Is Ryle a serious threat to win 6A?

Featured Replies

With the Raiders huge win over Highlands last night is Ryle a serious threat to win 6A? Or, did Ryle just come across a mediocre Highlands team at the right time?

The plus for Ryle would be that they would host Trinity if the two meet up. And Ryle certainly has to like the chances a little better now. But Trinity still seems like a big favorite until proven otherwise.

Ryle has a long road to travel very long!

How does this Ryle team compare to the Ryle team that made the finals 4 years ago?

Deeper, bigger, faster, and stronger....in every facet.

This year's Ryle team isn't one dimensional like the 06 version. That team relied on Gray and Murray (not a bad idea considering both played D1 football) whereas this year's team has a capable dual threat Qb, big strong lines, big athletic backs, and good receivers.

This team is more complete.

I like the 2006 team better.

Threat? Yes. Favorite? No.

I'd still say they're alot more one dimensional than they should be. Ryle hasn't been forced into a passing game really because they've been successful with their run game, I'm not sure how well they'd fair if they had to favor the passing game and play run second.

Maybe, but Ryle will be the toughest out in 6A, IMO. SK has NO road/chance. Time will tell though. Should be fun to watch. Best of luck to all of the NKY teams!!

Reasoning?

I think the two are very comparable.

2006 was led by Murray, Gray, Luster, Schmitz, and Benke.

2010 is led by Elliott, Mullins, Lonkard, Boggs, Hempel, and Mace.

2006 might have had more individual talent, but I think 2010 is deeper and has more talent overall. People forget how good Ryle's soph class is and how that has helped their depth this year.

They tried passing a lot more than usual last night and had success. They have struggled this year with dropped passes galore though which is why I think their passing game gets overlooked.

I'd consider Hempel to be a capable passer, but I don't consider him a passer. I don't consider Ryle to be a diverse offense, although I'd say they could be.

We're on the same page then.
