Blackcats are taking care of business. With the exception on the Pikeville game in week one, in which two blown coverage assignments cost us two touchdowns, this defense has been lights out.

Pikeville has improved over the last few years. Coach Mac really has that program heading in the right direction. The only problem is this years Belfry team will probably go down as one of the best ever teams of the programs history. With the history of the Belfry program, thats saying a lot. Pikeville may come out and keep it close in the 1st quarter on adrenaline alone, but Belfry wins this one by as many as Haywood wants. The good thing for Pikeville is Haywood is a classy coach and will not run up the score intentionally. Belfry 49 Pikeville 14

I'm a huge Prestonsburg fan, but hate the Litkenhous Rankings. No way Prestonsburg is #20 in the state. These rankings are a joke.

Total domination by the Pirates in this one. I was really impressed with the Pirates team speed. Love the way #5 Hatfield runs. I was impressed with him as a sophmore and he has gotten better every year. I really thought the Pirates would be sluggish in this one. Boy was i surprised. Good to see they are not on our schedule this year.

Belfry is breaking in a new QB also.

When the little Eastern Kentucky Schools beat the Northern or Western schools we have to come up with some excuse, right? You lost period. Hazard was the better team and won. As a whole the Eastern Kentucky schools are usually down in football, but once in a while you have that talented group that comes through that is a special team. This was one of those cases. Hazard had one heck of a team that year. The scoreboard also said Hazard was the better team. Make any excuse you want that's what the losing team does. Mayfield is just not usually accustomed to doing that, but for 2011 they get to do that.

A little history about Cam Stadium. Belfry's first game at Cam was a loss to Henry Clay. I think Henry Clay will have to much speed on the edge for Belfry to contain. Henry Clay by 2 td's.

Pike County Central says it is a mistake. As of now it is postponed. I agree with another poster that Whitley County will probably forfeit due to the distance of travel, and due to basically playing 3 games in 8 days.

He has won more games coaching than I have, so who am I to question his calls? If I was personally making that decision I would take the FG attempt. The kicker was more than capable of making it. Once again though, who am I to question the call? I support our team and coaching staff.

I agree about the squeeze. The game was called in the 2nd quarter. I'm not sure what time was remaining. It will be a difficult week for both teams.

Few notes to add. Pike County Central vs. Whitley County is not final. They will resume this game on 9-22-14. Some other players to watch for Pikeville is there Mr. Everything #13 Cody Estep & #45 RB Daric Pugh who was plagued with injuries last year. Pugh is a beast at RB. Some players to watch for Betsy Layne are QB Peyton Case and RB Lako Daniels.

Pikeville's first two scores was on blown coverage assignments. Both teams made several mistakes in this game. Prestonsburg led 29-15 going into the fourth quarter. Prestonsburg was up 29-22 with around five minutes to go in the game on Pikeville's 14 facing a 4th and 2 and elect to go for it rather than take the field goal attempt. Pikeville held them. Prestonsburg held Pikeville on the next possession on downs. Pikeville held Prestonsburg on the ensuing possession with just under two minutes left in the game Pikeville took over on Prestonsburg's 42 with no timeouts remaining. Pikeville scores with 12.3 seconds left in the game and line up for the extra point. An off sides penalty is called on Prestonsburg and Coach Mac immediately sends his QB on the field to go for the win, and they converted. Several turnovers and mistakes by both teams in this game. Pikeville never lost focus and never gave up. Great game, great comeback. Congrats to the Panthers and good luck the rest of the season.
