The Cooper Bryan Station game seems to have taken a lot of the excitement out of this game.

I would venture to guess one of the coaches or who ever is burdened with the task of voting in this poll from the schools inadvertantly left SK off the list.

Another coach's dream for SK. A nice win against and good and dangerous oponent and plenty of mistakes to correct in films. This team is not close to their potential yet. This team needs to learn to put teams away when they have a chance. Week 1 up two scores with the ball and they let CAL back in it. CAL even took the lead briefly. Week 2 up 18 points with the ball in Station territory and they let a score slip away. Station scores twice and get right back into the game. A few penalties and some conservative play calling killed the drive that could have put them up 25.

You needing Depends has far more to do with your age than how your Bluebirds are playing.

You are correct, to many mental mistakes led to big plays for CAL. Those will be addressed, all will benefit from it, and SK will be a better team because of it. With that said I don't think you have any idea of the talent CAL has. While their numbers are in the 30s or 40s they have very good size and speed. Couple that with the fact they are well coached and you have a dangerous small school team.

So by this thinking if Campbell County beats Highlands,Cooper beats NCC and SK beats Bryan Station, you jump SK back over Cooper since the 2A New Cath win won't be as impressive as the 6A win?

At this point in the season, I would agree with you. I am more interested in what you think about Manual, Ballard, and St X at this point.

Honestly I missed the power word. At this point it looks like Trinity and Male are clear favorites. I was curious as to who else could make the top of the 6A list. After this weekends game we should have a much clearer picture.

So in your mind there are only two real 6A teams?

Since I have no knowledge of Station it's hard to pick them when the CKY rankings have them at 7. I would suspect the CKY group is underestimating them a bit and the rest of the state is over estimating them a bit. For that reason I will take SK 42-28. SK needs to play better than they did last Friday or this score could be reversed. The good news for them is most of the issues are easily fixed with some self discipline.

Both were roll outs so no big pressure. One was a bad read the other just an inaccurate pass. Receiver turned the corner around and the ball just didn't go where it was supposed to. For starting 3 Sophs the line looked really good.

In past years it has been with officials. 3 quarters varsity with frequent subbing and the 4th quarter for the JV. Plays out like a regular game except all special teams are simulated.

SK football had a great turnout today for community service. The team aided the fire department in painting fire hydrants in Independence. I was told that all but 2 players from the JV and Varsity volunteered their time. The 2 that didn't make it had a prior commitment to work.

I should have preficed my comment with as long as the two teams are of equal size and similar skills. Obviously this would not be true if Trinity were to line up against a 1A school. Whether it be 1A or 6A, schools playing against a like school, I think this would apply. Again I don't think you can pick a 1 game winner from it but I do think far more often than not the better performer in the scrimmage will have the better year.

I have always seen scrimmages as a much better measuring stick to the season as most on here. Yes, both teams are probably going to be very basic in their play calling and will sub frequently but it is still a competitive situation and the kids usually treat it as such. While I do not think the outcome of a scrimmage game would determine who would win a single game in the season, I do think it shows how a team will play over the length of the season. First of all the teams with more quality depth usually show well in scrimmages and secondly there is a time late in the season where its a tight game and your competition has seen everything you do. It will come down to execution and those basic plays will determine the difference of winning and losing. In short if you have quality depth and kids who truely are there to compete you may not win your scrimmage but you are going to come out looking pretty good.

A good weekend for the Pioneers this weekend. Their 7 on 7 group won 9 games and the Oldham Co tourney but more importantly Cameron Racke was lights out after the first 2 or 3 games. 9 games probably close to 200 passes and not one interception. Once they got rolling they scored at will. All the recievers looked great very few drops and multiple guys had over 10 TDs on the day, all 4 starters had at least 4-5 TDs. Defense got progressivly better as the day went on and as they started to play more aggressive. 7 on 7 scores don't do a lot for me but the way the balled was shared among multiple recievers, the reads Cameron made, the ball being out on time, and so few drops, it was very promising. While that was going on in Oldham Co Colton Williams attended UK's football camp. Not only did they move him from the underclassman group to the senior group, he was also pulled out as one of the 5 best offensive lineman of the camp. Coach Schlarman could not believe he is still only 14 years old. Probably pretty safe to say that this is not the last time he hears from the University of KY

The passing game looked very good at the spring game. The ball was out on time and accurately the receivers caught everything ang got up field quickly.

That is a fair assessment. With Racke being a sophomore I am sure they tried to give him some easier reads. With a year under his belt and a good group of receivers I look for more intermediate routes run.

SK's season will depend on how well they replace 4 offensive linemen and 4 Linebackers. The O'line will probably start two sophomores one being Colton Williams who is already getting a ton of D1 interest. The other 3 will be seniors one being the lone starter back in Sandlin who I believe has a college offer already. As for replacing the linebackers all 4 prospected starters saw significant key minutes last year and performed very well in big games. This group if they stay healthy should be very good. Having Racke back with a year under his belt is very exciting for the offense, add in a healthy Dillon Powell and they look poised to have a huge year. While Winkler and Hefflin are gone this year's group of receivers will be much deeper. Look for the ball to be spread around to multiple guys, I could see having 4 different receivers lead the team in receiving any given game. Dylan Hampton will also be a big asset backing up Powell. Defensively, I look for Brian Carter to have a huge year at outside linebacker. Add in 2 of 3 starting D-lineman back and 3 of 4 DBs back and they should be very good on this side of the ball. There is a lot to be excited about in Indy. They should be back in the regional finals again with another chance to break through to the semi's and possibly the finals.

At SK the teams are fed every game day. This includes one entree two sides a salad and dessert with chocolate milk or Gatorade. The freshman get fed the same way on their game days. Any road game further than 50 miles they get fed on the way home as well. 7 on 7 tourneys they are given Gatorade fruit and granola bars. They are also given Gatorade or chocolate milk after workouts during the off season. I was totally shocked when I heard the yearly budget for the Sideliners.

The way I understand it is basically strength and conditioning. You may be able to run football related drills on air but absolutely no equipment is to be worn. That makes any competitive drills almost impossible.
