Colts 41 Bengals 14 (Preseason Game #3)

Featured Replies

The Colts visit Cincy Saturday (8/23 1pm) for our third and final preseason game.

Will Burrow play at all?  What else can we expect?

Who Dey!

Unless Taylor is willing to put 1st OL out there, I sure hope Joe keeps his uni in the locker.  Just too much risk with roster spot defenders desperate to prove they belong.

As I mentioned in the previous Bengals game thread, I'd like to see more of the first string defense to get reps, but that probably won't happen for the same reason that the first string offense will be sitting too.

Here are my questions:

Is Jermaine Burton expendable now?  Obviously, I'd rather keep Mitchell Tinsley who probably has less issues.

Which tight ends do the Bengals keep?

I'm not sure how the practice squad works.  Can the Bengals store Ridder on that (or not since he is a veteran of a couple teams).  I have no idea what Payton Thorne can do.

What happens with RG?  It sounded like Patrick starts but there has been a rotation after that.

I did not hear Shemar Stewart mentioned last night.  Was he shut down by the Washington line?  Does he stay with the first string DL?

The run defense is a mess.  Safety is thin.  Do we see the Bengals looking for castoffs from other teams?

Burton has reportedly don’t all the right things this year. So if they didn’t give up on him last year, I doubt they do now. They simply will keep 6 WRs now.

Probably keep 4 TEs: Sample, Geiski, Fant, and comes down to Grady or Hudson.

Bengals will have to cut Ridder first, and if no team picks him up. The bengals can sign him back to their practice squad if he wants to.

RG is a question mark, but the Bengals did have a free agent guard in for a visit today. Who was rated as one of the top 15 guards in the NFL last year in regards to pass blocking. If they sign him, then good chance Patrick gets cuts.

Stewart was quiet last night. And safety they are definitley thin, however I would love to see Anderson get a shot to actually more at safety. He is a pro bowl type special teams player though.

Do the Bengals have a possesion TE that is reliable on 3-5 yard passes?

I think Fant could be that just needs more time with the offense. We will see.

Glad I’m working 12hrs on Saturday.

Am I the only one who enjoys watching the 3rd stringers?

I like it, I want to know if they can play or not.  And, I gutted out all of Troy and Joe the other night watching the game to the end.

Embarrassed to say LWWS will get a lot of airtime on my TV during game 3 and will flip to Bengals during commercial breaks.  Just not enough local sports coverage (TV, Enquirer, Bengals media releases, and even fellow posters on BGP) to get me amped watching 30+ guys I will know nothing about and never see again.  Even during pre-season 1 & 2 the fear of injury to #1, #5, and #9 overpowered my desire to watch the ineptness of our D.

On average I probably watch 12 hours of TV a day and I have no idea what else I would have watched (maybe flip through trailers on Netflix or Prime) but I will remember that unsettling feeling in my stomach watching the Bengals preseason game.

I really liked the Fant pickup.  He could become a huge weapon.

We have so many TEs on the roster.  Are we sure Fant is going to make the team?

Thought Hudson looked a little shaky with Jake & Joe both trying to get him touches.

Here is the Depth Chart from the Bengals:

Drew Sample - First
Mike Gesicki - Second

All the below TEs are listed as Third:
Noah Fant
Tanner Hudson
Cam Grandy
Tanner McLachlan
Erick All Jr.
