If scoring 30 plus points a game make you the best player in the region then Clark Co has a player who has scored 39 as a high and in the 30's in other games. he also leads in assists and steals. -

By Keith Taylor Sun Sports Editor 9:00 a.m. EST, February 15, 2012 The George Rogers Clark boys basketball team saved its best for last. The Cardinals recovered from a disappointing loss at Simon Kenton with a 64-55 triumph over Franklin County Tuesday night in Frankfort. Topics Basketball Charlie Rogers Henry Clay Clark (24-5) trailed by 13 points at one point in the third quarter, but outscored the Flyers 24-8 in the final eight minutes, capping a successful comeback in the Capital City. “We won with heart and toughness,” Clark coach Scott Humphrey said. “We had their hands tied a little bit on the offensive end. We wanted them to fight through it. I thought the last game we were too quick with our shot selection. They needed to trust each other and keep moving that ball around until we got it to a shot that we wanted (on offense). I thought we had great shots all night. At times they weren’t falling, but we trusted each other and when you have that on a team, it can help you win some games in the postseason.” The Cards (24-5) were paced in scoring by senior forward Charlie Rogers with 20 points. Rogers scored five of Clark’s first seven points and had 15 in the second half. A three-point play underneath by the senior forward with less than five minutes remaining gave the Cards the lead for good. The basket by Rogers was the 11th and final lead change of the contest. Rogers and teammate Adam Fatkin combined and scored 19 points in the fourth quarter. Fatkin followed Rogers in the scoring column with 18 points. “That’s where the ball needs to go when you’re playing teams that are playing you man and they’re undersized,” Humphrey said. “They can’t handle those two in there. We had great recognition all night of where the ball needs to go.” Bopper Stenzel rounded out three Clark players in double figures with 14 points. Stenzel tallied nine of those during the first two quarters. “I thought Bopper was tremendous,” Humphrey said. “He really ran the team great. We need his scoring, but we also need him to run the team.” Next game: 7:30 p.m., Thursday, vs. Henry Clay at Norton Gymnasium. Clark 13 12 15 24 — 64 Franklin Co. 16 15 16 08 — 55 CLARK (24-5) — Rogers 20, Stenzel 14, Fatkin 18, Howard 4, VanCleve 6, Israel 2. FRANKLIN CO. (14-14) — Timmons 22, Meyer 12, Tabor 8, McCaskell 2, Rowe 6, Roberts 3, Maupin 2. ws-prep-basketball-george-rogers-clark-rallies-past-franklin-co-20120215 -

Clark played a great 4th quarter. They need to play that way for 4 quarters. I saw some life in that last quarter and thats encouraging. -
It helps ,believe me.

He rates you higher if you attend his camps. You know and I know that he's only seen a small percentage of the above boys listed play. At his camps he has different people rating the players while he keeps the gyms clean by picking up the garbage. That camp is a waste of money. I agree, how could they leave Mason Monroe off the list of underclassmen. A joke.

Rick Bolus ratings are a joke.

Simply a lack of class on the coaches part. This action will come back to bite you in the tail. -

Clark Co has played tough all season playing some of the better teams in the state, winning the Ashland and Mercer Co tournaments and have beaten such teams as No 11 Southwestern, No 12 Manual, No 14 Warren Central, No 19 Dixie Heights, No 23 Rowan Co. This pretty well explains why Clark has been rated high. SK may be rated too low but I think Clark Co has been deserving of their rating in the state. Sk had a very good game last night and Clark Co didn't, plain and simple. -

Simon Kenton has a nice group of shooters and boys who can think. Well coached team. They knew every move that Clark Co was going to make and that makes it hard to play your normal game.. Clark got behind early and just couldn't get things going for them. I thought we played pretty good the last quarter and that was about it. The officiating was great, probably the best I've seen all year. I sure wish we had those guys in the 10th region.Congrats to Simon Kenton and Cards , lets get back on track. Play the good defense and good things will happen for you. You've had a great year and keep it going. Also , I wish SK the best . -
How would the defender know that he wasn't passing the ball inbounce?

Sounds to me like he loves the game. Why chance an injury in basketball when he has a full ride to UK in football. -

You have to consider the competition. Just because a kid scores 40 points against a smaller, weaker team dosn't make him the best player in the region.
