  1. Yep they travel to CAL week zero.
  2. Does the addition of the three basketball players and the HHS transfer vault NCC over Dixie and possibly Scott?
  3. Brian looks like a college ready linebacker. The kid has worked his tail off in the weight room. I believe he is benching around 350 and squatting over 425 on a 210lb frame. He is set to have a monster year, and will end up being one of the best LBs to have played for SK.
  4. I know Jonathan Sergent got reps, I also believe Nate Cremeans did as well. There will be several wrinkles in the varsity backfield this year.
  5. Yes, on both accounts. The kids really like it.
  6. Beautiful night for football last night. I would estimate 400 to 500 people showed up for midnight madness, including several players from other teams. As to be expected there was some good and some bad. One thing for sure is they will be diverse on offense. I thought the first team D outplayed the first team O until the last few drives then the offense got rolling. D line looked good last night that is a good sign since they lost 2 3 year starters there. Racke had good zip on his ball and looks very fast on the football field. Overall a very solid start for a first practice. Expectations are high in Independence.
  7. No they have not changed nor do they have to.
  8. If I am not mistaken SK and Ryle will not play each other until the semi's this year. That means SK will have to beat Lafeyette and Ryle will have to beat Scott Co in the regionals first. If and when that happens the semifinal game will be at Ryle.
  9. Midnight Sunday July 31st into Monday August 1st.
  10. SK went 3-3 in the Oldham 7 on 7 and lost to Ryle by a touchdown I believe.
  11. Curious as to your reasoning, as I have heard this several times now. I do believe Ryle will be improved over last year but so should SK. SK was 2-0 against them last year both by multiple scores, they have more returning starters, and they pretty much handled them at the JV level. Again I think Ryle is going to be very good this year I just don't see them making up that much ground to be the favorite over SK.
  12. CAL could absolutely upset SK, but they will need to bring their A+ game. SK looks to be bigger, faster, and more experienced than last year.
  13. 1. SK - The best NKY team last year with the most coming back and an undefeated JV team to support the returning starters 2. Ryle - Morgan and crew will be improved from last year but will it be enough to fully close the gap with the Pioneers ? 3. Cooper - While I think they take a step back this year it will not be a very big one. They return some playmakers and Borchers is a terrific coach. 4. Cov Cath - I know you can't rank them ahead of HHS until they beat them but its my top ten. AJ will be much improved from last year and I think they have more coming back up front than HHS 5. Highlands - It sounds like they have the offensive skill positions covered in the Fort but do they have enough upfront on both sides of the ball to beat anyone ranked above them? 6. Scott - Welcome to life without the two stud running backs lucky for them they still have a lot upfront and Nelson Perrin to fill the void. 7. Dixie - They were young last year and gained valuable experience. Cameron Barrett should have a big year 8.9.10. Beechwood, NCC, Holy Cross - Holy Cross has the most coming back but were also 0-2 against them. NCC has Henschen, HC has Abernathy & Barnes, and Beechwood has Justice & Castleman I think these three separate themselves at the line of scrimmage. Lucky for us they all play each other. HM- Conner - They started off last year off the list and do so again but I have to think by the end of the season they may be back there again.
  14. Congrats to JC, very happy for him and his family. I hope he has a huge year for the Pioneers.
  15. R What happened to their point guard ? He was only a junior last season.
  16. This looks like one of the best 7 on 7 events in the state.
  17. I heard a rumor that St X, Male, Simon Kenton, Ryle and Highlands will all be competing. Can anyone confirm this and or add any other teams participating?
  18. It all comes down to how bad they want you. There are kids playing NAIA and D3 that are getting virtually their entire education paid for and there are kids playing those levels that are getting next to nothing. My son will be a senior this year and has all kind of contact from mainly D2 and below schools. We have made the decision that if playing football drastically lowers the cost of college below that of attending EKU or WKU as a normal student, we will consider the opportunity, if not he will not play football in college.
  19. I must be as stupid as you because I don't get it either. Refs miss calls, get over it. Look at the 3rd foul called on Kevin Love there was less contact there than the Curry foul. Conspiracy theorists only see what they want to see.
  20. I read both and disagree on both. 1. You only have 2 weeks of contact practice before your scrimmage so added contact practices in the spring can help teams work on the fundamentals as well as getting younger players use to the speed of varsity players. 2. June is the open month of the year for all sports. July for football is like November for basketball. It is your preseason practice time.
