Fill us in... score indicates it was a good game. Are both good teams, mediocre, or bad?

The game realistically should have been a one score game. Scott actually led at one point, and bad clock management at the end of the first half resulted in an SK score that should have never happened. Scott also had a Nelson Perrin TD run called back late in the game. SK is bigger and deeper.. I don't know that SK had anyone that played both ways, whereas Scott had 7 or 8 kids that played both ways. Will Parks for SK had a big game and Scott had a difficult time tackling him. Considering the size and depth difference, take away a few mistakes, and Scott could have won the game. I'd say SK is a little better because of their depth, but Scott has some talent and proved they can play with anyone. Bright futures for both squads. It's really exciting to see Scott able to compete with a team that has traditionally beaten them badly, and the staff there is doing a great job of preparing this freshman group for the future.

I thought Nelson was the JV quarterback? I didn't know he was playing frosh also?

Who played QB for Simon?

Nelson is the freshman, JV and backup varsity QB. They only have about 5 JV games scheduled, and many of the freshman starters are pulling double duty on the JV team as well.

Isn't Matt Shearer's boy the qb?

Athletic kid with good size. Runs well, still needs to develop some arm strength, which will come. He did complete a few passes (wasn't a lot of zip on the ball) threw 2 TD's (I think) and a pick.

Is there not a KHSAA limit to how many quarters you can play in a week?

It's actually Danny Shearer's son who played LB at Georgetown College back in the 80's. His son Matt was at Highlands last year and transferred to Simon moving in with his Mother who lives a Crow's fly from SK. Matt was my QB last year in the FTJFL and did a very nice job. Why the Transfer? Some people say it was for personal reasons and others say he wanted to play QB at HHS and that wasn't going to happen this year. I hope Matthew the best of luck.....

Not sure but he won't be transferring anytime soon without sitting out....Right? Has Nelson played any Varsity snaps yet. Something tells me he has whether it be at QB or WR. Sounds like Nelson is locked in....:thumb:

There is a limit- thought it was 6 quarters per week- maybe even 5(?) Guess I've always been of the opinion that if you play up you stay up.

The schedule is set up so there are no issues with too much playing time. There are only 4 Jv games scheduled and I think 7 Freshman games. Everything is spread out, and weeks they play JV, there is no Freshman game, and when there is a freshman game, there's no JV game.

Nelson has taken a couple varsity snaps.
