He originally signed with Bradley but was given his release when coach Jim Les was fired. “It's been a long month, but I am so excited to be a Hoosier,” Abell said. “I have been patient and my family has helped me through this and it's all worked out. I am excited to be going to Indiana. The Candy Stripes mean a lot to me, and I want to be a part of helping bring back the winning tradition.” Abell received his release last Friday and visited Bloomington with his family on Monday, touring the campus and talking to the coaches and players. “I thought it was going to be great, and I had hoped it was going to be great when I went up there,” Abell said. “I knew some of the history of the school and I knew some good things, but it all just blew me away. “It's such a good program, and the school has so much to offer. Coach Crean is a future Hall of Fame coach, and I want to go there and help them bring back the winning at Indiana.” In helping Eastern to the Sweet 16 semifinals, Abell averaged 16 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 steals as a senior. He could play point guard, shooting guard or a wing position at IU.

I wish him the best. I think he will like Alice Lloyd and fit right in there--Congratulations.

A basketball banquet was always a big night at the school that I attended. I remember that each boy received a plaque with all his stats on it. The coach also gave small plaques to each who had Perfect Practice Attendance and FG%, FT% ,RB LEADER and ASSIST LEADER and never ever gave one for LEADING SCORER. That's fair and no one was left out. It's just hard to believe that schools don't have these for the boys.

Lewis County's Riley signs to play basketball at Berea: Cody Riley made it official Wednesday when he signed to play basketball at Berea College. Riley averaged 18.3 points and 7.2 rebounds during his senior season and scored 1,505 points during his career.

Same old type all star game , first come ,first serve. Not much team play at all.

You're right, I don't think kids are taught fundamentals at any level. It seems as though everything is a one on one. I think when they put in the 3 point shot it took a lot of thinking and fundamentals away from the game. I've seen patterns ran with 3-4 passes just to get open for the three point shot. To a youngster that 3 point shot is luring and some never learn how to play just because all they want to do is shoot a three. I just don't think coaching is what it used to be. Athletes are there but the fundamentals aren't.

In a Friday night and a couple of sessions on Saturday, how could you determine who is the better 12 out of 40 boys. Not that I care much but it just seems impossible. Congratulations to those who were selected.

In my opinion, they shouldn't have. They were Ky's best team . It was a a MAJOR upset when Christian Co beat them in the tournament.

I think every coach in Ky should be sent a ballot and they should list 5 of the top players in the state as they see them(excluding their own) and the 12 with the most votes make up this team. Who chooses these 43 boys to start with?

I just see 43 boys trying out as a joke. Picking 12 out of 43 in a 2 day period would almost be impossible. I can see some of these boys worn out with basketball ,playing a 36 game high school schedule and a 40-50 game AAU schedule each summer over the past 4-5 years. That's a lot of ball and a lot of running.

I understand that there are 6 or more not trying out for this team. Some aren't playing because of this and others because of that. I thing there are circumstances in each case that has caused these boys to decide not to play. I think that Behanan should have been Mr Basketball in KY but Hickey did have a very impressive State Tournament. I do think the Clark Co boys would have played if things would have been handled differently . We need to know all the facts before critizing.
