I agree with your entire post. I have no issues with the starters playing the whole first half & first possession of the second. As an outsider I do think Dale got a reputation of running it up early in his career. The last 5 or so years I think that has softened but with that reputation I think coaches backed away from playing him.

Fist of all this success has been going on for 6 or 7 years now with the exception of 2011. Second I am not sure you understand how bad this program has traditionally been. CC and especially DHS were in much better places when the current coaches took over, they have simply elevated the programs. SK I believe had 5 winning seasons in their entire existence prior to 2003. I believe you when you say you want SK to succeed, we all do, but we just disagree with the paths to be taken. This last schedule was more challenging than the one before it and the next one will be considerably more difficult than the current one. Trying to skip steps will find you taking more steps back than forward. BTW I like good intelligent conversation about the success and failures of this program & I can appreciate that it can be difficult at times for various reasons.

Please list for me all the cupcakes on the last schedule so I know what we are talking about. HC I will give you,bad schedule move. Is Collins a cupcake? They are only 4a but you have been screaming from the top of your lungs to schedule HHS & Cov Cath who are currently 4A. New Cath ok they are 2A but they also hold a winning record over SK. The rest of the schools are 5&6A programs I believe.

First of all thanks for making my point for me. Yes Ryle has different things going on. As far as comparing to Ryle, these schools have a nearly identical enrollment but if it makes you feel better substitute Dixie or Campbell County in there. The point I am trying to make is that a surge in population in Independence while a factor is not near the factor it's made out to be. It is not like SK's enrollment is so much larger than the other 6A schools. Speaking of CC and DHS they both are seeing success with recent coaching changes. I really think Lickert is doing great things at CC. Is Campbell Counties success do to the number of students in their school? Yes to a small extant but not nearly to the magnitude of the coaching. This is a thread about how a coaches plan turned around a program that until he got there had been pretty much awful. VOR stated that it really wasn't the coach but more about population growth. I disagreed with that and I gave you the closest possible school with a like enrollment. I am sure there are several schools with a close enrollment to SK that are not in this area but why would I use them to compare? They may have a whole different set of issues to deal with.

Why is it enough said? Ryle has an almost identical enrollment as SK. Why would they need more students to accomplish the same success.

I don't disagree about challenging kids. I just don't think the best idea for building a solid foundation is overwhelming them.

Congratulations on your teams success but I wouldn't even know where to begin to talk about the differences between football and softball. If we can't agree that there are huge fundamental differences in those two sports we will have to agree to disagree. As for your scheduling scenario, SK before 2003 had like 5 winning seasons in its existence. They were building a solid foundation and along came 2011. In your scenario you would jeopardize fan and player interest to prove you can play a tough schedule. The last thing that needed to happen in Indy was a second 2-9 season. Just take a look at what scheduling over your head did to Ryle. Granted there were several factors that led to where they are now fighting out of but one of which was a loss of players participating. I don't have any numbers to back this up. All I know is the number of kids on the sidelines during the Elliott Hempel run seemed like a lot more than what they had last year. I understand your thinking and I agree playing tough competition can only make you better. I just disagree with the timing of trying to pull it off. If you go back to the summer of 2012 when the schedule was made there were only two games on that schedule you would have considered guaranteed wins.

Set after the 2011 but before 2012. Just like next years schedule was set this summer after 2013 and before 2014. On a side note. SK's next year schedule will have 6 - 6A teams on it, 2- 5A teams a 4A and a 2A. 2A - NCC 4A - Scott I believe this was mandated by the KC school board. 5A - Dixie & Highlands 6A - Ryle, Conner, Cooper, Boone, Campbell, and a Lexington 6A either Bryan Station or Henry Clay At least this is what I have been hearing.

It was set the summer before that year just like next years schedule is set before this season started. Nice try though.

OK I will take the counseling. You are the head coach, you just came off a 2-9 season, you have been pretty good for the 3 years before that, but your concerned for your program. You have a solid group of Sophomores including the QB but all are unproven especially the QB. Your numbers in the program are still pretty good and you want to keep them growing. What do you change about the current 2 year schedule?

What are the enrollments of the 4 Boone County Schools? Last I heard Ryle was the 1st or 2nd largest school in NKY. If this is the case there should be plenty of kids in those schools to compete.

The longest first half in the history of JV football. Lots of mistakes by both teams, to be expected in a first JV game, but lots of big plays as well. On a side note #73 for SK must have forgot his socks because it looked like he had his moms on. . Good game #73. Not everyday you see a successful 2 point conversion on a pass to the right guard.

Mathew Schearer played QB for SK last night.

Football is a true team sport I thought he was a standout. There will be plenty more opportunities for him to win games. Tell him to keep his chin up and keep working hard. BTW welcome to the site.

On a side note I really liked CC's QB. Big strong armed power running QB. Seems to be the trend in Campbell County.

With the heat it definitely was a factor.

I was at the game and they have zero players that start on both sides of the ball. They do shuffle players in and out especially on the defensive line. Several O-lineman saw significant snaps on the defensive side of the ball. No skill players go both ways. With special teams close to 30+ players see the field every game.

Scott's football program has very quickly outgrown this game. Good for them.

So you think a 50 point beat down and running clock somehow will help CC prepare for 6a? If this ends up being the score there is a good chance both teams JVs will play as much as the varsity.
