NewCath's freshmen Haley Meyers goes the distance and 2-hits the Pioneers.

 

NewCath 2nd - Morgan Martini doubles to the alley in left-center and scores on Sarah Neace's single to right.

 

NewCath 3rd - With two-out, Loren Zimmerman singles to left-field, steals 2nd and scores on Martini's single to left.

 

NewCath 5th - The Breds plate 2 more on 3 Pioneer errors.

 

Simon Kenton 7th - Meyers gets a GO6-3, but walks the next batter who steals 2nd. A GO5-3 results in the 2nd out of the inning, but Kristen Hartman singles on the line in right-field that just does draw chalk to score the runner, however she is gunned down trying to advance to 2nd to end the game.

 

Simon Kenton's only other hit was a 2-out 3rd inning bunt that just does stay fair off the bat of 5th grader, Macy Krohman (the young lady is going to be a player).

 

Both teams are now 3-1 and return to action tomorrow night at Softball City in the Uncle Pete Noll Tourney.

 

However the best part of the night belongs to the 10 Simon Kenton football players that cheered on the softball team. You had to see it to believe it, but they were downright hilarious. :notworthy: The best part was the "ribbing" they gave some of the NewCath girls, particularly Morgan Martini and Taylor Burkart. They kept asking Morgan, "hey Morgan we're going to Gold Star Chili after the game, will join us". and Taylor was asked to the Prom by a few young men. After the game when Taylor and Morgan were leaving, these guys asked for phone numbers and autographs, and one even took pictures with his phone. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

 

Before the JV game started I went over and told them that they were very entertaining and did a great job. When they found out I was Taylor's dad the one boy said, "I was one who kept asking her to go to Prom, but I guess she doesn't like red-heads". If he only knew who her boyfriend is. :lol::lol:

Lawnboy---there are no limits on proms. If SK's is on a different day than NCC's, why not? Just think, different school, different people, so nobody would notice if the girls are wearing the same prom dress to different proms, right? No harm no foul.

You don't know how much drama Proms cause for softball players. Seems like every year they conflict with softball and some coaches are not real happy that players miss for prom. I may be the biggest blow hard softball guy in the area but I say let the girls go coaches!!

Those guys were cracking me up all night, I wish more teams could have this kind of support. When it comes to peer support, softball gets absolutely ZERO.

I found out this week that this is apparently not true…however, if Lawnboy wants to set up a "dress swap" I'm sure we could work something out !
