Is the Scott County loss to Elder a Moral Victory?
4luvofthegame replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
No. Elder is down from last year -
This is the one and only post I will make on this subject. My kid is an open enrollment to Simon Kenton. Even though we live in the city of Independence and are a part of that community the school district lines say we go to Scott. My son grew up playing for South Kenton and developed relationships with most of his teammates years ago. The vast majority of the open enrollment kids I know are in this exact same situation. While I understand that the school board draws lines to keep enrollment even it does not change community involvement or life long friendships. I personally know of no open enrollment kids that are leaving their respective communities to come to SK. It is the kids in Independence who are choosing to stay and play in Independence that are open enrolling. We root for Scott when we are not playing them, they are our neighbors and I have a lot of friends whose kids attend Scott. Our open enrollment has nothing to do with a dislike for Scott HS but what we have built in Independence.

NKY Football Coaches Poll Week 3

My guess would be that there is one coach with an axe to grind and left SK off the top 10. -
NKY Football Coaches Poll Week 3
4luvofthegame replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Football (High School)
The Highlands/Cooper thing already has been settled on the field and they still didn't get it right. I can't lie, I look forward to the coach's poll every week. It is entertaining if nothing else. -

They have been doing it all year. -

Conner is much improved over last year and they played their guts out. They will make that district very interesting. -
Simon Kenton 50 Bryan Station 7

6 different players scored in the opener and 5 in this one. That offensive balance will serve the Neers well when they face the top dogs in 6A. -

Gotcha, I just see both St X and SK with multiple score victories. -
Any MUST SEE games Friday ?

Nice list but I would think the Ryle/Henry Clay game will be more must see than both the St X and SK/BS games. -

Everybody take a deep breath. With 5 first place votes to only 2 it looks like one of the coaches either intentionally or unintentionally left them off the ballot. Everyone knows coaches don't like participating in this anyway, so often times it is not even the coach ranking the teams.

Just confirmed with a coach NO 8th graders on the Freshman team.

What 8th graders are you talking about. I am pretty close to the program and I haven't heard of any.

Both teams subbed freely starting about midway through the 2nd quarter. It was a varsity scrimmage through 3 quarters but there were subs for both sides on the field. As for play calling both teams were very vanilla. I didn't even know SK knew how to huddle until last night. X's starting QB played the third quarter albeit with some backup receivers and looked OK. Overall I thought St X looked much better this year over last. Last year I'm not sure they wanted to be there. Racke only played a quarter and a half so backup Matt Schearer accounted for the last two TDs. Score was 7-7 at half and 21-7 when the JVs took the field.

Kids from Scott Lloyd and Boone Co. Saw a MSJ coach there, not sure of HS coaches as I wouldn't know them to see them. I was told there were a few there.

Boys were on the field at 11:30 no pads or helmets warming up. At 11:45 they announced the team roster, at midnight they suited up and warmed up until about 12:25. They then scrimmaged until about 2:30. There was no one with equipment on before midnight. Why would you open the practice up to the public with players and coaches from other teams and college coaches there and do something illegal?
