Beechwood 41 Dixie 27 final from Beechwood. Beechwood JV remains undefeated at 4-0 (Simon Kenton, Holy Cross, Cov Cath, Dixie)

The first drive by Dixie was impressive. Most of the work being done by Pike and Cohorn. Pike was yelling at his line during the first quarter of the game. Pike also was getting into it with one of the receivers during the 2nd drive (#9 I think). That kind of behavior should never be tolerated. You can't be much of a team when this is happening. Why Doesn't Dixie have any depth? For a 6A school there has to be some other athletes that can marginally replace Bruns or Justice. Do the Dixie coaches prepare for "Plan B" just in case someone gets hurt or do the coaches only focus and develop their top talent? It just seems that the skill level fall off is huge after the first group. Nice win for the Tigers!

Has there been a close game in the series since it started in mid 2000s? Seems to me that Beechwood kicked but for a few years and more recently Dixie has been returning the favor. This could be the game when things are more evenly matched.

Heard it was 29-0 at half. Beechwood scored early 3rd quarter and Holmes scored early 4th quarter. The storm blew in and the game was called with just over 8 minutes left in the game. I asked for someone to collect the scores. Hopefully I will get them today. Beechwood Frosh are now 5-0 with Holy Cross and Purcell Marion left on the regular season schedule.

Yeah, Mayfield took the dive vs Frankfort in 2007 to avoid the "L"! :-)

What position does Schrage play?

It would be stupid to rush back to play against Beechwood. The most important games start next week and the rest of the year. I don't see how he could be healed and ready to play again in 4 weeks.

Who played in this game for Cov Cath that didn't play against Beechwood JV last week?

Yes, don't know why specifically but they only had about 20 kids total so them playing in the small school seems justified. Lets hope they can get their program kick started and then move up.

With the games this week it appears that many could have one loss when trying to figure the playoffs for the large school division. What are the current records and what are the remaining "big" games? Is Cov Cath and dixie the only unbeatens?

Yes, all three are 8th graders. Fieger has some nice throws but also some bad ones. He seems to like the throw it out there and let the receivers run under it. Seems his best throws go to his cousin (Slusher). Must be all those years at family parties. The Kickoff return was kicked off to the side away from the wall that Beechwood sets up. Fieger had to run slightly backwards and from one hash mark all the way to the other side of the field. They faked the reverse which fooled almost all the Scott kids. He had a few good runs on offense also.
