Fun to spar off on BGP, but in the end it's all speculation. We can't all live in L'ville or NKY and play every team, so we play the cards we're dealt. But I firmly believe the two teams from the top bracket that advance to the semis will prove themselves worthy of being ranked a top 6A KY football team.

With everything else equal, weather conditions favor the home team tonight. No travel time on cold buses. Familiar setting and usually better locker room. Lafayette by 14 IMO.

Well, it's tournament time now and teams advance by winning, not loosing closely. Time will reveal the best teams.

I understand. The problem with that is "strength of schedule" is usually subjective, because the emphasis is more on past teams than present. 4/5 PRP wins and 4/5 Seneca wins were against teams with loosing records, and the other W for each was against another 5-5 team. Oh well, next week's ranking will tell a different story. At least 2 of the top 10 will drop out due to first round match ups. Can't wait for Friday Night(s)!

Does GRC provide a locker room to opponents? I've been there watching the visiting team twice and both times the visitors stood around outside at half-time. Advantage goes to GRC in the second half if they are warmer and drier at half-time.

I don't understand Seneca and PRP still being in the top 10 given their 5-5 records. There are 3 or 4 other 6As with better records and playing better football going into the tournament. Those two will be out after Friday.

WOW, there's so much adrenaline in this thread my computer just hit me... I voted "other" in the poll out of principal. I believe Trinity will likely rise from that side of the brackets, with Ryle, Simon Kenton, or Henry Clay giving them a good fight in the semis, but there will also be a formidable opponent rise from the other bracket. Henderson Co. and Scott Co. have both built momentum with 7 game winning streaks as they enter tournament play, and Male is capable of surprising everyone. It's all opinion until the fat lady sings in December.

Early season losses don't matter if a team hits their stride by game 3 or 4. Henry Clay wins this game because they aren't fast. They are explosive. Connor's defense will need to contain or control multiple speedsters on every play, and that's hard to do for roughly 24 minutes. Simon Kenton will be traveling to Lex next week. Should be a good rematch.

Don't have a dog in this fight, but the real question is, can a team execute a pass game when they need to? It's the coaches decision when to pass based on what the defense is doing. Hempel has passing skills when he gets to use them. Strong arm. Throws well standing or on the run. In the last half of the season (QBs need to get their groove on) the young man has completed 61% of his passes for an average of 12 yards/completion and 100+ yard/game, and he's accurate with only 1 interception. Looks like Ryle can be two dimensional when necessary.

There are a couple of influencing factors that can't be predicted when setting the schedule. If a team has been battling injuries all season, I don't think anyone would argue against a soft final game where the starters can rest after the first quarter or half. However, if your team is healthy, I like to see a good battle for at least the first 2 or 3 quarters of the final regular season game. At this point in the season, a teams collective skill level "is what it is" and won't change dramatically in a week or two. On the other hand, a team's passion and determination to win can change, and is usually the difference maker in tournament play. I'm for not coasting.

Hear they had to put 4 or 5 stitches in his non-throwing hand. Good move by coaches not putting him back in. They really need him for playoffs because the 2nd and 3rd string QBs are both injured. The kid they put in last night is the freshman QB.

A lot has changed for Scott County since Boone. Their new O&D-linemen are settled in and doing their jobs. Their QB is now averaging about 150 passing yards/game and over 20 yards/completion, which has freed up their running game, too. They will finish the season on 7 game winning streak and carry that momentum into the tournament rounds to face Male.

After getting off to a rocky start, SC Cardinals are now on a 6 game winning streak after beating Lafayette to become the District 7 champions. They face Fern Creek away to wrap up their regular season.

The other Lexington area schools are paired up with District 2: Central Hardin, Meade, North Hardin and either Nelson or Greenwood.

Where is the listing of how the districts will be paired up in the tournament?

Dini should be able to find holes in TC's defense and beat them through the air, but GRC's defense will need to contain TC's running game including their QB. GRC by 7.

Another win would certainly keep them headed in the right direction, but Collins will prove to be too much for them to handle.

There's no doubt that the Elite 11 regional camps are a must for any junior QB that wants to go on to the next level. It's my understanding that the player submits film and coach's recommendation to be invited to a regional. Then they invite the top 11 junior QBs to the national Elite 11, right?

Question was somewhat hypothetical. The kid I have in mind is a 6'3" junior, still growing, very athletic, can throw 70+ standing, 50+ on both knees, and 35+ on his butt. He went to combines and four Senior Day camps this summer and is being looked at by all four of them plus other schools at the camps. I was just curious how important everyone thinks QB pass efficiency ratings are. Turns out, not very important. P.S. Cincinnati had one of the best senior day camps. In addition to their coaches, they had 60-70 coaches representing 22 other programs assisting that day; several MAC schools, plus some D1aa and D2 programs. Kentucky and Vandi had great camps too, just not as many outside coaches assisting.

Haven't heard any of the Lexington schools complaining. Although Dunbar as cause to question why they were the 1 out of 8 schools that got put in a "south of Louisville district; more travel time. Henry Clay and Scott County will good match ups with Simon Kenton. No one wants a soft schedule.
