I don't think he will be at Highlands. I think it's more of a "What's best for the Family" rather than what is best for the Kid. Academics? I don't think that's the main reason but maybe a small portion of it. His Dad will be his position Coach wherever he lands. Mark it down. My feeling is it will be somewhere across the River in Ohio. Why not Holmes? The Nevels family have strong ties there too.

And you should be excited. Not the same program from a Size standpoint. Highlands has some Dudes walking around Campus these days. QB1 will be the biggest question. A lot of options right now. Who will step up and run with this system? Some kids are way ahead of others on both sides of the ball now that Spring football has come and gone.

That will be the most noticeable thing that pops out this year for Highlands. They didn't mess around in the Weight room. Getting excited to see this group come August.

Don't forget upcoming Soph Aiden Howard on the DL. The kid put a solid 30lbs this past off season. Wow! I think he is around 6"-2" 260ish right now. That is some off season work right there.

Impossible to keep everyone happy. I'm hearing the disgruntled parent is the same Dude that hired a Title IX Lawyer because he felt his Daughter and may others were being cheated in facilities some years back. There is always one in every town. Can't wait til everyone can move on from this Clown.

Does Boyle Co allow Student Athletes time for Strength training during School hours? You know almost like a School Class but lifting weights?

Won't be at Highlands. The FTJFL pays big money to have access to that Facility from 12 p.m.-Close on Saturdays in season. Friday nights are a possibility when Highlands in on the road but Locker room logistics would be a factor as well.

What are some schools off season workouts specifically Spring Football? Do schools lift in the morning before school and then practice after school? Do they have have Classroom work? What is too much? What is not enough? Let me hear some timelines on what Schools around the State of Ky follow daily in their routines.

Zero. He does not work with the Football or Basketball teams specifically. Now if a Football player is on the Wrestling team or another School sport, then he may get some training from the New strength guy. But as far as him leading any training within the Football program he is not.

Yep. The Tug a War rope AKA the Weight program has been donated to the Local Marina to anchor their Head Boat. All kidding aside. Highlands is really taking the Off Season training more serious and that's the difference. When the New staff arrived they did a actual Test to see if most of the program could perform a certain lift. 90% of the program failed. That is in the past. New beginnings. Right wrong or indifferent, every Coach has their own way of doing things. Coach Sphire is working the Kids in ways they have never been taught. Maybe the previous Staff worked the Kids hard and that's great but Sphire is doing it different. It's a Love/Hate for some but most realize it's what was needed to change. Time to move on from the past.

Looked promising as a Soph. Maybe he can help on the other side of the Ball where they are depleted with Baseball guys not coming back. He normally plays LB. At least that's what I heard he played younger.

What the heck happened to Hosea? Sr coming in this year and was the starter as a Soph in a Win against Ryle. I remember him battling some Injuries shortly after that. What happened to him his Jr year? He was totally missing from the Offense last year. Injured? They could of used him in desperate way last year.

I heard that James was the strongest kid in the program last year from 9-12. I don't know if that was good or bad. Good for Devon but maybe bad for the overall program.

Don't forget Soph's Surrey,James and Arnold. At 6'-3" Arnold can really stretch the Field. Surrey makes the width of the Field seem wider than it is at a slot and James is starting to find his Legs at RB. Hold on Birds fans.

Maybe 64. But if you ask him, he will tell you he feels like he's 34 now that he's at Highlands. The man is a machine. No one questions Nick Saban's age. I think he's close to 70.

Bob Sphire was indeed the #1 call. That is a fact. But Highlands was nowhere near what it would take to bring him to Ft Thomas from Southern Ga and discussions quickly stalled. After the James debacle and then an Intense Month of Negotiations with Chris Wolfe(Also a fact) Highlands was able to come very close to what Bob Sphire initially needed to come. Thanks Chris Wolfe! Once they got to that number, it was a no brainer for Sphire to come back to his home State to Coach. Days went by and at one point everyone thought Highlands was going to name Bert Bathiany as the next Head Coach, but administrators worked their Butts off to get Sphire to Ft Thomas instead. Bathiany had no Head Coaching Experience and that held water with the prior Principle Matt Bertasso who was making the Hire and is now in Southern Ga working. There was a lot of other Steamy stuff that went on during the Negotiations with Wolfe. Meaning other Applicants calling Bertasso and basically begging him for the Job. Depends who you ask but Highlands go their man. He doesn't make promises and holds each kid accountable. No more playing Kids just because of their Seniority in the program. He is going to play the better player. Period.

Congrats Coach Bert. This is a much better job than Camp Co. Your hard work is paying off. Now go be great.

It's a great hire. Until Muzzle loader season starts. Lets see how he adapts to that. That was one of Lickert's biggest obstacles when he was there. You are not going to change the culture. Camp Co had one of the if not the best talented classes a few years back with the Jolly twins. A successful run? Sure, but will that be good enough for Brian Weinrich? Probably. Congrats to him. Someone is inheriting a Nightmare in Newport on the other hand.
