How is Nicholas County (5-1)still getting overlooked? Maybe it will take them beating the #8 team this week, (2-4) Raceland, for them to get some love. How can a team that is 2-4 be ranked in the top 10??? I have a lot of respect for the tradition at Raceland, but tradition should have no bearing on rankings.

I would honestly rather see region rankings than just a straight up top 10, or maybe even rank the top 10 on each side of the classes bracket. The playoffs are ultimately where every team will be judged, deciding where teams stack up against the teams that they will definitely play in the postseason would be very valuable. Maybe even just a top 3 or 4 from each region. I will admit that would be a lot of work and very subjective, but could be fun.

All looks pretty close to me. Raceland has moved down and should have. Actually I wouldn't have any complaints if Raceland had dropped out of the top 10. I have been saying for a few weeks now that Fairview should be higher and now see that they have moved up to #5, and probably could be higher imo. O Line may have a valid point about Nicholas, only one loss and have beaten some people by pretty good margins. Nicholas Co. could very well come into Raceland next Friday and leave with a win.

One thing that no one can agrgue with is 1 and 2.

Louisville Holy Cross is kicking butt. My biggest fear as a Beechwood fan is that Mayfield will lose to them in the game before the semi-state. Beechwood wants to play Mayfield. If we lose, we lose. But we want the opportunity to beat them.

That's funny. Beechwood would love to only have to travel to Louisville vs to Mayfield. Under 2 hrs is much better than +5 hrs. I'm sure they'd also love to beat Mayfield, but, don't think they wouldn't be ecstatic to play HCross instead. Beechwood wants to win state titles, plain and simple, and playing Holy Cross gives them a better chance at that. That trumps any vendetta you're trying to invent here..

No vendetta. Yes, all you say is true about the shorter drive, etc. But honestly, if Beechwood were to win a state title without beating Mayfield, it wouldn't be as satisfying.

What vendetta? My take is that it is the continued respect for the Mayfield program and the bar that they have set that other 1A programs measure themselves against.

Well, come on down and getcha some then. I don't see HCross beating Mayfield, especially at Mayfield. They're a solid team though, just not enough speed to matchup too well with the Cardinals, imo...

I am sure Mayfield fans feel the same way. They would rather beat Beechwood on their way to the title than not.

Yeah, Mayfield took the dive vs Frankfort in 2007 to avoid the "L"! :-)

I think they just want to win a title and play whoever earns there way to the next game and the next and the next. I don't think they really care whether its Bwood or Frankfort or Bellevue or whoever.
