Campbell County hires Brian Weinrich as head football coach.

Featured Replies

After a brief layover at Beechwood and a one-season stay in Newport as head coach of the Wildcats, Brian Weinrich is now head football coach at Campbell County High School.

I think this is a good hire for Campbell County.

Congrats Coach Weinrich!

Congrats BW!  I think this is a win/win for BW and CCHS football program.

Now it will be interesting who might join him on his staff....

Glad I didn’t have to hold that in too much longer.

Looking at their roster it looks like the team this past season, the Seniors were the minority in #s.

15 - Seniors

22- Juniors

23 - Soph

Starting QB was a Soph, back up with a Jr based on some Stat on KHSAA Scoreboard.  The RB was a Sr and graduating.

Great that he isn't going to hopefully have a #s issue at CCHS, seems like he might have walked in at the right time to maybe make things happen.

It's a great hire. Until Muzzle loader season starts. Lets see how he adapts to that. That was one of Lickert's biggest obstacles when he was there. You are not going to change the culture. Camp Co had one of the if not the best talented classes a few years back with the Jolly twins. A successful run? Sure, but will that be good enough for Brian Weinrich? Probably. Congrats to him. Someone is inheriting a Nightmare in Newport on the other hand.

It was a good hire for Highlands in 2014, Beechwood and then Newport.

This is what I’m curious to see as well. HHS could be losing a mainstay for the last 25+ years with this hire.

Anyone have CCHS’s schedule for next year?

For most teams in the state, this is the second year of the contract cycle, so it's fairly likely that we'll see a duplicate (or near duplicate) of the 2021 schedule with the locations flip-flopped.

Here's Campbell County's 2021 schedule:

Aug 20 vs. Newport Central Catholic (W) 21-0
Aug 27 vs. Woodford County (L) 34-13
Sep 3 at Highlands (L) 42-7
Sep 10 at Cooper (L) 34-0
Sep 17 at Conner (L) 38-7
Sep 24 at George Rogers Clark (L) 27-14
Oct 1 - BYE
Oct 8 vs. Ryle* (L) 44-11
Oct 15 at Simon Kenton* (L) 41-24
Oct 22 vs. Dixie Heights* (L) 40-10
Oct 29 vs. Corbin (L) 35-7

Who on the Camels staff is likely to stay on board with Coach Weinrich?

I could have missed something, but why would it be a nightmare at Newport?

Alot of good football players coming up. He will have Dowds a Sophomore at 6'1 205 he can run the ball pretty good and is a load to take down.

Glad for the Coach Weinrich and the Camels. Sophomore class and Freshman class have some quality players and size coming up. Glad to see these classes have a chance now to be successful. Last year was just horrendous to watch. Camels can only go up from here.
