2015 Newport Central Catholic Awards Banquet

Recommended Posts

Tonight the NewCath softball program had their annual Awards Banquet and Dinner. Big "tip of the cap" to Head Coach Denny Barnes for getting things together, including Pompilio's for dinner. :ylsuper:

The awards portion of the evening started with Freshmen Head Coach, Dan Hausfeld, speaking about his 24-0 frosh team, and how if these young ladies continue to improve over the next few years how they will have one hell of a varsity career. Quite a few of these young ladies WILL be varsity starters next year.

On the JV side of things, I was happy to present JV letters to 7 of the 8th graders who also played on the frosh team, these girls were all JV starters as well....Jenna Fryer, Katie Kelly, Kara Zimmerman, Kacy Zimmerman, Bailey Gray, Riley McDermott, & Mackenzie Jones..

Coach Barnes talked about the varsity season, especially how fortunate the program was to have 5 seniors who had such wonderful 4 year varsity careers (4 of which were 4 year varsity starters) and presented awards to Morgan Martini, Loren Zimmerman, Casey Kohls, Kristen Schreiber, Michaela Ware, & Haley Meyers.

Also presented were ball cubes to:

Alex Burkart - 1st career homerun (Grandslam)

Lexi Potts - 1st career homerun (Grandslam)

Kennedy Bin - 1st career homerun

Haley Meyers No-Hitter balls.....can't get this years to load for some reason, but they look like this (last year's 5 no-hitter balls)

The homerun & varsity win balls were in cases like these also.

That explains where you've been the last 2 months...

Compiling stats from your paper book...

Had all these stats ready for print one day after the final game of the season, I don't fool around when it comes to the numbers......I'm a stats junkie.

I would have to say that this may be the last awards night for the 2015 season:laugh:

Also, looks like the off season training program paid off for the Lady Breds, that is a lot of HR's for the season. How many total did each player have and what was the team total? Very impressive!!!

NOPE... Coach Coffey wanted to beat NewCath in this category too... (Since he can't in the All A)

HHS awards night is this Weds.

Fortunately the lone senior is going to Thomas More!

This season the Breds hit 15 total, and yes, that is a lot for a NewCath team. 7 different players "touched em all", breaking the 2013 total of 11. Take 2015 & 2013 out of the mix, and since the fastpitch program started in 2007 all other years combined their have only been 13 hit.

Just curious, how many of these HRs were over the fence?
