  1. I think a ton of credit should be given to the HHS offensive coaching staff for last night. They came in with a great game plan and the team executed near flawlessly in the first half. They Mixed the short pass with the run to keep the blitzes off the QB and went over top when the DBs started to get aggressive. Both teams will learn from this and get better. As for the defense, the good news for HHS is they aren't the only team SK could have scored 70 on just the first one they had to. I am sure the HHS game film will become the blueprint for other teams offenses against SK so the coaching staff and players will need to figure some things out if they want to make a deep playoff run. And for the record I thought the much maligned offensive line for HHS played very good last night.
  2. Yes, but that leaves 33 to 34 like sized schools that NKY 6A is competing just fine with. Again there is still growing to be done to catch the top dogs but your original post talked about all like sized schools not just the elite 2 or 3.
  3. Don't think there is any lack of respect, everyone knows Ryle is good. The question is how much better are they this year over last year.
  4. I can see that. Last year SK pressured him all night and forced him into mistakes. Pressuring Morgan will be a big part of who wins that game. Morgan is a good athlete but he is not a running QB and is less accurate on the run.
  5. Minus two teams in Louisville I think several NKY 6A teams have faired well with like sized schools. They have not always won but they have been competitive against them. NKY has 3 teams in the top 10 of 6A most if not all of the last 2-3 years. The next step is definitely to start competing with the big two. Hopefully we are closing that gap.
  6. You are not the only one to think that about SK/Ryle so I am curious what you are basing it off of. SK's closest game was to a 3-1 Conner team while Ryle's was a one score win against HC who then got pasted by an average Tate's Creek team.
  7. Well maybe if you didnt flaunt your two monster privates all the time we wouldn't have such a problem with them. After all no one wants monster privates waved in their face. If you just kept your two monster privates to yourself I bet everyone would be more appreciative of the gifts bestowed upon you.
  8. Does he have any interest in playing at the next level? Hard to get looks with just one year at the helm. You better have had some really good camps.
  9. I came away very impressed with Lonaker. He throws a great ball he is accurate and has great poise in the pocket. He does not look like a first year varsity starter. Borchers always does a great job with his QBs. What grade is he in?
  10. Nope. Him and their starting QB still out with injuries.
  11. That conversation has happened exactly zero times since we have been affiliated with SK.
  12. If you don't think football matters to the educational leaders of Male HS I would call you extremely naive. Last I checked Jefferson County has a significantly larger population than Kenton. I don't know about you but $3K a year is not a little advantage. (Tuition) Not sure there are more good football teams in Louisville than in NKY,and per capita I would say all in all NKY equates itself very well. Other than the private schools Male is easily the big dog with Manuel a distant second. I am not sure there is truly that much competition for the elite talent in Jefferson County that can't afford a private school education. Once again they are all obstacles to overcome not insurmountable but obstacles none the less.
  13. First of all, I in no way think that NKY schools cannot potentially compete with the Louisville schools but you are comparing apples to oranges. 1. Open enrollment in 3 county schools does not compare to open enrollment in all of Jefferson County. If any student in a Kenton school other than the three county schools wants to attend a county school they must pay tuition. I think we can agree that the talent pool is very different in all of Jefferson County than in the southern part of Kenton County. 2. Male is a magnet school. You have to apply and be accepted to go there. This allows Male to choose their student population. While I don't think being able to play football alone gets you into Male, I also don't think it hurts your chances. Male has taken football seriously for a very long time. 3. Transportation, I am a little fuzzy on this but the way it was explained to me. You can bus from anywhere in the county to all schools. You may have to transfer busses but you can get it done. In Kenton County there is no bus service for any open enrolled students. So if a kid wants to go to SK from say Ft. Mitchell or Covington not only do they have to pay tuition they must also find a way to and from school. Again I in no way think that NKY 6A schools should not be able to compete with Louisville schools, but there are distinct advantages that must be overcome to do so.
  14. I believe that was in old 3A not 4A. I don't think there has ever been a big school state champion in NKY.
  15. Well this is a disappointment, really not a whole lot to complain about here. Possibly HC over Dixie or Cov Cath over Cooper but all in all not bad.
  16. I did not take it as you dissing the SK players. With 7 receivers, 3 running backs, and 2 QBs on offense and 5 DBs, and 6LBs on defense all getting significant varsity minutes and no one going both ways, I do not see the skill position advantage going to Cooper.
  17. You are grossly under estimating the talent level and depth of the SK skill players.
  18. Looks like the weather for this week is going to be dry. Good thing, Cooper's field drains like my buddies farm pond.
  19. Absolutely agree with this. Testiment to this young mans character. Well done
