  1. Newport played with all their players. No one was missing. Both Shorts played along with Pearson, Arroyo, Commodore, Parker, Turner...
  2. I just want to say congrats to Bellevue for putting up a fight last night and the seniors Devin Myers and Joe Hornback going out strong. It will be interesting which Newport team shows up tonight.
  3. Are the selections posted on line?
  4. Tony is the uncle of Marquis. Tony was actually being recruited by Virginia when he was a freshman.
  5. I thought it was funny....
  6. I was wondering, did the birds football team average more points than the basketball team?
  7. Birds need to zone the cats, I think that works best against Newport. Could be a interesting game.
  8. Q, why are coaches so afraid to change things up a little? I'm with you, try posting someone up or looking at your personnel and know you need to make a change.
  9. Clyde, you are hilarious! I love reading your comments.
  10. I think Highlands has a basketball only player and a good one at that. Witte is a solid top ten, 36 district player. Not only does he score but he usually has to defend the opposing teams better players. I would agree if the birds open up the offense, it would probably help. But Flynn is the coach and it is going to be his way. Good luck to the Birds.
  11. Not vorhees Nate arnzen is the soph. Guard. My mistake
  12. Zac poinsett is a jr point guard and is doing a nice job, very quick and is starting to see the floor.
  13. I thought the Bellevue team really grew up over these three games. Senior shooting guard Hornback is really stretching defenses now and making it easy for the other players to score. The Merideth kid got the all tournament award but it was clear to everyone in attendance with the opposing coaches constantly yelling out to find #4 who the player to watch was. The Woodyard kid for Bellevue is going to one to watch, just a soph. He has great potential. Also the vorhees kid is a nice young player. Over all the tigers are starting to come together and have a nice team.
  14. Bellevue was flat all night, no fire.
  15. Blewett had 33 and #4 for bellevue (Hornback) had 18pts, I think he had five 3's
  16. Oh I would never think the birds would only score 30! I just wonder if they will slow down once the other kids get back in the mix. I think highlands will have a nice year.
  17. He's about 6'5" and probably around 300
  18. I'm not sure if other teams do this during open gyms in the summer, but Newport would play without calling any fouls. On Newport's part, it could be carryover from aggressively scrimmaging that way over the summer. They also had foul trouble against Holmes. At some point they will have to adjust or be in foul trouble all year.
  19. Guilkey was going to play, he was working out with the team. Once the football players came in, he realized he was not going to be a part of the picture. He a great kid. Another Newport kid pushed to the side.
  20. Yes. His version of one and done is working. There were people in the crowd on the Newport side asking which ones were "Newport" kids. Garland and Guilkey are not playing. TJ quit prior to the first game. The other two transfers this year are from Cincinnati. Bringing the total Cincinnati transfers to four.
  21. 58-51 Holmes Final I have to say I was expecting Holmes to win this by a bigger margin. Newport was a surprise. Very physical and athletic. Bench was not deep and it showed when they got into foul trouble. Holmes seemed to have a bad night shooting. They missed some easy shots and threes didn't seem to fall easily. I don't have any stats though, just memory. Overall, it was a fun game to watch.
