  1. Colt had a very exciting last few weeks of school. Coaches from Michigan St, Vanderbilt, WKU, and KY stopped in to SK.
  2. I would think Frommeyer not being a teacher has to be a detriment to him getting the varsity job? How many non-teachers coach boys basketball in NKY?
  3. Colton picks up an offer from EKU to add to his one from UC. There should be many more to come this summer for Mr Williams.
  4. Are both Frommeyer and Stapleton teachers? If so are they both already in the building? I believe this would give them a leg up.
  5. V I never once debated the fact that Trinity was better than SK last year. What I took exception to is the way they were being compared. I firmly believe the gap is closing it may be slower than some like but I do believe the gap is closing. What does Trinity have coming back this year?
  6. This thread is about the SK 2016 schedule and if you did not want the Layfeyette comparison brought up you should not have used it in your post.
  7. There is a reason Male ended up ranked in the top ten in the country last year. There was no one in the state of Ky beating them last year not Lafeyette not Trinity and not SK.
  8. Never said it invalidated your point. Comparing Layfeyette in the regular season to Lafeyette in the playoffs is like comparing apples to moon pies just ask Scott Co.
  9. The Rocks hanging 70 on the Generals has a lot to do with the fact that they were not playing their 2 5* athletes and a third D1 player on defense during the regular season. See the Scott Co regular and post season scores as examples. Lafeyette also played Male much closer in the title game.
  10. H Agree with all of those choices. i wouldn't mind seeing Male X or Trinity as well. I am no fan of scheduling any games that you are going to win or lose by 50 points but I think the program has improved enough that they can at least compete with the best the state has to offer.
  11. I feel adding another quality non-NKY 6A team to the schedule would be a much better upgrade than Cov Cath at this point. They are for sure going to play all 5 of the other NKY 6A teams each year. The BOE says they must play both Dixie and Scott. Cov Cath is not an upgrade over Bryan Station or Highlands so that only leaves the CAL game to replace.
  12. Kenton County Board of Education mandates that the 3 Kenton County schools play each other in all sports. In the past Scott petitioned and won a temporary stop to playing football until there program was back on its feet. The games were reinstated last year. Scott and Dixie cannot come off their schedule. As for CAL I agree they could have done better but I believe a last minute cancellation sent SK looking for a team and to CALs credit they stepped up. For what it is worth the rumor is the schedule will get even better for 2017. Probably another non-NKY 6A team will be added.
  13. Was there any score when the game was called?
  14. The spring game went well. Both sides of the ball looked pretty good. The weight room has helped a bunch of the kids. The decision to skip basketball has paid off for several of the boys. Cam, Brian Carter, and Luke Vance all look like they have added 15 to 20 pounds of muscle. There was a good crowd there probably 250 to 300 fans. A lot of colleges past through the last 2 weeks, there are more than a few players generating college interest.
  15. Practice starts at 4, the game should start between 4:30 and 5.
  16. SK will host their annual spring game this Friday. The white team will consist of the Varsity O and the JV D, while the blue team will be Varsity D and JV O. This format puts the varsity O & D against each other. No kicks or punts but it will be set up like a game situation. Not sure if this game will be officiated, I know they bring refs in for midnight madness but not sure about the spring game. After the game the SK Sideliners Football Boosters will host a meet and greet for all the players and their families in the cafeteria. I hear Skyline will be on the menu. This game will be open to the public and concessions will be available.
  17. E Nope, I am a firm believer in you should have to win your region of the state to advance to the semifinals. What they are doing now completely eliminates a true region champion.
  18. I agree, they need to quit trying to manipulate the system. Put each team in their proper geographical district and region and let the chips fall where they may. 4 region champs move on to the semis and the winners go to the finals.
  19. B I agree with all of this. They have fixed the super district issue now they need to define geographical regions and stick to them.
  20. While I am admittingly new to 6A football, I must be missing something. Dont all other sports and all othere divisions of football have set regions you must win every year to advance? How are the rest of 6A football avoiding them if they win the region? To me and my knowledge is only from being on here it seems the main argument is from the city of Louisville wanting two teams in the state finals. For some reason a lot of people on here feel 6A football should be treated differently from every other division and sport in the state.
  21. congrats to Braden. This is a huge accomplishment especially for a sophmore pitching only his second varsity game. SK has a lot of young baseball talent coming up. They will be formidable by seasons end.
  22. OK here is my take: Ryle, Dixie, Scott and other schools with regulation tracks put you to far from the field. Dixie and Scott's are both very good looking stadiums but the away bleachers are absolutely useless and the corridor in the stands at Dixie is very narrow. If you sit at the end of the field away from the entrance it is chore to get to the concessions during halftime. I like the entrance to the stadium above the bleachers and field level but it eliminates the ability to have standing room around the field in big games. I love the atmosphere at HHS but there are just not enough bleachers for the big games. I do love the building blocking in the crowd noise on the other side though. I like Cov Cath but the bleachers leave a lot to be desired. I think Newport for an older stadium is a very good setting. Bellevue and Dayton are perfect for the smaller schools (love the concrete stands). Conner does not get the credit it is due because of the playing surface. With that said the playing surface completely eliminates Cooper. SK is set up very good especially for big games (the first Ryle game had them 4-5 deep all the way around the north side of the field). Not the most aesthetically pleasing though. HHS, SK, Cov Cath and Newport would be my favorites for big games. The ability for standing room only around the field really adds to the atmosphere.
  23. And here I thought this was about the city of Louisville needing more 6A state runnerup trophies in it.
  24. The 1 seed of the district consisting of Campbell, Boone, and SK will host the regional finals this year. Unfortunately I believe the semis for the winner is in Louisville.
