Stewart contract is just more of the Bengals doing Bengals things. Easiest deals in the NFL are the slotted draft pick contracts. Bengals trying to set a precedent with language that basically states if you screw up this year you don’t get future guaranteed money. This same language was not in the Bengals first pick last year. Here we are, missing reps from a guy that needs them. Not to mention how petty it makes the organization look and starts a new relationship off on the wrong foot. Stewart was patient and at the stadium for the volunteer stuff. I don’t blame him for putting it out there.

Complicated stuff. For sure. Most frustrating to me is watching other teams figure it out on the regular. While my team struggles with it year after year.

NFL contracts are wild. Geno Stone takes a pay cut or gets cut. Where does that money go? At the moment it hasn’t been redistributed. When NFL organizations have that kind of power, how can we blame any player from trying to squeeze more money out of the organization when they outperform their current deal? I see both sides of it, is all I am saying.

He has no leverage. Which also explains why he would use the media to his advantage. Bengals have a reputation and he is using it against them. We are only hearing one side of this negotiation. If he sits all season, he doesn’t get paid. Bengals retain his rights. He gets another year older. I have no fear that he plays.

Makes me almost sick to do it. And maybe I am only chiming in because I like the QB Sanders. But, I am going to take up for the Browns on this one. Aren’t most fifth round picks projects? May or may not be with the team in a year or two. I don’t think it’s a horrible pick talking the two QBs. Over the last few years having a rookie contract QB unlocks the ability to build a strong roster. At the rookie pay scale, if either of those two QBs are above average, not elite, in my eyes it would be good enough to justify both picks. For the record, I would have only drafted one — Sanders. But based on the spots they were gotten, and the number of picks they had overall. I don’t mind their overall draft.

Worst part of the draft is that I haven’t found one place that doesn’t have the Bengals draft ranked worst in the AFC North. These are first reactions from people that don’t know the inter workings of the teams nor do they know how these prospects will develop in three years. Time will tell, but it’s hard to win Super Bowls when a team like the Ravens is ran so well and drafts so well year after year. Bengals haven’t played a game yet, but feels like they lost the draft.

I wasn’t surprised. Not at all. They are young in the secondary and with so many holes they had to hope those guys develop. They needed to address edge and they took a guy in round one based on athletic ability that hope translates into more production in the NFL. Round two was straight up a reach. I think Fairchild starts in week one at guard. I like that pick. Fourth through six rounds I can’t comment much on, plus those become more developmental guys. I didn’t expect to take a RB this year but again in the sixth round it’s very pot luck. In my opinion they did Bengals things in this draft and the last few years that hasn’t been good for the draft.

I like the Fairchild pick.

Personally, I was hoping for a little more on field production rather than workout numbers and talk of upside through development. We needed a starter, and I am not sure he starts week one.

I like the idea of trading down in round one for extra picks. Hoping that Campbell slides to them. We usually stick and pick in round one. I would be surprised if that changes this year I hope we take an edge guy. Would love to land Pearce or Green. Top heavy draft for a position of need that should be an immediate starter on the edge and lessen the departure of Trey next year I believe instead of either of those we go offensive line. Banks > Zabel > Simmons.

I wonder if he still has those 2 timeouts in his pocket?

I have a close family member who recently graduated from Campbell County. Played 3 years of basketball. The NKAC was rarely if ever mentioned. Definitely not anything people got excited for. Was shocked to see that they were even in a conference.

Bengals have all the leverage here. Trey didn’t have to sign the extension which I believe would have made him a free agent this year. In this instance, I am fine with the way the Bengals have handled this deal. Don’t over pay or over extend him based on his age. He will play well this year and probably sign a mid-$30M deal next year with another team. But I am not agreeing or buying the one trick pony narrative. We have no idea of the inner workings of the defense scheme. He has no help. None. As far as I am concerned he is told to attack the QB and he does that better than anyone else in the league.

I like Sampson. I wish he coached my team. But his teams are always better at defense than offense. He hasn’t cracked that nut yet. He wins a ton and prepares his teams well. His style wins, period. However, in the biggest of games, their offensive struggles are the problem.

BG wins with this one with defense. I expect this to be a good game but I think BG can defend the perimeter well enough to get the win. I also love how BG has finished at the rim with multiple guys

I want to pick Monte. They will handle the ball and not turn it over. The key is making perimeter shots which are never a given in high school basketball. Moreno impacts everything in the lane. I think Monte can create looks inside when Moreno is forced to guard outside the paint. They just have to finish those looks. No one has any answers for Moreno, but GC goes long stretches not involving him on offense. It’s not the end of the world because he gets so many opportunities off the glass, however they don’t handle the ball great so pressure on the ball can create some turnovers. I also wonder if Monte pushes the pace if they can beat GC down the court before Moreno is set up down low defensively. With all that said, I think GC wins in an instant classic close game!

All true, just expected more.

For as much support as Coach has gotten the last month or so, I am very disappointed with the crowd here tonight to support the Jags.

Yes. And it’s not close. With that being said several teams are capable of pulling the upset.

At this point, with who was available, I believe he will be a solid one year gap guy. In my opinion it’s about as good as we could have hoped for and should be an improvement over last year.

I haven’t ever seen Walker play before last night and he could not get his own shot last night. This meant he had to rely on teammates to feed the post. It’s a lost art in basketball at most levels in today’s game. Couple that with no real set plays for him or offensive adjustments to scheme him open. Recipe for disaster. It appeared Cooper was much more prepared last night. They physically dominated the game from start to finish.

Cooper will be a tough out next week.
