  1. is nku just the pitching academy...can't find any info? Looking for some hitting camps. Hate to mess her pitching up since she's working with someone new, and re-learning some mechanics, don't want to throw anything else at her pitching wise:)
  2. On the school side right across from the concessions, worse view is actually from the concessions! LOL Because of the angle I suppose. flag pole going up at midfield. They are just getting ready to pour the piers for it...you may see some stakes there now:)
  3. Weekly pitching lessons and time spent in the cages has me itching to start watching some softball:) What winter camps are your girls attending in the coming months?
  4. my hubby (who is doing all the stake out work since the beginning) just laid out the new scoreboard...one more piece to the puzzle:) It is coming along nicely, but I don't think the building will be on schedule..too much work left to do in one month:)
  5. The name of the road is Grandview:) The park is about one mile down on your left...small sign on your right. If you continue to follow Grandview, you will end up on the AA hwy:) Nice park with a playground and a great walking path around a small lake for fishing.
  6. I don't know, but I can tell you I'LL be wrapped up and in blanket:) LOL Is that the only trick with a composite...just keep it warm somehow? I guess that's what the stupid sleeves are for, huh?:ohbrother:
  7. Congrats to Brossart! I always thought that field was under-ulitilized (if thats a word!) for that nice little park:) How will this effect the Annual JV tourny?
  8. YEs, I asked about both, because out here in the county, our early season games (all meaningful games:) LOL) the evenings usually dip into the 40s. So for half the season you just use an old bat? Seems strange to me, that's why I'm asking:) Hanna pitched in many JV march/april games last season where we froze, literally. Maybe this spring will be warmer than last, just wanted to get her a cold weather bat...all she has is composite right now:(
  9. arent those both composite bats? im curious what everyone is using and liking for those super cold night?
  10. What are your favorite (and legal) 1. composite bats 2. non composite bats for those 40 degree march games:irked: Be specific:D
  11. My daughter, of course! LOL Just kidding. She has been working hard in the off season (besides getting hurt) and we have high hopes for her and the Camels this season! Can't wait to get the season started:) We are excited to attend our first Kent State camp in a few months...wish we had the time to attend more.
  12. wondered when this subject would rear its head again:)
  13. actually watched quite a bit of the series, Bama won:) I didn't see or remember seeing a pitcher use this style. I'll have to do some youtube research:)What is the point of concealing the ball if you don't throw with enough velocity to deliver a rise or a drop? Again, just thinking out loud, no bashing:) We are trying to get back in the groove of training after DD tore ligaments in a pickleball accident:) LOL She's still in a boot, going on week three:(
  14. I'm not trying to stir the pitching pot, so to speak, but I am curious about one thing...Brossarts two main pitchers, JV and V, both seem to pitch outside the norm of leap and drag style, with much slower speeds. I do not for the life of me understand, after watching several games, how in the world they manage to get strikeouts? Why can't some teams (including my daughters) adjust to the slower speeds and knock the cover off that ball? I'm not dissin' these pitchers at all, but do ANY college pitchers practice this style, or do you only see it in nky where coach z teaches it? It seems to me to be just a faster version of slow pitch....just honestly curious and baffled by the style:)
  15. OMG...just when i thought I'd heard the last of that ridiculousness....:/
  16. I, for one, am HIGHLY offended that there are no CC girls on this team! Can we at least be bat girls??? LOL Being sarcastic, of course:)
  17. So xplosion is still together? I heard rumors of disbandment, but got on the website and all looked good. Do you have a contact email for them? I've tried two different ones and got no response...either its the wrong info or they are not interested:) LOL
  18. Took two high school girls out to softball city to watch some ball...I got in big trouble because the little girls were playing...I couldn't find a schedule anywhere:( Are there any nky/cincy tournaments this summer where we can watch 15U or 16U games? I'm guessing my kid will be 16U due to her 16th bday being 11/20/96? Also, is there a listing somewhere of travel ball teams in our area? I've found doom, stealers, static, slammers, xplosion, and bandits...are there anymore...i notice some don't have multiple age groups?
  19. I think she's leaning towards playing at a smaller ky college. Looks like we will need to get into travel ball, I'd just like to find something halfway local:) is it correct that most of these teams have tryouts in early fall? Guess we will start the hunt;)
  20. I will be interested to see how it plays out...I think it can really hurt a team when a game is delayed...it just really throws off the momentum...
  21. :scared: Ok. So i'm new at all this and would like to learn about AAU and travel ball. We have been in AAU basketball...wasn't really impressed with our particular league, but did like the extra practice and playing time. We have a sophmore pitcher (now) that just finished her third year of HS ball. Last year she was out due to injury most of the season. She has decided to pare it down to one sport now...softball. What are the pros and cons? What realistic chance does she have of making a team as a pitcher and how do you find out about teams/tryouts? Are you better off just taking private lessons in the off season? Lots of questions.....
  22. Maybe it just seened like endless errors after the two out inning where i thought hanna was gonna get her first career shutout....haha! Ah well...cant wait til next year...i miss it already. Will be there tomorrow for a good game though:)
  23. Awesome! Thanks for the link...it's nice to see a great game get coverage somewhere!
  24. Help me out here...ya know I'm new to this stat stuff... would I read this as we had 11 runs 14 hits 4 errors 9 left on base? I can think of four errors in one inning??? I need to learn how to keep book so I know what all this means:)
  25. I agree, and all I will say is....if everyone was agreement, she should play where she wants. If your HS team is dependent on ONE sole player, then you aren't going to be very competitive anyhow. I'm sure the last thing she wanted was to get hurt and have to go through surgery with EITHER team, but the loss of this particular team wasn't because of pitching or lack of pitching...it was defensive errors. I don't know if any of Mason's 12 runs were earned or unearned...but there were countless errors...missed fly balls, overthrows, etc. This team played the best defense I've seen them play all year for the first four innings...then it just fell apart. I agree, AAU seems to be the only way to get your kid the year round instruction they need to improve, plus the extra playing experience. Heck, we only played 24 HS games...with summer rec league, my kid MIGHT play 30 games this year...it's just not enough to keep ahead of the competition...
