Owen County 27 Walton-Verona 6

Featured Replies

Final from Walton

Stats anyone? Looked for it to be closer..

I figured this one would have been a little closer. With saying that, I figured Owen would win after seeing both play. With consideration to how much improvement Walton-Verona made since their game against Bellevue, I figured this was going to be a tight game. If I had to make an educated guess, I would assume the Rebels were capable of passing without much trouble. I know I said it after seeing the Rebels play Bellevue, but after this one, they have to be in the top ten, if not very close to it.

The wins keep piling up at Sweet Owen.

Owen won, but actually wasn't one of their better games.

Yes they do; I'm very happy for this team. I never followed them, only played against them and watched them against my old high school team a couple of times after getting out of high school. How long has it been since the Rebels have been this good? I can't think of any time they had a winning record, unless I have not paid enough attention.

Same for me. Garrard played in their district for years and would almost always beat them. They really have improved their program since then. The Herald-Leader this morning said that Owen has had one winning record in the last 20 years, going 6-5 in 1991.

Wow, if that's the case, that would explain why. In '91, I was in the eighth grade.

Didn't start well for Walton tonight. Blocked punt, blocked field goal that went for 6, Walton inside 20, 3 times with a goose egg in the first half. Walton likely outgained Owen and lost. Snowballled a bit on the Bearcats.

Agreed. Owen appeared to be more physical of the two teams. Congrats to them.

Congrats to Owen County!

Congrats Rebels. Folks in Owenton have got to be rockin'.

They are rockin'. In the past the only people who went to the away games were family and girl friends of the players. Last night the stands were packed with Rebel fans. I'm sure Walton had a very good gate.
