his jumpshot from his waist, he created space to shoot it by his ultraquick first and second step and he would jumpfade back to create room for his shot. He was very effective at it at the high school level. Deadly. Didn't see him do it in college as Joe B probably figured it wouldn't be that effective. DePaul was probably a better fit as they played a much more uptempo game. JoeB bulked Beal up and I don't think he had quite the same explosive quickness as a result although its hard to tell because his competition level was much higher obviously than HS. Would like to have seen him run and gun at DePaul. From foul line to foul line, I never saw anyone bring the ball up court that quickly. I remember a district tournament game that I walked in at near half and Holy Cross was beating Holmes by a significant margin. I think it was Beal's sophomore year. He came into the game and with a full court press, he and Davis stole the ball before HC could get it past half-court.. I recall HC having major difficulties getting the ball past half court and Holmes won. They would not have made the regional tourney, must less state final game that year, without that comeback. He was something.
  12. "Looks like it could be a long year for the Cru.... " I think it will be a long beginning of the year for sure. However, when a couple of girls come back and get some playing time they might surprise some. They had 10 hits against a good pitcher in the first four innings with three good bats not playing. Improved baserunning and defense will make a big difference. Time is on their side.
  13. I really don't care who won or how they do, I thought the post I was responding to was weak and an appropriate response.
  14. I guess Clay County is who CovCath drew. Remind me, who did Holmes draw?
  15. Is she Catholic, or would she like to be? Is red her favorite color, by chance?
  16. Sounds to me like some girls could get some playing time if they transferred to a nice northern Kentucky Catholic school, especially if they seem a little trapped there and need some freedom.
  17. Congrats on Crubatboy devouring 30 wings at Quaker Steak n Lube at the coaches challenge. They were steroid wings too. Huge. Don't know if the rumors are true that he stopped off at White Castle on the way home for a crate to tide him over till morning!
  18. Gold Star? Dixie and you might have something.
  19. Rich? After tuition, sports fees, etc, etc, I barely have enough left to eat. Its why Im on a diet. Lettuce and lettuce gets old.
  20. I think Im still here. Its offseason.
  21. No, its not officially the dead period until they quit serving beer. That's the line in the sand.
