First thing. Admittedly I am the most pessimistic Bengals fan in my group. With that being said I couldn’t be happier this morning. Yesterday’s game is a game we have lost in the early part of the season in past years. Call it luck, or what ever you want — I will take it! Just win, baby! Winning the turnover battle is key every week and it proved to be the difference yesterday. D isn’t great but honestly performed better than I expected. Anyone see the snap count for Stewart? O-line was bad and the offense on a whole wasn’t good. Browns D will give plenty of teams problems this year. Have you ever heard the saying: who is the only person that can stop Michael Jordan from averaging 20ppg? Dean Smith. I have a new one: who is the only person that can stop Joe from throwing 2 TDs per game? Zac Taylor.

6/7 grade Tigers fall to 0-3. New Cath dominated the game from beginning to end. Final was 32-0. Team speed is a big problem for BW.

This thread started back in January. We have a lot more information now than then. Preseason is over. Roster is set. What say you? It’s time to make your final predictions. I can’t remember any off season I have been more disappointed with. Burrow and the offense will be very good. I dare say historic good. Unfortunately, I believe the defense will let this team down. The schedule is tough. The Ravens are great. I originally picked a 10 or 11 win season. My final prediction is a disappointing 9-8 finish, which I don’t think will make the playoffs. Ultimately, I don’t think ownership has done enough. I don’t think coaching will be good enough. I am predicting a 3-3 in division record. I see us getting off to a better start, but I only see 6 other wins on the schedule.

Beechwood 8th grade beat Grant Co, 44-0. I only have the score. 6/7 grade Beechwood team was defeated by Grant Co 7-0. Defense played well for Beechwood. The offense is tough to watch. No turnovers tonight which was nice. Unfortunately they had about 5-7 penalties instead.

Couldn’t happen to a better guy. I am not a JJ fan.

That doesn’t sound like a very Bengals like move. Risk paying a guy top market to make a trade where the value of the pick is unknown.

I agree the defense got better and I like the deal they made at $30M. BUT, this is basically the same defense as last year with a new coordinator and it ranked 28th in overall defense. I haven’t seen anything that makes me think this defense is good enough with or without Trey this season.

I saw that the estimated franchise tag price will be around $38M. I would be surprised if the team went that route. I like the $30M deal that is in place for this season but I am assuming this is his last year with the Bengals.

I wish the organization would have saved any money spent on Fant so it would be available to help sign an offensive lineman, specifically a guard — even more specifically — Risner. Most agree we have top three QB in the game — future hall of gamer. Don’t we have enough weapons for him? We didn’t need Fant when we signed him, especially when you consider some the holes on the offensive line and defense.

Week One 7th grade Highlands beat Beechwood 18-13. Turnovers were the difference. I know BW had three. One on the opening play. A different fumble returned for a long TD. The third one was an outstanding interception. Highlands only turned it over once. Highlands made several big plays while BW was methodical with their drives. Several penalties on both teams. Several small injuries, but nothing looked too serious.

My biggest question is why haven’t we signed Risner yet? Line is bad. We have lost depth with Volson being out. I don’t care what it costs. We need Risner now. With or without Trey I am convinced the D will be bad. Our only path to success is to win shootouts. We need the O-Line to be better if we want to score the amount of points it is going to take to win this year. Risner grades out as an above average pass blocking guard. Get it done. To steal a mantra from the Lewis years. Do your job — ownership and sign this guy!

Bell County Murray South Oldham Ashland Ryle Tiebreaker #1: Total points in the Bell County / Campbellsville — 55

Second scrimmage of the year. Beechwood 7th grade at Summit View. Summit View broke off several long runs. They got the edge on two of them and the RB broke several tackles up the middle for a third score. I believe BW lost two fumbles and threw two INTs. The second unit made it competitive but SV dominated the first half when it was 1s on 1s. Only a scrimmage but a disappointing morning for BW.

Season is quickly approaching, let’s hope all these teams develop and stay injury free this fall. Anyone following any of the middle school teams in Northern Kentucky. Beechwood 6/7 grade team played the Union Raiders this morning. Both teams were a little sloppy, as to be expected. While competitive Beechwood was much bigger and physical upfront. This allowed them to control most of the scrimmage. it was a modified 10 play setup and both teams rotated all players into the action. The last 45-minutes was a full scrimmage with mostly ‘starters.’ I believe Beechwood scored twice during this time and held the Raiders scoreless. Should be a fun season and as time allows I will post a few updates throughout the season.

Did the freshman participate in the scrimmage? If so, did the 8th grader from Beechwood get the QB reps? And lastly, how did he look?

In other news, as of 6/27, former Steelers WR A Brown is still remains at large on an attempted murder charge.

I am still on the side of the player but as I have researched this more it’s not as unusual in the NFL as I originally thought. It’s hard to find all the details about NFL contracts but it’s a fact that contracts in the NFL with very similar clauses do exist. Again I am still on the side of Stewart on this one but thought it was worth sharing. I don’t have all the details but as an example I believe that Jameson Williams, from the Lions, was suspended in 2022 which made his option bonuses in 2023-2025 no longer guaranteed. I assume he still got them, since he had no other troubles and played those seasons for the Lions.
