Just watched that game. Highlands was in that game all the way til halftime. They could of easily scored right before half to make a One score game. 2nd half? Lookout, buzz saw. Proud of the Young Bluebirds for fighting.

I heard some 2nd hand grumbling from some Bird fan friends about the play calling in the possession just before halftime. At that point, Covington Catholic only had one timeout left, but instead of running the ball with under 2 minutes until halftime, the calls were made for 3 straight passes, which all fell incomplete while taking very little time off the clock. The ball went back to Covington Catholic with plenty of time to get a score before half. Not sure, but I think only a missed field goal kept the Colonels from scoring to end the half. Called RB Screen on 1st down was definitely the right call with CCH playing downhill and Highlands backs were up against the wall. Complete that PASS and its halftime with no Chance for CCH. I like the call. HHS will complete that 9 out of 10 times anyday of the week. Just so happens that 1 time they didn’t. Maybe 2nd & 3rd could of been different but that's why Coach Mick Abner is calling the Plays and not me. Other than that 1 series, Mick pretty much called a perfect game. The score reflects that.

If they go 2-8, Mike Engler’s contract won’t be renewed. Some have said this is the best run of talent Ryle has had in quite some tome. The time is now for Ryle.

Did I hear correctly that on Highlands 1st drive tonight, that they used Six different RB’s? What in the world. Six? Heard they march it right down the field for a score. That’s impressive.

I just heard long time Highlands Coach Jeremy Baioni has stepped down from Head Coach. Hearing other opportunities have opened up on a personal and business level for him. Good luck Coach Baioni, you will be missed.

Everyone in the Tri-State and around Kentucky are snoozing on Adam Surrey. I have seen this kid play on several occasions. I would venture to say you could count on One hand, the Kids around these parts that can stay is front of him. It’s not many. Kid is going to be a serious problem this year for opponents.

Hearing that this will be the last year Raceland and Highlands will play. The series will not be renewed.

I believe the Field is located in the Flood Plain and therefore when Buildings/Structures are torn down they are no longer Grandfathered in from what I was told. So with that, they are unable to get Bathroom's/Concessions approved through planning and Zoning. Someone dropped the Ball here. I am hearing they're moving the Stadium over closer to the School and elevating it with the Stands built into the Hillside that holds the School up. Federal Money at it's best. But what a waste of time and money putting up New Stands and replacing Turf knowing all good and well that it all lies within the River's wrath.

Me too. He was literally Knocked out during the Highlands game last year and came back the next series like nothing happened. A warrior! LexCath seems like they will have a very nice team in 2024. I will have to make sure I am there in Ft Thomas when they Visit in August.

Is it true that Newport isn't going to fill the A.D. position per se? That's what I heard. Thought I saw where it was posted for the opening. Hearing since there isn't much of an Athletic Dept to manage then what's the point. Maybe that has something to do with it as well. Who's in Charge? Maybe Coach Hahn couldn't trust the District when it comes to hard decisions. Again with no A.D., who's in Charge? I really think the priorities in Wildcat land are way out of whack right now. Just one persons opinion. I personally like the idea of Paul Wiggins. However I also think he would be crazy to take that Job with the current Admin commitment that isn't focused in all Sports down at Newport. While one flourishes all others suffer. Is the Baseball Coach next?

I believe that's correct. But I did hear the incoming players will be even better than Covington and Jackson so I agree that next year with their replacements they will be again sitting in Lexington. Now will they win in Lexington? That's the million dollar question.

I have never been there but certainly looks like a very nice complex at Oldham Co. Big road Win for the Birds.

Is OC down? I did hear that this is the 1st time the Birds have beat them. What a great start to the season. Can the Birds 3-peat this year? They still have some really good talent in the pipeline. Coach Horner and Staff just seem to reload each year.

I watched some of his 2023 Highlights and wow he mauls people. 6'-4" 300 plus pounds and can move like that as a Sophomore is frightening. If he can get a little quicker then Sky is the Limit for him. He is just getting started with his recruiting. Good stuff.

His April list is impressive. I have a feeling he comes away with an Offer from one of those if not Two schools. Prediction. Clemson and Ga Tech. Hopefully more but that's just my guess. I think he is Clemson good but not UGA good. Not yet at least.

Won't be an easy one for Highlands. I wasn't there for the first matchup but I remember hearing Newport Catholic being up double digits to start the 4th. Colopy was on Fire for the first matchup. It only takes one kid or two to get hot and it gets very interesting. Newport Catholic will be playing loose for sure. Highlands better be able to get shots to go down early and often. I still think the Birds pull this one out but wouldn't be surprised with a Newport Catholic win. It's been that kind of season for Highlands. Who shows up when the Lights come on?

I don't think Ike still plays. He may help out with the Team but with some lingering Injuries, it was in his best interest not to continue to play Football.

It's nice to have that many Studs.

A lot of Studs. Great to know they have that much Depth. Still think it may be a really big drop off if stud O'hara were to go down.

Should be another really nice run in Ft Mitchell this year. The train keeps rolling.
