Louisville's Eastern Remy

Abell, a 6-foot-4 guard, picked IU over Xavier, Butler, Penn State and Western Kentucky.

He originally signed with Bradley but was given his release when coach Jim Les was fired.

“It's been a long month, but I am so excited to be a Hoosier,” Abell said. “I have been patient and my family has helped me through this and it's all worked out. I am excited to be going to Indiana. The Candy Stripes mean a lot to me, and I want to be a part of helping bring back the winning tradition.”

Abell received his release last Friday and visited Bloomington with his family on Monday, touring the campus and talking to the coaches and players.

“I thought it was going to be great, and I had hoped it was going to be great when I went up there,” Abell said. “I knew some of the history of the school and I knew some good things, but it all just blew me away.

“It's such a good program, and the school has so much to offer. Coach Crean is a future Hall of Fame coach, and I want to go there and help them bring back the winning at Indiana.”

In helping Eastern to the Sweet 16 semifinals, Abell averaged 16 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 steals as a senior. He could play point guard, shooting guard or a wing position at IU.
