  1. I have also heard good things about the Moss and Downs kids at Boone. Of course everyone knows about Carson Williams at Owen Co. He played Varsity last year as an 8th grader.
  2. I like this better because if Arroyo and Bailey both lose, atleast we would have our 2 aces going with our backs against the wall. If 1 of the 2 win then we have both aces to close it out. Makes alot of sense Bailey pitching on Tuesday is 5 days rest, Cueto on Wed gives him 3 days rest and more time for his back and Latos on Thursday with a 4 day rest. Definately the way to go!
  3. I am amazed at the lack of respect he gets. When i evaluate a player, i always look at how easy can he be replaced? His Homeruns, RBI's, Slugging, and OBP are not easily replaceable therefore he is a good player. That said he does have faults his defense is terrible and he strikes out to much. However, i still think he is a good player and one you can win with! Don't be a hater, love the BIG DONKEY!
  4. That is a bear of a district. You have to win 2 games just to get to the region!
  5. They might struggle more than people realize. The players they lost were pretty good!
  6. Interesting. It will never happen though.
  7. Do you think Gary Forrest might be interested in coming out of retirement? North has a good squad returning and could possibly win the 8th Region next year. Are there any other coaches in the area looking to make a move. I heard the other day that the former coach at Grant County might be looking to get back into coaching.
  8. What coaching positions are still open? I am aware of the following: Bath County Franklin County Greennup County Are there any others? When do these schools plan to make a hire? Summer basketball is in full swing starting next week!!
  9. Why does his name keeping coming up? Either they want him real bad or someone must want him gone from Grant County.
  10. Is there anything open in Northern Kentucky?
  11. Which one is the better job? DId he leave on good terms at Bath? Why would he want to go back?
  12. Mason County or Montgomery County? These seem to be the 2 that were complained about the most.
  13. I believe that is still in doubt. Let's give him some more time and see how he does. I don't think that you can always measure a coach as being good by the number of wins they get. Wins can be manipulated by the schedule that you play. I think that in order to truly evaluate a coach you have to look at lots of areas and that can't just be done in a 1 or 2 year window. I think you have to look at the development of the players they coach (Are they getting better?), is he a great motivator and communicator (Do his players play hard at all times and do they respect him?), and can he beat teams that are better than his? A great quote i heard one time was: "He can beat mine with his, and if he had mine he would beat his! Lots of coaches get tons of wins because they have superior talent over the teams they play. I like to see coaches that maximize their talent! I thought a great example of this, this past year was Coach Humphrey at Clark County.
  14. Maybe Coach Hicks has realized how difficult it is to win in Grant County. The only team sport that has had consistent success for the last 10 years is Fast Pitch Softball and a lot of that can be contributed to the fact that the coach of the girls Fast Pitch team dumps a ton of his own money into the program. Also, i would argue his best class should have been this year's seniors. However, they all quit over the last 2 years. When this group of seniors were Freshman they went 17-3 and beat Boone County once and lost to them once by 4 points. Boone wins the 9th and Grant has 2 players left from that team????
  15. Maybe that is why they didn't get out of the Region this year.
  16. I had a little time on my hands last night so i did a little research. Looking back on the KHSAA website, Grant County also played Lexington Catholic, Clark County, Anderson County, and Ryle, Dixie Heights and Conner from the 9th Region. I would say that is a little tougher than: Villa Madonna, Calvary Christian, Ludlow, and Bellevue from the 9th and Eminence, Trimble Co, and Spencer from the 8th. That might be why it took him a little longer to win 100. He actually won 143 games in 10+ years. That is right at 14 a year against good competetion. How many did the Braves win the last 3 years (10, 9, and 15)? Does that add up to 14 a year and against alot weaker competition. Maybe Kinmon wasn't the problem.::sssh:
  17. BGCAT, you must be a grumpy old man! :madman: Last week you called MADMAN out and today you are calling out SPORTSMANIAC. Do you have any friends? By the way i didn't see any responses to Maniac's questions??
  18. What have they went through this year? They may have won 15 games, but their schedule was pretty weak! If I am correct they only won 3 games against teams with winning records.
  19. This was one of the largest margins of the night! The score indicates Grant Co was outclassed.
