Which makes even more sense to give Coach Floyd the opportunity since he already is in the building, knows the returning players and has more than a good pulse of the how to make the necessary changes to improve the program. 2025 was just a bad situation for everyone in the program so it would make sense, IMO, to have someone who can hit the ground running with limited hurdles. Coach Floyd has EARNED the opportunity and I know many of the Conner faithful want him to be given a shot.

Don’t know any of the other DBs but I would love to see how Allen Evans (Trinity) stacked up against them. Evans holds P4 offers currently and is ranked very higher by Rivals. Congrats to all selected.

I agree that having a coach in the building is “best” 100%. However, if a candidate has a plan in place with a capable staff, some of which who are in the school, it can be done. Been proven at other schools that are not Catholic also. My point is that if part of the criteria is “we want a coach who will be in the building everyday 100%” that’s perfectly fine, nothing against that at all, however, don’t interview candidates that don’t meet your criteria. The days of “courtesy interviews” are long gone IMO. I don’t know if Perrin interviewed or not, assuming he did based upon several posts, just know that he’s an alum who was one of the best athletes to ever come out of Scott, currently the OC of a district champion and has deep ties in the community so he seemed like a qualified candidate and if someone else had better qualifications, so be it. But, as I stated, if the requirement was to be in the building, don’t waste either party’s time and only bring those that meet said requirements.

It amazes me that so many get caught up with "the coach has to be in the building". Seems funny to me when the both the current Scott boys and girls basketball coaches are "not in the building" but seem to functioning quite well. I could be wrong, but the football team has a couple of assistant coaches who ARE in the building and could very well be on staff with whomever takes over the program. The best coach, in or out of the building, should get the job, just like the basketball coaches, IMO. Good luck to whomever is named.

CCH is very very good. I would say one of, if not their best, teams I’ve seen them have in the last 20+ years. They have ALL the pieces and go full throttle from the jump to the end. It will be tough for ANY team in the 9th hang with them let alone beat them as they are just that good IMO. SH will learn from this and get better as they have had a tough beginning to their schedule and the one thing I’ve watched is they’ve gotten just a little bit better, sometimes only in spurts, every game this year. I watched Sully build his previous program from nothing, watching them get their teeth kicked in at the start, only to turn it around into a perennial winner with multiple district, regional championships along with a State Runner-up trophy. I have zero doubt he will do the exact same thing with the SH program. Get the Cru now because I can assure you in the next 2-3 years they will a force in the 9th. THIS ENTIRE POST! They've went the "outsider" route and that certainly didn't pan out. I would certainly be looking for someone who has a "connection" to the Scott HS and the Scott HS Community. There is an abundance of talent in the Taylor Mill area and there needs to be a way to keep those kids "home", especially given the great facilities they have. Parents have choices and with Kenton Co. having open enrollment there needs to be a "reason" to keep those student-athletes in the Scott pipeline. Just my take.

No truer words could be said. Get your licks now 9th Region because I believe Sully’s teams will be a contender sooner rather than later. I would venture to say that 70% of Highlands scoring came off Cru turnovers. The toughness isn’t there yet but I look for that to change in the near future. On the bright side I thought Kunstek was more than a force who HHS really didn’t have an answer for. He will be a go to player for the Cru moving forward.

While this may be true, every HC had to have his first job at some point. I think what is most important is who the next head coach surrounds himself on the staff (ex. Ricardo Johnson at Holy Cross). Experience comes in many forms but if you have candidates, young or not, that have a deep connection to the school and the community and are in it for the long haul and WANT to be there, it could be worth hiring that guy. The foundation of everything they need is there with the facilities but there needs to be a way to keep those "Scott" kids coming to and staying at Scott. Just my take.

Glad to see this game was played early and T made quick work of it as Allen “LA” Evans has a visit to Ann Arbor for “THE GAME” since Wolverines offered this week after visiting Ohio State last week. He’s in for a great experience of the Greatest Rivalry in all of sports.

This game summed up by missed opportunities by Lloyd. Murray did everything they could to keep Lloyd in the game and win it IMO. Far too many missed opportunities by the Juggs. Being inside the 10 yard line twice and coming away with nothing, stopped exploiting the weakness they found in the 1st qtr passing the ball to #1, and never using their speed running to the wide side of the field just killed the Juggs chances. Murray had a dominant run game and didn’t use it as much as the should have and wanting to throw the ball which honestly kept Lloyd in the game. What Murray does using linemen in the backfield is a weapon and brilliant IMO and if they would have stuck with that game plan, like they did on the opening drive, this game would not have been close. Great win regardless. Good luck next week to Murray as they take on a tough CAL team Great season for Lloyd and they have nothing to hang their heads about. Kudos to the Lloyd community for showing up big time to support the Juggs.

The play calling is a severe head scratcher. They have not ran to the wide side of the field once. They have a ton of athleticism and not using it. Murray’s CB #21 cannot cover Lloyd’s WR #1 and they didn’t throw to him in the 2nd qtr after having a monster 1st qtr. Lloyd had the ball twice inside the 10 yrd line and has come up with zero points. Let the horses out of the gate and eat! Murray is keeping them in the game by throwing the ball because they are getting whatever they want running the ball behind #75, #77, and big #79 who they are using in the backfield. Lloyd has to score one their first drive or it’s gonna be a long half.

And the other side of that coin not many talk about! Go Juggs!!

Heard a rumor that the attendance at last weeks Lloyd game was not good, if true that is disappointing. The Lloyd and NKY community need to come out and support these guys. They’ve had a great season and are one step away from Kroger. I’m planning to go support these guys as they are the last remaining NKY team playing at home.

Given the way HC went down to Newport, I’m wondering if Perrin may consider a return to Scott. Initially I thought he may stay at HC, which he still could no doubt, but there’s always something about returning to your Alma mater and rebuilding it. I think he’d bring some much needed energy to the program. They definitely have the facilities to turn it around and he just might be the guy to do it.

I think SC wins this one. I watched the first meeting as well as the SCCooper game and the Cards are clicking on all cylinders with ball control! I think it will be within 6 points but SC wins the rematch.

In theory this number will be 6 footballers as I believe freshman Brandon Smith will find some spot mins on varsity at some point during the season. He’s currently producing major mins on the football team and will be an asset. He definitely should be on the JV roster as he’s not a typical freshman.

Game is playing out exactly as I thought. SC is chewing up the clock and crushing the time of possession and the Jags cannot get off the field on 3rd down. First time since the Manual game that Copper has faced adversity don’t will be interesting to see how the respond.

Couldn’t agree more! I see Perrin riding it out at HC and seeing what happens with the current head coach. Perrin has done a heck of a job being the OC and the team is young. Scott has been in limbo for a while and I don’t see Perrin leaving a very good thing.

This will be the most intriguing in the state IMO. I thought at the beginning of the season these two teams would meet again in the 2nd round and it's come to fruition. Both teams are very good in their own respect; can SC contain the quick strike offense lead by one of the best QBs in the state and can Cooper get off the field on 3rd down against most like the most formidable running attacks regardless of divisions with a strong and very fast RB? From schedule perspective, this will the first time in 6 weeks that Cooper has played a competitive team as those last 6 teams had a combined record of 26-39 and the Jags outscored those opponents 264-79 and all but one, SK, finished the season with a losing record. While I give them credit for playing more competitive teams in the front end of the schedule, they only beat Ryle which at the time was a huge win but Ryle went on to lose 2 more games for 3 straight losses. Anderson, Highlands, and Manual did whatever they wanted to do for the most part and those games were never in doubt. The district, no disrespect, was not competitive whatsoever as the avg. margin of victory was almost 37 points. Again, not the Jags problem but I would have liked to see them have at least one of those games be competitive heading into the playoffs. SC, has played some stronger opponents on both ends of the schedule with Bowling Green and Madison Central, and while losing both down the stretch failing to score from the 1 yard line to win the game vs. WC along with being very competitive vs. Highlands both within the last 4 weeks, I view them as more "battle tested" at this time of year. The biggest thing for them is that they are healthy which makes them dangerous. With the above said, I think this could be a toss up game if both defenses get stops, SC stopping the quick strike and Cooper getting off the field on 3rd down. If neither happens, the team with the ball last will most likely be the winner.

Great write up and agree with the preliminary assessments. I do look for St. Henry to surprise some people. Yes, they'll probably a couple of years out, but I will not be surprised if they make it to the regional tournament this season. Just my opinion. Holy Cross will be very good and I am anxious to see them in action.

Game is playing out just as I thought it would. SC is controlling the TOP with ease. HHS scores on a great first play of the game and with a good drive off a fumble recovery. Other than that SC is right where they need to be and they get the ball at half. I still have SC winning this in a close one.
