Certified Athletic Trainers : What's a Valid Excuse?
Sorry, you could probably copy/paste it into the browser.. Interesting film to say the least, wouldn't it be nice to have the team Euliss (sp?) Trinity had?!?

Certified Athletic Trainers : What's a Valid Excuse?
Thought some of you may find this story interesting. It is a video you can watch directly on the website: High school football has never had a higher profile, with nationally televised games, corporate sponsorships, and minute-by-minute coverage on sports websites. In northwest Arkansas, FRONTLINE examines one ambitious high school team working its way towards national renown. With a superstar quarterback at the helm, tiny Shiloh Christian is striving to join the ranks of the country’s best high school teams—teams whose workout schedules, practices, and styles of play increasingly imitate the pros. But as high school players grow bigger, faster, and stronger, there are growing concerns about the health and safety of these young players, with rising rates of concussions and death from heat stroke.

Collins 33 Spencer County 14
Spencer gave Collins a decent showing in the first half.. Looked like Collins just had too many horses-- RB Brooks is pretty shifty! I remember his dad playing in the 90's. Not too many people at the game- sad to see that considering it was a 2nd round game. Good luck to Collins and Coach Lucas next week.

Who will be the next Coach at Dixie?
What would my comment have to do about lack of knowledge in coaching? I simply referenced facts about WV past seasons.. We know you obviously have an agenda- your screen name.. I also believe anyone who posts on here has an agenda, their own. As far as building programs from scratch, you are right, never had the pleasure... Or maybe I have- that you do not know..

Who will be the next Coach at Dixie?
I still haven't quite figured out what the draw is here. He took over an up and coming new program at a school that has always had it's fair share of athletes-- then proceeded to lose miserably in his first year, catch a good district in a bad year in his 2nd only to then beat Bracken (how they get in playoffs is a joke) and get hammered by Frankfort. Then jump in class to a lower quality opponent (minus Owen this year)(left Beechwood, Bellevue, etc) and lose in the first round of playoffs to a team they beat soundly in the season (looking past Lloyd was a mistake). This makes him a quality candidate for a big time NKY job?!? Not so much. I think Scott's coach should stay there, they deserve to have a legit HC. Sounds to me like Borchers is doing pretty well at Cooper- so I wouldn't see him moving. I am intrigued about this Siple fella- hear a lot about him and I appreciate offensive innovators since the game has moved from ground and pound over the last few years. Interesting debate for the next weeks/months.. Hopefully for Dixie not months....

Collins/Spencer County - Predictions
I am a warrior myself... Plus I played for both coaches (Lucas and Shipley) when Lucas first came to S-ville.. Like them both but Lucas was a favorite. Was glad to see him get the job and having success.. I will get my first look at the team this weekend..

Collins/Spencer County - Predictions
Will be attending this game- hope Coach Lucas gives me a good reason for making the trip back home to Shelbyville.. Don't know much about either team so I am gonna homer this pick and say Collins wins..

Lloyd Memorial 13 Walton Verona 0
Not that surprised on this one.. I figured it would be a close game- talked to a Lloyd guy and he had said they were gonna make Walton beat them in the air. Can't win in postseason when you are one dimensional- have to be able to change it up with different looks.. Lack of preparation or general oversight? Also not 100% on this but if you look at schedules from the season I would have given Lloyd the edge b/c of better competition.. While WV was playing Gallatin, Trimble, Estill, etc. Lloyd had a pretty decent haul in late season.. (Holy Cross, NCC, Newport, Bellevue) Even in losses, when you play better competition it makes you better..

Collins 56 Atherton 0
Nice district record.. Haven't kept up with them too much this year.. Strengths and Weaknesses going into the playoffs? Which team would be the best matchup for the first round?
-
Collins 56 Atherton 0
Love to see this! Congrats to Coach Lucas. Anybody know where they sit in the running for playoffs?

Campbell County 6 Simon Kenton 0
That's not gonna win ya any ballgames. I don't care how good your defense is. That apparently either gauges toward no athletes on offense or bad play management. Surprised at this score.

Owen County 27 Walton-Verona 6
Stats anyone? Looked for it to be closer..

Parents Facebook post cost TN. high school team wins
I get that what the mother did was cheating according to Tenn. high school athletic association but the basis for the reason of that rule is an interesting argument. They should not punish citizens of the U.S. for wanting to give their children a better opportunity. If these young men were living in the district with a family member then that means they were fulfilling the need of the school (money) b/c their family was paying some type of tax. IN TWO CITIES! Not only were these folks fulfilling the desired outcome for the school--kids go where they want, they are happy, enjoying success. All because this family had a "part" of it (ma) in a different city, should not be a crime. We sometimes forget that publicly funded schools get "per child" dollars. Anyway, school had to vacate wins, the rule was enforced--so be it. I have no dog in the fight but a parent should be able to make a decision on the future and well being of the child. So what if they can play some ball. It should be education first, sports next... IMO, --off the soapbox...

Henry County @ Walton Verona Predictions
Don't forget that North Oldham is a pretty decent ball club. So it really isn't too surprising that if Henry is rebuilding that they looked a little sloppy in Week 1. A lot of teams have week 1 hiccups. However I would think Henry would have the edge in this one b/c coaches can't play the game. Who is to say that Henry's coaching staff hasn't "bonded" well also? Henry is a bigger school with more athletes--not to say Walton doesn't have athletes--but Henry should be able to produce a little more size and that could hurt Walton up front. Don't know too much about Henry, but I'm gonna lean towards them in this one since Walton proved me wrong last week. I will probably get some egg thrown at me since this seems to be a pro Walton posting--and a few I told ya so's if they win.. Interested to see the result considering it is in Verona.....

Trinity 45 Brentwood Academy (TN) 7
Wasn't predicting, was stating. Might be an obvious statement but thats good for T fans right?
-
Bellevue 21 Walton Verona 0
Not really expecting to see this score...Figured it would be a little higher in score on both sides, especially with Sarge saying WV was super fast this year. Sounds like WV misses the guys up front, gotta block for that speed to succeed.. WV should be fine when they hit district games- not a tough haul (Gallatin, Trimble, Owen, Carroll) very winnable games... Congrats to Bellevue's new coach!

Trinity 45 Brentwood Academy (TN) 7
Found out about the ky team? Solid win to kick it off, right? T has the reloadable weapons to compete every year and I assume this year is no exception. Look to see them deep in the year.. Way to represent!

Covington Catholic 42 Campbell County 2
2? Must have been late in the game? Somebody said the correct answer to success in HS football.. SIZE. If you have some big boys runnin around the field it helps out ALOT! Kinda surprised to see such a lopsided tilt, Campbell should have atleast a few athletes to make plays. CCH must be pretty solid. Interested to see how they end-up.

Highlands 35 Boyle County 14
Wish I could have seen two very talented teams have at it. Sounds like a solid win for the 'Birds. 30 game win streak? That's an impressive record, a lot of teams would like to put that type of quality on the field..
-
Newport Central Catholic 42 Dixie Heights 13
Eviston seems to be a very nice younger head coach. He can't be but 31?!? For an accomplished program to put a young head coach in charge means they really wanted him, and now we know why. Nice win no matter what the circumstances- this was a wood-shedding (i agree JW).. Like to see this, NCC will be tough throughout his tenure. On to the next week...

Walton Verona/Bellevue Predictions
Walton should come away with this. First off Bellevue is transitioning into a new regime, always tough on kids to adapt to a new style in the first season. Walton knows this from a few years ago. Second, from recent records it would seem Bellevue, Ludlow and Dayton are all having a tough go at winning games. Something in the water? Maybe all the kids took thier talents to South Beach? It could very well be a mirror image game if both offenses run the wing-t at each other. In every game, whoever dominates the LOS will win, same here. Walton by 14ish?

Practice and its Hot!
I can remeber goin shells with tennis shoes in the gym once or twice back in the day (storms not heat tho).. Would think that that would still be a viable option for most teams at this point.. Besides morning and night practice I would think gym practice would be better than simple chalk talk or cancelling.... Conditioning is quite important at this stage as well, season looming....

What's the most difficult Position to play in football?
I would stick with the herd on this one and go with offensive center.. From the jump snapping the ball is an art form and being able to be consistent in both under center and gun exchanges is quite difficult. Include the line calls and etc and you have the makings of a tough position. Out on a limb here and say that OLB is a tough position to play simply from a read and react mentality... Run, Pass, Playaction alot to ingest VERY quickly...

Coach Siple
Sounds like somebody ^ who has endured many "down" years of football... While winning requires teamwork and effort both, a sport cannot be won unless you have the talent to match. A la Mavs v. Heat: Dirk is a superstar, J Kidd is one of the best point guards ever (although older), Tyson Chandler holds down the paint along with a few great bench players (Berea, Stevenson) not to mention a jump shooting Jason Terry. So your reference is null and void. The Heat will be vying for titles for years to come, you can't win them all.. The offenses you mentioned arent put in place to offset athleticism, they are put in to create favorable one on one matchups and exploit them. Sure every dog has its day, but unless you can attract a caliber of athlete necessary to compete at the higher ranks then average is where you will find yourself.. I am sure the kids enjoy playing football which is a great thing more young people should be able to be active if they so choose. Bracken will win some games, but not enough..

Coach Siple
Gotta have athletes to run a wide open offense. Would be willing to say that the Polar Bears don't have too many athletes knocking down their doors... Always good to see administrators doing the best they can to help a program.. Apparently there was a coach before this guy who had a good track record as well, shows some dedication on the schools part to try and find the best guy.. Def has work cut out for him though...
